Ideas for expansion?

I like star trek as not just a game, but a TV show as well, which is true for most of you. That said, I think it could have some features that would make it amazing. I think, even if just for fun, it would be cool to make a list of features that and other players would like to see.
  • Designable ship layout
  • More to do on bridge
  • Change from captain to different Bridge Officers

A designable ship layout would mean more uniqueness between ships. You could have an assortment of different rooms to pick that can be placed on up to maybe 5 decks. You could have armories, shuttle bays, etc. each room could have a purpose. An armory would allow you to modify your weapons with different data. Maybe a certain particle can recalibrate a phaser sniper rifle to be 5% more affective against Gorn, or maybe an unknown alloy could dispose the necessity to recalibrate weapon frequency against borg. It would add crafting aspects to a ship. Then, a shuttle bay would serve a similar ability as the transporter room, and the transporter room could be used to gain new duty officer assignments. You could use the standard deck plans,or change them for 1000 energy credits more, and you could by access to certain interior looks like TOS or DS9 packages.

The other idea is changing who you play as to one of your bridge officers. If you have them set as as a department head, you could gain abilities when you play as them. IE: chief medical officer adds a buff to health and buffs people on your team. These buffs only work when you play as said officer, but you don' retain your normal captain's skills.


These are just my ideas, I'd love to here what you guys have to say.

    It makes some sense. They are forever reaching outwards in order to bring in more content, and forget to look inwards and take care of what is already there. Crew customization, ship interior customization, missions based on interiors, more general activities linked to interiors, there is no shortage of possibilities, apart from those technical hurdles, forever abundant. If it was easy they would have done it more readily, perhaps. ;)

    STO in general needs a lot more crafting abilities. And adding upgradable personnel equipment and ship parts would be a great idea, making them much more personnel.

    It would also make alot more sense to have a shuttle bay, why would you go to the transporter room to get to your shuttle?

    Having your BOff department heads manning rooms aswell, not just the bridge (when that is working) and the appointed XO in the XO's chair.

    Having a cargo bay to access account bank, and why cant we access our character bank from the ship, that would make more sense than the account bank.

    Wish lists are great but there is a very real way to make them into reality. What wish lists items could make money?

    Would you pay for cannon stuff? Would you pay for exploration sectors? For example, I'm a uniform junky. I'd pay for away team jackets. I'd pay for different communicators (TOS communicator fan myself). I'd pay for cannon sidearms. I'd pay to have the option to change my BO's uniforms just like I can change mine at any time. I can't be alone. Heck have you been to a Star Trek Convention? People will pay for just about anything.

    My two cents: This game is still thin. Although they've moved it in the right direction, it could benefit from staff and that's only going to happen with increased funding. I know they've hired on a lot of folks but they continue to fix old stuff or revamp old missions. Thin! Bring back the old STF's as STF classics. Don't just spotlight a foundry mission. Select it, take it, and add to it using your Cryptic tools. Drop a new PvP map or two every month (random selected map when you enter Pvp like world of tanks?). Set-up a Premade PvP option versus random ques. Why not allow crafters "special" items? Maybe an extra bonus to "x" versus the other stuff.

    DEVs, get back in the game. Remember when you use to log in and challenge players to PvP? Remember when you'd drop borg into ESD? You guys are doing awesome! Keep up the good work Cryptic.

    Season 8.? whatever and Season 9 may be decided but zen/c-store items are not. My original question is valid and should stimulate some discussion. What would you pay for?

    Away team jackets? Cannon weapons? Ship skins? Bridge packs? Playable species? Chest hair for your avatar? Seriously, what would you pay for?
