Prolly take you less time to get a part-time/temp job and buy the pack! At least that has a guaranteed outcome of success unless you spend it on something else.

    EXACTLY!!!

And this version also has the added bonus of supporting Cryptic so that they can keep giving us a F2P game.

Plus, Tacofangs needs a hefty raise and a promotion to lead dev, stat.

    Well, its complete?

Take a look at the link of this thread.
    sto-forum.perfectworld.com/blablabla

This forum still has its separate page. Not merged with Arc here.

Anyway, I liked it. Just because Arc isn't so bad. Its just not something anybody out here needs. It ain't the devil people claim it to be, but it ain't an improvement anyway. I'll stick quite happy with Steam. Still, sometimes Arc comes in danged handy, when I'm doing a Steam game while patching STO through Arc.

    1. In order for a winner to receive the message, your Facebook account would need to be able to accept incoming messages from users who are not on your friends list

How on earth do I set FB to do that?

Personal choice - I do not mind liking for a chance of a reward, but at present I could not find out I won.

    My question is this: in regards to the 'End Date' and 'Notification Time';

'End Date' Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at 11:59PM PDT

Winner Notification by 6:00PM PDT on Wednesday, March 19, 2014

How does this work?!?! How are you going to give out the prize before the 'End Date'?!?!

like many I am not happy with this giveaway because I don't use those sites for my own reasons. on the other hand for those people of the player base who do its great for them. before anyone replies to my post I don't see the point of these sites so no I wont make one.
to bad they don't have a google pluse way to enter. I only have that because google made me have one.

Why is it that many people here hate the giveaway due to the fact they refuse to use something?

"I can't have it due to my personal opinion, so nobody else can have it!" seems to dominate the thread. I could not get the Breen ships due to my real life choices. Did you for one second hear me cry, whine and rant that everybody got one, except for me? No.

I only rant during giveaways that are location-specific. The giveaways that are American or European only are not fair, since moving to another country is not a realistic option to participate in these events. Other than that, anything given away for free is great in my opinion!

Everyone who wants to enter the contest is welcomed and appreciated, and we mean this as a way to include players in a giveaway who may not have the time to join us for Livestreams, and events and other giveaways that are more time restrictive.

    Good luck everyone!

good point. I am happy for those who choose to enter this way. even for those who MAY abuse this opportunity. I sadly wont enter it. You do know that you forgot the google pulse people in this righ, not that I am happy that google forced it on me.

Okay, when I say I like to play solo missions, I'm criticized for not being "sociable" in this game, because it's a MMO, and I'm not being massively multiplayer.

But suddenly social media are evil and trying to steal your soul??

(Incidentally, when I first set up a FB account, I used my real name and birthdate, because I didn't care. Didn't even hide anything but my location and email. Turns out I'm one of at least seven guys on there named Jon Sills, and not even the most popular one - he's a singer/songwriter. So it's not like I'm in danger from any random person searching my name...)

Uhh... you do realize that the forums are a social media outlet, right?

Not that I have any friends on Facebook or Twitter, but if I did...it wouldn't be the same as posting here. This is a secluded social interaction. Sure, it can be searched from Google...but it's not the same as broadcasting, advertising something by liking it.

    Heck, I've Liked STO...cause I like STO.

I don't like Arc. A potential $160 bribe wouldn't get me to Like it. An outright $160 bribe wouldn't get me to Like it...I don't like it that much. You could put a gun to my head, and you might as well pull the trigger...I'm stubborn that way...I don't like Arc. To a friend or a family member, sure - I'd begrudgingly Like it on Facebook for the duration required...

I think you guys are seriously underestimating how much some of us really don't Like Arc. It's not just an "oh noes, change!" thing...it's an outright WTF is this garbage thing.

If Arc had been there when I first looked at the game, I would have looked no further and been gone...

I don't care that PWE has oodles of games - I don't have time to play oodles of games. I don't really have the time to play this game with all the various grinds...there's no way I could grind multiple games.

I go to the STO page in Arc, three days later it finally loads - it has to be the slowest loading page on the internet (though since I haven't checked out the other game pages, perhaps there is one there even slower)...and well, yeah - some basic info. When I used to go to the STO page, I had all sorts of info.

So I see the thing for News on the side, I click that - and - no images/videos - yay, a zippy page. Course, it doesn't have anywhere near the info that the old page had without having to go to a news page. So I'm still behind on info.

I click Forums and it brings me here. Yay...though, this is where I head directly to skip all of the Arc nonsense. This is where I login...which means when I'm viewing all the Arc pages, I'm not logged in. Quaint, eh?

But then I hit back at the top of the forums where it says Back to Game News, and I'm at a new page. It's a different News page than the one from before, it's the blue link instead of the +More link. And even though this page is far more cluttered and visually intensive than the STO page...it still loads absurdly faster than that page. Still, I don't have all the information I had previously available to me.

So I'm not sure how you guys can ask us to Like Arc when...

    1) It gives us information we don't need.
    2) It doesn't give us information we do need.
    3) It's less navigable.
    4) It's slower.

    See...it's not a change thing.

Could have changed it so it still gave us the information we needed...didn't flood us with information we didn't need...could have even improved navigation...and could have avoided any unnecessary slowness. And I probably would have had no issue dropping out the Like or following on Twitter.

But you guys didn't go that route...so, Hell no.

You know, if Cryptic were doing a bunch of little games or a bunch of games you might play for a week or two if that (oh, I don't know - Steam comes to mind) - then there might be something to Arc (there would be still be issues to address). But uh, I'm playing a MMO - it's an investment of time and effort that doesn't leave much room for other gaming.

But yeah, yeah - I know, I know - your intended audience for the game are extreme casual players and that's the reason that STO's basically being treated no differently than a Facebook game...so it makes perfect sense to you guys that folks would bounce around different games from the Arc library like somebody on Facebook might bounce around between all those piddly games...

...and well, that's just kind of sad imho. Star Trek deserves more than that.

    Hi Captains!

Now that we’ve completed our website’s transition to Arc Games

So what you're saying is that these pages don't matter and are being abandoned.
    http://sto.perfectworld.com/about/feature-episodes
    http://sto.perfectworld.com/about/factions
http://sto.perfectworld.com/about/faq (this is NOT the same as the F2P FAQ)
    http://sto.perfectworld.com/about/gameupdates

    http://sto.perfectworld.com/about/foundry/foundry-main
    http://sto.perfectworld.com/about/foundry/foundry-faq
    http://sto.perfectworld.com/about/foundry/foundry-learn
http://sto.perfectworld.com/about/foundry/foundry-tos (this one is kind of important)
Linking to UGC's massive tutorials page from the arc/sto/guides section is excellent but you don't have any official info on the Arc site about the foundry now, such as the FAQ and the foundry trailer from that first link that says what the foundry IS; and info which isn't mirrored on UGC (note: Anyone from UGC reading this, you could update your tutorials section and mirror that info over as an introduction before it's gone).

    http://sto.perfectworld.com/seasons/season1
    http://sto.perfectworld.com/seasons/season2
    http://sto.perfectworld.com/seasons/season3
    http://sto.perfectworld.com/seasons/season4
    http://sto.perfectworld.com/seasons/season5
    http://sto.perfectworld.com/seasons/season6
    http://sto.perfectworld.com/seasons/season7
    etc.

Quite frankly the old website was FAR more organized and informative than the jumbled mess we have on Arc.

Additionally I recommend moving Redeem a Key, Manage Account Guard, Tribble Test Server, and Visit the Gateway up to the top of the guides section next to the Release Notes as these are services that people interact with.

    Liked and Followed!

Of course the only reason I have a Facebook account is because I needed one to complete Steam achievement, and the only reason I have a Twitter account is because I needed one to get early reveals on MechWarrior Online, and both are empty of all but the minimum info needed to sign up with zero friend list, but you enjoy them all the same ARC.

Usually, I would be all over this, but I already have STO, PWI, and all the other PWE games and not to mention the non-PWE (blasphemy, ikr) games I play on my facebook and twitter, I don't need my news feed clogged up anymore much less by the same **** news that is already there. Seriously, the day you guys announced the extended hours for billing support, I had three identical posts, one from STO, one from PWI, and one from FW, on my news feed, when one would have been satisfactory.

I don't use Facebook or Twitter.

I might choose twitter at some point for some very specific uses, but I don't like the idea of my "connections" and "interests" being spread around the internet.

And to me Facebook is such a source of privacy and hidden marketing concerns that I just won't expend any time on it unless I am called on to demonstrate knowledge of it to land a job.

Forgive typos, eye surgery today, all blurry.

Thanks for taking the time to point this out, and you are correct -- they are not being ported to the ArcGames website as they are covered in much more depth by the STOWiki, which has a link that is more visible/ prominent on the new site than previous iterations.

    FEs: http://sto.gamepedia.com/Feature_episode
    Factions: http://sto.gamepedia.com/Faction
    FAQ: http://sto.gamepedia.com
Game Updates: http://sto.gamepedia.com/Category:Seasons (+ many other individual pages)

RE: the Foundry links, Starbase UGC is a great site that is built by players, for players, and we recommend using it for the information you linked in your post. As for the TOS, the in-game version is the best and most up to date version to use and is available for reading in the editor.

RE: the Season links, you definitely will find all the info from the old pages and more on the wiki (e.g. http://sto.gamepedia.com/Season_One:_Common_Ground, http://sto.gamepedia.com/Season_Seven:_New_Romulus, ETC.)

We'll take your feedback about the guide order into consideration, so thanks for that!

If you ask me, and you haven't, but I'm going to tell you anyway... you're not using social media enough. Where's your G+ page, Cryptic(PWE)? You've got a pretty nicely sized community for STO there already, it'd be nice if we had an actual official outlet on G+ like there is for FB and Twitter.

Thanks for the response Branflakes; it's good to hear back about that. I still think it would be easy to do a copy/paste/format of the season page info to the top of the new blog index such as This copied to the top of This page. Since there is already an individual blurb at the top of each of those new blog indexes it would then just be an expanded overview of the whole season.

But that's just my opinion. :P
