New Reman Toon Trouble

I'm having issues playing my newly minted Reman. My issue is that ground missions are essentially unplayable. The keybinds I brought over (ala: /bind_save[and load]_file DefaultGround.txt) from my other Romulan don't work.
Basically, I'll start auto walking, or the camera will spin uncontrollably, or they key I mapped to switch weapons reverts to what that key does by default, and so on. These kind of errors will go on for 20 seconds or so, then controls go back to normal, then another error or ten (multiple keys going haywire). It seems like there is some kind of tug of war between my key binds and the default key binds.
Personal attempts at fixing the problem:
- I've tried manually binding everything I used then clearing everything I don't including alternate keys in both shooter and rpg mode.
- Multiple save/load in both shooter and rpg mode.
- Deleted old DefaultGround.txt file, saved and loaded again with no effect.
- Several times logging and exiting the game entirely.
- Used rpg mode only believing switching to shooter mode was the cause. This failed to resolve the issue.
- I ran around several locations with my main and my other Romulan and there were no such bugs on those toons.
I tried to do a search on such an issue - either my googlefu is off or there hasn't been anything like this reported in some time. This issue has happened on missions and the flotilla, so it's not exactly isolated to one mission.
