I play other games including rift and wow.. you know how many times someone stops me and starts a convo (who was just walking by) over a piece of gear, a pet, or my name or what not.. you might not think walking around has anything to do with an mmo, but, the very definition of an mmo is large amounts of people interacting, and working towards a common goal..

just because you watch tv while you play doesn't mean everyone else is.. that is like saying because you like facial hair, everyone else does.. I for one do not have a tv near my computer.. and when I play, I do play with fleet mates, but I have met a ton of awesome people just because of my name, or something I said in chat, or someone asking about my ship.. or my costume.. or the random dance parties that used to happen.. stuff like that has disappeared in this game.. I remember when you used to enter a system, and be randomly put into a group to do that mission (if others were doing it).. I havnt had that happen in like forever..

anyone who doesn't like what an mmo is, is free to go and get star trek legacy, or any of the other console/computer single player games.. why does everything have to be the way the solo player wants it.. all I see is I want I want and change this and change that.. I hate aspects of this game.. and guess what. instead of demanding they remove it or what not, I just ignore it.. and play other aspects of the game..

Sorry but you are dead wrong. MMO=massive MULTIPLAYER. All multiplayer means is that more than one person can play the game at once. It does NOT mean you have to interact with other people. When you go on a plane do you interact with everyone on it, talking to everyone and becoming friends with everyone? My money says no, you don't. Just because YOU interact with everyone in game does not mean everyone else does. A community is made up of DIFFERENT people, with different thoughts and ideals. If you can't understand that then maybe it's you that needs to go play the single player games.

    Hi

Just wanted to discuss the growing "convenience" in this game that is really making this Star trek Solo online.
    Welcome to January 2010.

    Welcome to January 2010.

The operation of an MMO is an ongoing process, not a window frozen in time. Welcome to the world of convenient posting, it is so much faster than putting down something substantial. Must be because it saves time. I do it myself. ;)

Well I think some people get the idea of what my original post was about.I have a fed and kdf fleet that I run. Recruiting is definitely easier once your over Tier 4. I can imagine how insanely difficult it would be to recruit to a tier 3 or lower base at this point. And yes our fleet has teamspeak and our own chat channel so we make efforts to socialize. This is not about how I need socializing lol

My discussion is mainly towards the trend to make things less immersive and more click queues and instanced events. The game has definitely been moving in that direction and I think it really hurts the star trek experience and takes away from the social areas etc. It would be nice if each planet or social zone had a purpose, or reason to go there. Special items etc.

Now with the simplification of rep systems you will not even have to go to a vendor for your hypos and commodities. Another reason never to go to DS9 again. Right now I am able to login and go from my fleet mine, to spire, to starbase, to embassy. Give in my contraband, change ships, mail, bank, recruitment, sell on the exchange. Do majority of my stuff without seeing another player, then I can queue directly into a mission and pug any mission in game with a reasonable chance at success.
