Reman reputation set: is it worth the efford?

So after coming back here some time ago I'm no almost finished with the rom rep on the first char.
Having 2 romulans both using the scimitar I actually plan to have them both equipped with the reman space set (and rep plasma weapons), but since it seems to be a loooooong way to go to grind enough for all sets I just wanted to ask first:
Is it even worth the effort? And I know, fleet shields are the best and stuff, but I like having complete sets if I start. So... Is it a waste of time to grind for those or not?

The Engine is worth it only. It gives a nice buff to Attack patterns. But the overall set as a whole is worse than the free set from the new Solinase mission. The shield is junk and the deflector is nothing special. If you are running the Romulan Torp the prototypre projectiles are okay-ish. But the Engine with say the Jem'Hadar XII Deflector and the Elite Fleet resiliant shields and the Romulan XII Engine works outstanding on a Beam FAW/APB/DEM build. Scimatars running 2 copies of ATB do crazy damage and DPS with this Engine.

PVE, works very well if you go for a full Plasma Build. Especially with the Romulan Hyper-Torp Launcher (and 3 VR Projectile DOff's).

Otherwise, not very much. MACO/KHG are better sets.

    Thats the Rom Engine.

As for standard builds, 2pc assimilated and Fleet shields are the best combo.

Do you mean space Reman set? Its acceptable for PVE, has nice visuals. However, mk xi and blue mk xii are weak, and purple mk xii is horrendously expensive when it comes to rommie marks. Engine is okay-ish, best version of shield has the second highest shield capacity in game (if you are into covariants), 3-part bonus has a nice visual to it. Thats about it.

How does it compare to other sets? Its somewhere between Breen and Hadar. Its better on cloaking science ships. 2-part bonus works only or regular heavy plasma torps, not on romulan launcher torps nor on omega plasmas.

To sum it up, really expensive if you want decent shield capacity, with basically nonexistent set bonuses, but with really nice visuals.

I used to run it on my main, now I am running one on my a2b bort.

2250 romulan marks for visuals tho.

Mhm... When I asked how good KHG/Maco/Omega sets are I was told those are junk

But well I guess I could stop farming rom marks then...

They are as much junk as a new Porsche or Lamborghini is a lemon.

Well, the Reman set is getting a buff in Season 9 to bring them up to snuff with other similar sets.

From the Season 9 #3 blog:
One of our goals with this feature was to give older equipment sets a review and bring them up to snuff. This resulted in some improvements to a few sets. At the time of writing this, the sets that received these improvements are: Romulan/Reman space sets and the Nukara space set.

Lemme guess. You asked in zone chat in ESD? You can't expect serious answers asking in zone chat. I'm going to take a wild guess here and say you got at least one person who said the Reman set will be 'best in the game' because 'it's getting buffed' (of course not having any freakin' idea what the buff is going to be).

Anyway, in the season 9 dev blog 3 there is a mention about "bringing Reman and Romulan sets up to snuff", whatever this means.

I'd wait till then to decide if said sets are worth getting.

    Someone linked this before...

It seems that the current 3rd piece power is going to become an integral part of the shield and a new 3rd power called capacitance transfer will be put in its place.

    No.

So, in current state... Is the rom set worst or better then the reman?

Now are about equal, with rommie set shield a tad weaker. However, on s9 release (late April) they will be almost identical, with Reman set having disruptor resist and Romulan having phaser resist. Note that if you start grinding marks now, you have only a slight chance of seeing the full set before s9 hits us.

The point on reman vs rom set is dmg or proprietary skill buffs romulan is mainly attack buff version of the reman with some of the buffs cut back. the reman set is mainly a full on dmg boost and shield tank buff in its current form. The difference is only moderate but just looking at it and comparing it to others with out actually asking is like playing blame game. Just don't be afraid to ask even if someone tells you there weak learn to test and go based on what works for you and not what others think as whats "best". The point to sto is to make what works for "you".
