The current system is the most boring way to gain rep in any game I have ever played.Click something wait 20 hours..
Its only there to artificially slow progress to hide lack of content.I know its like that for every mmo but at least its actual content in itself and involves you doing something that the devs made.
To add insult to injury most of the gear on offer by the system used to be obtainable by doing a single stf so the wiki says.

The gear sets in the Omega rep used to be rare random drops in STFs. Theoretically you could get one after a single STF, if you got extremely lucky. But most likely not.

No. Having to wait 20 hours for something to complete is very clever. It ensures player return. If they did a Rep system where you got everything immediately, then player return percentages would be way down.

This. It ensures cheeks in seats over time. It also is a way to buffer the development time vs. play time so the devs can actually get stuff out to us before we burn the content to the ground.
It takes several months to develop a reputation system from scratch and a month or two for an average player to complete a rep, including grinding out all the possible gear. This serves a buffer so the devs can make new, better content, including missions, ships, and episodes, for us to enjoy later on.

So I take it you were not in sto prior to the reputation system going live so therefore I will try an educate you.
Prior to season six the only way to get the omega gear was through stf's and believe me it was a headache you had to prey to the loot gods in hopes of getting the drop needed to get the gear. Players would go days, weeks and some went months doing stf's and not getting the proper drop to get the gear. so cryptic came up with the rep system to end this nightmare.
Yes the rep system is boring and takes time to complete but there's catch to it no hidden drop you had to have. I think if you would have been here before season six then your view of the rep system would be different.

....and yet you have 39 posts. I get the feeling you're a troll. If you were really ragequitting, you wouldn't be idlely complaining. Just thought I'd throw that out there.
My Old Blog about things that could and should have been added when I wrote it. Not sure what I want to do with it now. I'll just keep it available now that most of it is outdated.

I prefer grinding with chances for elite gear aka the old system...this new way is boring and tedious......the old way offered those who played stf's often more opportunities at the drops......this new way balances it for everyone and I am no fan of equal loot for casual as opposed to those who are willing to take their knocks to get elite type gear...
If you are a casual player you should get casual loots ...if you are a dedicated player who grinds time in stf's you should be afforded more chances for elite gear.
11 toons and full maco and omega gear from drops only.......It took me months but I completed it.....now after a prestige is released I calculate the exact amount of time needed and finish in the barest of minimum times..only to be bored for seemingly weeks and months afterwards.....
With the newer loot which is handed over for all to have I don't even bother.....
There is something to be said about a small percentage having seemingly unattainable gear through dedication and force of will grinding away at stf's and raids endlessly....
How many of us have VETERAN BO's when they were offered only a small percentage of folks got them..I have 3 of them
That truly is the last in game item that separates players.....
It is not about being elite..MMO's are about the loot...the prestige of having a rare item....it is something that MMo's as of late have moved away from..they pander to the entitled whiners, the causal players at the expense of the more serious mmo players who dedicate good chunks of time to the game.
As I have always said just make a server for entitled and casual players so that when they log on they get all the loot they want on a silver platter and the unending thanks of the devs..
the other server could be for the more serious MMO players. /sarcasm
It is no longer I raided for weeks and moths to get that sweet item..in STo it is I did the grinf for 15 days every 20 hours or so.....zzzzzz
Today we fight the GAULS......monstrous and HAIRY beyond reason.
