Computer crashing, blue screen pops up

Recently I've been having computer crashes, and only when I play STO. In-game, at random times, my screen will just go blank, and then a blue screen will pop up saying "Windows has shut down to prevent any damage." It also adds that a hardware malfunction occured. Again, this only happens when I play STO, and it is happening more frequently every day. Is there any way to solve this problem?

    If you have a BSOD this is either a hardware issue or a driver issue.
    If there's a driver responsible it might be mentioned in the bluescreen report somewhere.
    nv4_disp.dll would be an nvidia graphics driver bluescreen for example.

    On the hardware side issue can range from the aforementioned overheating to virtually any kind of physical or logical defect.

    Generally it's not the game that's responsible but certain interplay between software and drivers can cause major problems as well - this generally affects all users, however, or specific driver verisons.
