Alright, so I've recently completed the Romulan Rep System (just today, actually) and I'm sitting on a ton of Dil and Marks. I got enough for, at least, two items. Now, the curious one in me says "Go after the Mk XI Reman set!" which would be easy - I just replay Colosseum, get the shield, then go and get the rest this way.
But, then I hear the rep items just aren't good. So, now I'm curious - would it be worth it get anything there?
there are many things such as the 2 weapons console set which are great from what i have heard, the romulan plasma you unlock from the rep store and the romulan engines i think. and now i must start too the rom rep but i don't have yet the psychological strength to chase alien rabbits, i think i will throw my pc out the window. overall the 2 ship sets are very mediocre they don't give anything at all
The Weapon/Console Set is worth getting. It has a decent torpedo and the Beam doesn't drain weapon energy. If you are into Carriers, then the Elite Scorpions are the best dps pets, but the other pets are useless.
The T1/T2 passives are worth it, the console (in T2) is nice. If you use plasma weapons, or think you might want plasma weapons, Romulan Plasma is very nice.
The flamethrower is just pure gimmick, it has no actual usefulness. But it's cool.
I bought the plasma flamer and I have a great deal of fun with it. It is different from other weapons and you have to use it carefully to get its full potential.
There is the possability of damaging multiple targets with it if you line up correctly, and it does a great deal more damage to unshielded targets I have noticed. I can attest to killing five Voth specialists at a time (with the backup of my BOFFs of course). It has a limited ammo supply that refills itself over time, so you would want to carry a backup piece of some kind. Certainly not a war winner, but far from useless.
IMHO you should definatly get the beam/torpedo/consol set. It is well worth it. Romulan ship plasma weapons are also very good as they combine both plasma and phaser procs and do just slightly more regular damage then other similar weapons do. Just decide what kinds you want and unlock only the Mk XII versions of course.
The space sets can be nice if you are especially wedded to plasma projectiles as their three part bonus gives a speed and resiliance boost to them. Very good if you like heavy plasma torps above anything else. I would avoid them if you play to tank as the shields are not very resillient nor have they especially great capacity.
I would generally avoid unlocking the ground combat weapons as you can get as effective for cheaper on the exchange thanks to all the Voth weapons floating around there. At that point it is a question of "How Romulan am I ?".
If you really want to use plasma, the gear is good, otherwise you could skip it.
The 2 space sets are decent but not top end for pvp.The weapon/console set is pretty good. If you do use the power train set, definitely take the weapon/console set. Boosting the hyper plasma with the romulan/reman space sets is very nice.
New home of the Romulan Republic.
I have an idea for what Season 11 should be; Season 11: The Big Bug Fix.
I have not been able to read my bug tickets in over a year, not even the tickets about not being able to see my tickets.
I find the drama of your signature proof of your immaturity, this means you, DR whiners.
There's never been a confirmation that the Romulan/Reman prototype space sets actually improved hyper-plasma torpedoes. Did my own testing and there's not much in the way of noticeable difference.
It might likely be only designed to augment the regular Plasma torpedo launchers.
SO many of use are die hard 2 piece borg with Elite fleet shield. They are lots of Cruisers running Aux2batt with FAW and APB or an escourt with APB and APO and 2 of the attack pattern cooldown doffs. We have so many players that are sleeping on the Romulan Eng with the boost to attack patterns. A Scimitar running two copies of APB can get a huge buff from running this Engine. Look at it's stats:
+26.2 Starship Attack Patterns
+16.8 Flight Speed
(Efficient at Low Power Levels)
+19.5 Flight Turn Rate
+16.5 Full Impulse Flight Speed
Full Impulse
All Power to Engines
+110.2 Flight Speed
Diverts all power to engines
I run this with a Fleet Shield and the Omega Deflector or a Jem'Haddar or Elite fleet Deflector. Just depends on the mission. But the Boost to Attack patterns it has is a one of a kind ability that should not be taken lightly.
With the current power creep and the shear power of APB3 or the Stacking from a Recluse Elite pets. Or the cooldown reduction from stacking 2 of the AP doffs with APB and Alpha and Omega this Little Romulan Engine is one of the most over-looked uber items in the game when it comes to beefing up your attack patterns.
My rom uses the rom mkxii DHC nothing in elite stf lives for very long the rom torps are slow but with the boost from 2 peace khg set there do a hell of a lot of kinetic dmg + if u have a plasma proc console from the embassy there hull just gets eaten away
Reman Space Set - at first look, all i could think of was 'meh'. Then I got the crazy idea of building out a fully-plasma oriented Oddy with either the romulan or reman set. The reman set won out (can't remember why).
What stood out for me was the shield capacitance. In virtually every combat my shields would jump up do to the stacking capacitance. Designed as a tank, my shield would jump from 12K per facing to over 30K per facing during combat. Incredibly good while up. However if they ever fail, you're toast.
I now use the full plasma set on my Avenger - and it's a lot of fun

Gear Highlights:
The Zero Point Console
Exp. Romulan Array
Romulan Plasma weapons (space and ground)
Elite Scorpions (omg, these are good)
Passive Highlights:
Enhanced Shields
Disabling Strike
Emergency Secondary Shields
Odd, yet surprisingly good:
