To say the least. (Before I go on *Spoilers*, not that there's much too spoil...). The cutscene before it is really good and opens up some good questions as to what's happening with the Voth. Then you get in your ship and fly from one end of the Allied Zone to the next. That's it. Seriously? Why not some epic rescue mission that takes place in the Voth Zone and has you preventing the Voth from using Omega based weaopns in the process? (Why is that Zone even here at this point?) Or preventing the Voth from moving the Sphere through subspace? Or at least finding out who the Voth ar fighting near their home system?
It's rather silly that if the mission is just to fly to a location, it wasn't included from the beggining.
I agree, the cutscene is great, but I was hoping/expecting a trip into the Voth Zone for a nice guns-blazing rescue mission. The "mission" is a bit of a letdown IMO.
If one of my potential bridge officers can't even save themselves, then they don't belong on my crew. Of course, I would have to escort a defecting potential bridge officer since not even my best bridge officers can take on the entire Allied Forces. Although, I will have some words with him for not stealing a Bulwark when he escaped. A Bastion or Palisade would have been acceptable as well.

Because it is the building block on what's to come in Season 8.5!!!
I didn't get that mission either, he needed to be rescued from what? I didn't see anything attacking his escape shuttle. And seriously, how was that a "special" reward anyway, for all the secrecy and hype about it you'd think the reward would have been at least maybe a Voth small craft or something, I was thinking, yay, a Voth bridge officer  who didn't see that coming. If anything, they could have at least given him a more decent, very rare, purple grade weapon.

Basically he needed to be rescued from his own race, before they got to him, as he'd basically committed treason against their Doctrine.
And as far as I know, the devs have admitted that that mission and reward was (and still is) unfinished.
Edit: ignore that last part; missed the latest Holodeck patch notes.
Was named Trek17.
Been playing STO since Open Beta, and have never regarded anything as worse than 'meh', if only due to personal standards.
Iam not surprised as iam almost to the end of Tier V and i have been saying this entire Voth/Sphere has been a waste of assets being built that has done nothing to expand the game for the better, it is one thing after another of the same as the Romulans being released.
Cryptic needs to give us something substant such as a territory system that ties in our starbases, the ability to expand into other universe with smaller starbases or bases in general. Allow us to build, while expanding the Universe into the Delta Q. The way things are going, it provides nothing but a distraction from what could be.

Such a shame it had to be another mission-less Nukara fail
>_> Son I am disappoint. At least give me something to shoot.

I must of missed where there's a non-android science officer that can self-rez.
