Best eng boff for ground combat?

Is there much difference for running dyson or for that matter other pve?

Superior creative should help the firepower of turrets a little.

My thought is that my engineer capt has invested in purple engineer relevant doffs, % chance of extra this or that turret/generator/drone/mortar, so might as well run with a pair of engineer boffs to get the best from the doff abilities.

The rep armour and shields are so so good I doubt the healer does much healing and not convinced by boff tacs being all that.

If I remember correctly, someone ran the numbers and found that almost none of the Engineer ground powers are affected by Creative.

My understanding is that Creative does not affect items "constructed" by a BOFF, such as mines, turrets, or bombs, but only affects damage, heals, etc. directly inflicted by the BOFF power itself. Thus, Creative is mostly useless on Engineers, but is pretty useful on Science BOFFs.

    Does Creative affect shield heals?

For Dyson, i use 2 Eng Boffs mostly to instaheal shields. Both use combat drone. One carries a Shield generator, and one carries a turret.

Tac BOFFs seem beyond useless against swarms of various quality Voth. Might as well use Pulsewaves to randomly knock over a target. Sci BOFFs might be useful in an Offensive role, but heals are pointless because med hypos are plenty healing 95% of the time. At the end of a battleground, my shield heal BOFFs are more likely to be out of shield battery things than hypos.

Of course, i mostly look for Aggressive for the damage boost.

I've run 4 engineer BOff away teams since almost the beginning. Don't see that one is better than the other, just give each mines, weapon malfunction, turrets, and drones/turrets.

They can't rush you or fire at you, and you have added 8 more weapons to the mix.

My recommendation is to look for Superior Resistance, Superior Sturdy, Superior Stubborn, any traits that improve durability and resilience in combat. Tellarites are particularly good for ground, as their natural traits make them very tough, coupled with Superior traits to make them even tougher. KDF side has a lot of tough customers, like Nausicaans, Klingons, Gorn, so you have even more variety.

If you're a Veteran, an Android BOff makes a great away team member, especially Science.
