The Admiralty/Generalship - The Office

Admirals generally spend a great deal of their time coordinating the movement of fleets and such for the completion of upper-echelon military objectives. They do not generally just go out diddy-bopping through space doing the menial task better suited to Captains or less...

When we get to be able to level to full Admiral/General, I would like to see there be something far more involved open up that can result in a much more intense elder-game experience.

The Duty Officer system has been a big success, and many have stated that it makes them feel like a captain, assigning crew members the tasks that get done without actually having to take a direct hand in it.

In my opinion, The Admiralty/Generalship should extend this system into a full-blown galaxy-wide minigame that involves SHIPS as well as crews.

Here's an example of how it works. As a full admiral, we can finally promote our bridge officers up to the rank of Vice Admiral. They become our administrative staff at our office at Starfleet Command. The "seats" in the office are geared towards Commander - Vice Admiral, similar to how the seats on our ships are geared towards Ensign - Commander. The "seats" should also be semi-universal, in that as long as we have at least one flag officer officer from each division "sitting," then it wouldn't matter what the other divisions filling the other seats are.

The office would have 5 progression tiers as follows:

Tier 1 - 1 VA, 1 RAUH, 1 RALH, 1 CAP, 1 CMDR
Tier 2 - 2 VA, 1 RAUH, 1 RALH, 1 CAP
Tier 3 - 3 VA, 1 RAUH, 1 RALH,
Tier 4 - 4 VA, 1 RAUH
Tier 5 - 5 VA

If three science BOffs are sitting, then the office will be predisposed towars missions of a scientific/medical nature.

Admiral should be the highest rank we players should be able to receive, with Fleet Admiral reserved for NPC mission-givers so there's always someone to give us orders.

So what about the other BOFFs under our command? They can be promoted to captain and put in command of one of the ships we are not using. If we have a free character slot, that newly promoted Captain becomes an alt we can play. And his crew will consist of BOFFs that will have to be obtained through the exchange or BOFF requisitions. These officers, once advanced though the top of Commander, may be reassigned to the Admiral's pool of resources for strategic command usage - the doff system with ships as well as crews.
