Wow, just wow. Way to go Cryptic. "A Step Between Stars" blew me away.

Yes I would agree. Nice lengthy story line and a twist in the plot.

    Is that Sheldon's ancestor? :D

Unless he's a time traveller, he's a descendent. Ancestors are people born BEFORE you.

I agree that its really good. Butch through the lent hand that I'll probably go through it multiple times I will probably end up hating it as much as every featured episode so far...

Overall, I really liked this mission. Even better than Sphere of Influence, which is amazing.

It takes a long time to play through this mission, which is both good and bad but mostly good.

The bad part is, if you're replaying for the set it's going to take awhile and that issue only multiplies if you're planning to run alts through it.

The good is, there's going to be some nice replay in this mission even without the extra rewards.

While a good mission, I dont quite understand why my Captain would beam into a hostile situation like that with no backup. I mean.. we have 100s of redshirts...

I totally agree, our characters are VICE ADMIRALS, its about time they act like it, instead of first officers.

I want to be demoted to Captain....

I have now run this mission twelve times.
Three each for the pieces so I can unlock the appropriate ship in each faction and getting the EV suits for a lower level Character.
If after traading in three suits for a paladin I can do it over and get the sentinel then I will be doing so. :D
This mission does not feel grindy because of the variable play through each time. Captain alive or dead? Which consoles for the puzzle. How to handle the voth. Still can't fly a space jetpack to well.
To the different paths to reach the second control room.
The only tiring parts are listening to Tuvok say, yet again, "I have experience fighting this species." (I think he says it three times in the space battle alone.)

Here's hoping any revamps get this kind of attention and new episodes are as much fun.

Nor should they be. Their ships would look weird.

Honestly, tho doing the mission on my lvl 50 Fed captain felt bad.. but when I re-did it on my lvl 10 Romulan (centurian) it actually was more fun.

This feature episode has me curious about the Undine.

Doctor Eric Cooper is in the New Romulus gateway room at the start of 'Sphere of Influence' but doesn't go through the gateway to the Solanae observation station in subspace.
    This suggests a few possibilities:

    - The Undine were aware of the Romulans efforts to activate the gateway on New Romulus and Dr Cooper, an Undine, directed the gateway to open to the Solanae observation station in 'Sphere of Influence' knowing it would lead to the Solanae dyson sphere.

    - The Solanae were trying to destroy New Romulus by sabotaging the New Romulus gateway which is counter to the Undine objective. The fact the Solanae almost succeeded suggest the Undine weren't aware of the Solanae's sabotage.

    - The Jenolan dyson sphere jumped to its current location in the Delta Quadrant during the events of 'Sphere of Influence'. This suggests the Undine already knew of its subspace jump capabilities and the gateway connecting it to the Solanae dyson sphere.

Overall it seems the Undine planned the actions of the Alliance since the discovery of the gateway on New Romulus to create a permanent connection between the Delta and Alpha Quadrants.

What I want to know is what makes the location of the Jenolan dyson sphere so beneficial to the Undine versus the fluidic rifts in the Pelia sector block.

Depends if there was a real Cooper and, if so, when the Undine replaced him. They may have found out about the Romulan gateway experiment after the fact and decided to put an agent on the Sphere, choosing someone familiar with the tech to replace.

Dr Cooper may not have been an Undine until the Jouret gateway was permanently connected to the Solanae dyson sphere but it still raise a few questions:

How did the Undine Cooper know the Solanae dyson sphere had a gateway linked to the Jenolan dyson sphere?

Why did the Jenolan dyson sphere relocate to the Delta Quadrant?

What makes the location of the Jenolan dyson sphere in the Delta Quadrant useful to the Undine?

These are the things I hope will be made clearer in the feature episodes coming in Season 9.

This is the only part of the mission that bothers me. manually counter thrusting to stop in 2d is easy, but the controls don't really work so well in 3. you have to look straight down then fly "forward".... It's a high tech suit... but it doesn't have an automatic counter thrust to stop?

I came to the conclusion that he made it do that, and lied about why it happened.
