I've been having the overwhelming problem of a single hanger slot on my ark'if. the problem is i can't seem to find federation fighters that wont die instantly, or get to far behind me when i jump to full impulse. i just want fighters that are useful because even in an ark'if they are at least 40% of my total dmg. any ideas as to what to use or should i just give up and go over to my ob carrier with two slots, and excellent pets despite the bad BOFF set up (or so im told)

    What are they dieing against? If it's warp core breaches, that's an AI issue, like the falling behind when in full impulse, and all hangar pets share the same AI core.

    If it's Voth or other AoEs killing them, hangers with lower deployed numbers have higher HP and survive better. I've been using a hangar of Delta Flyers against Voth to good effect on my Fed side Jem Dread. You could also go the other way and get Swarmers from a Fleet Spire (which can be mounted on any hangar having vessel, unlike the ones from Sphere of Influence), they die quickly, but a fresh batch can be deployed almost as quickly as they die off.

    Back to the falling behind issue, if you have time (like going between spots in the Dyson Sphere), you can dock them back inside your ship by issuing the Recall command and waiting a little bit, and then pop them out as a bunch by issuing any other hangar command when you get to your destination.

    The Ar'kif doesn't even need a hangar to be good. The hangar is just icing on top. Personally if the Ar'kif gets another hangar slot, then I want a third or fourth slot on my Vo'quv, Atrox and Kar'fi. (I don't really want this).

    There are some ships I wish they'd give a second hangar on though, namely the Orion Marauder. It seems like Klingon Carriers are based on Orion science, and the Orions have the largest number of hangar craft. It would be really nice if the Marauder, a relatively underperforming Cruiser, got a little umph by having an extra hangar and nothing else added to it. That would be pretty cool and I could sink my teeth into that idea.

    That being said, I look at the Ar'kif pets the same way as I do on my Prometheus. They're just extra throwaway damage. Look at them more like Torpedoes and it won't bother you as much.

    the issue with that is i have seen a exceptional drop in my dmg when my fighters/shuttles are dead

    Then the questions, how much damage are you actually doing? Pets add a decent boost, no joke. But they shouldn't be accounting for almost half

    Does anyone know just how much damage the various fighters/runabouts/shuttles do? Like, is there a chart somewhere or something? I've briefly fooled around with the regular Scorpion Fighters on the tribble server, and their damage was actually kind of underwhelming - are the upgraded versions significantly better?

    the single hangar slots seem fine to me, I generaly use the Scorpions on my arkif, and the drones on the scimi, have never had any issues with them, they are effectivly disposable ordinance that ices the cake of either ship.

    Elite Scorpions have high-yield Plasma Torpedoes, which are insane for Borg STFs with all those un-shielded high-HP targets to burn and also do pretty decent against other enemies. Though, both the torps and fighters fall to Voth AoEs pretty quickly.

    There's been a couple of posts on the DPS pets do in STFs (Elite Scorpions top, Elite Peregrine/To'Duj next with significant fall off after that with other small pets), but none dealing with durability that I've read.
