Thanks to a rubberband lag spike I just lost over 12 hours of cooldown timer for Fastest Game on Ice on one of my characters.
I loaded up the missions on all my characters last night with the intention of running them this morning, since I was not able to complete them last night (due to real life commitments). I know the cooldown timer starts ticking when you pick up the mission, because I've done this a few times where real life prevented me from doing the race as I picked up the mission.
So I log on this morning to do the races, and my first character lags out at the start, rubberbands and DQs. So now the only way to proceed is to go back to race coordinator and select 'restart race' which effectively drops the mission and retakes it, thus resetting my cooldown back to 20 hours.
It makes me want to cry because as it is I'm going to miss out on the last week of the event due to going away, and I was really hoping to get both ships for my characters, which means I cant afford to lose any time on the 20 hour race cycle. Now every time I lose time like this it means I will be even more photos short at the end, which means even more lobi I'd have to spend to make up the shortfall.
I'm sorry but to expect me to spend even more lobi than necessary to make up the difference for photos I lose out on due to poor implementation of a restart option / cooldown timer is unfair. Lobi arent exactly cheap currency, especially with the lobi/photo conversion rate you're giving us.
So are you are going to reimburse me for the valuable time I lost thanks to your shoddy implementation of the restart mission option?
Sorry, but this is entirely on you. I am quite certain that the devs intend people to take the quest when they intend to complete it, not take it ahead of time. Nowhere does it say anything about "take this quest now and finish it later so you can do 2 in a row" or even suggest this.
You tried to play the system, you got burned. Sorry, it must be really annoying for you and everything, but this was your mistake.
Oh and a tip. If you want to make complaints to Cryptic, without other players posting to point out that it's your own fault, the ticket system is a much better bet that the player forum.
Worth noting is that other players can intentionally sabotage your mission by pressing F after you, causing you to get stuck there and unable to get to the starting line, which then disqualifies you. This has been getting increasingly common as more people discover this form of trolling.

Thanks for your reply I get what you're saying, however I think if Cryptic intended us not to be able to take the quest now and do it later, the cooldown would not start ticking the moment you take the quest. There are some mission who's cooldown only starts when you turn in the reward (voth b.zone comes to mind), and others which do work like how I described (Defera Invasion Zone comes to mind).
So why would some missions start their cooldowns on pick up while others start their cooldowns on turn in, unless it was by design? Just thinking out aloud here.
IF the photo race cooldown only started on turn in, I'd say fine - if I cant make it online when my timers are up, to run all my characters thru so be it, I miss out. But the fact that the timer starts on pickup, made me think that its by design -so that people dont necessarily miss out on a day's worth of photos if they only have a few mins to log in at the time, but can do them later in the day or even the next day without sacrificing the cooldown period. Make sense?
Anyway, I've learned my lesson, and will just suck it up and accept that this is how things are
Thanks again for the feedback, its always appreciated!

Which really accomplishes nothing since it merely delays you by a few minutes.... You can restart the mission immediately. As a form of "trolling" it's not very good.

Had this done to me quite a few times, it may not achieve much, but it is very irritating. End of the day though, they're the ones that end up looking like twits.
The timer reset is not an "issue." Restarting a mission means dropping it and taking it again.
And the disqualifying bug is just desserts for the people who try to cut in line by bunching up in front and hammering F instead of waiting in line like a normal person. Too bad one of the bunch still gets to run it, it would be even more hilarious if they all got DQ'd.
Actually, as far as I know, ALL "daily" type missions, reset on either turning it in, or if you drop it and try to re-accept it. So I don't think this mission is any different from the others, in that respect.

Good luck with your future runs.
