Expertise Drought

gypsybladegypsyblade Member Posts: 730 Arc User
Is there anything being done about this?

My older toons have millions, but my newer ones don't.....

Tour the galaxy once a day just doesn't cut it for rep/rep gear/Starbase.

I've got 3 alts who are just stuck.... w/o things like Mirror Invasion

Lack of expertise means I'll play less characters, in turn means I won't spend Zen on them. I know I'm not the only one that shares this mindset.

Nope, you're not alone. I made a thread about about a week ago when my first Rep grinding toon ran out, and my second just ran out too.

People will tell you to Doff. I can't stand it myself.

According to the new EP, that's success. You being stopped cold in your tracks is good. Didn't you know. Get used to it, there's more to come.

You see, they want you to really go for broke during event weekends. They want you to be so desparate for expertise that you drop cash on SP boosters so that you can stock up on expertise that you know will be hard to get when the event is over.

People do realise episode replays give Expertise too, right? more than enough to do reputation And get some decent gear to sell on the exchange.

Replays give 1-2k Expertise per run, and depending on the mission, a run could be anywhere from 10 minutes to 45 or more.

Compared to MU, which you could do at least four/five runs in the hour that it ran for, could net you plenty of Expertise. Considering you need it only for Rep and Fleet projects, and Boff training, I really don't see why Cryptic are being so tight about it unless they have a plan to monetize Expertise gain.

That would be ok, if they weren't still collecting subs and lifetimes. I feel sorry for those who sub or buy the ls at this time.

It's already monetized. Use an XP booster (which can be bought with Zen) - and if you're level capped you get more expertise.

Remember the whole kerfuffle about the leaked info on the Anniversary event?

Yeah, you're about to start another by revealing a secret before they've got all their rollout spin..er..."PR" in place. :D

    Well...

If that's the case, i'm more than happy to burst that particular bubble. Maybe it'll never come to fruition, like those "cooldown tokens" that appeared on Tribble and then mysteriously never made it to Holodeck during the Grindiversary.

Story missions (on their first runthrough) and doffing don't give enough? The heck? I'm sitting on a surplus of around 6 million per character.

If you're Fed, you can do the Patrol missions. Each of these take just a few minutes and give 5k EXP

I'm quite starved for expertise as well, mostly from dropping 64k on Omega gear items (curse my need to tinker with my characters...). I'd probably go buy an expertise booster if they weren't so ungodly awful for the value. $10 USD should get me 100,000 expertise, not 10,000. 10,000 is pathetic.

This is assuming you can stomach that much of Cyptic's awful writing.
Arc is garbage. End of discussion.

Maybe people just want something fun to do to earn their expertise, instead of it being a grind where you have to do something you don't enjoy to do it. I HATE DOFFING! Yes, I can get exp, dil and such from it, but it's not an area of the game I'm interested in, and was a stupid addition to begin with. The game was nowhere near to being ready for a system like that to be implemented, specifically DOFF buffs. It was just another step in the power creep stairs that take you from MMORPG to ThemePark STO where you can have all the power you want on any ship. That doesn't make me lazy, just disappointed in Cryptic's design decisions.

LOL, ain't that the truth. The people that find the story in STO compelling must have the reading skills of pre-schoolers, it's that dumbed down.

I'd hardly consider 9 50s lazy, I'd also like to add those last 3 alts I'm grinding through the rep. They are doing Tours and replays everyday. They are also all doffing, I'm doing everything on my end to grind through rep.

Anyone that claims there is no drought normally only plays 1 toon.

A fun way to earn it would be great, but, all MMOs endgame is a grind. Can't be avoided
