Let's see S8 out for one month and already 7 patches done, soon to be an 8th patch probably before the month of December is finished. So yeah most horrid season to date since I first started playing this game back in S6.
I didn't think it could get any worse when I saw people complain that Season 8 sucked because we weren't getting massive disconnects and server instability issues.
the whole idea of seasons from the beginning was that they would consist of a series of updates, rather then one big giant patch. It's only been recently that they've strayed toward the fewer bigger patches model, and mainly because of the big huge changes ushered in by these last few seasons. Season 4 brought us the ground revamp, season 5 had F2P, season 6 gave us fleets, season 7 gave us the romulans and so forth. I think that more smaller patches is a step in the right direction.
Even playing from season 6, plenty of previous seasons have had just as many patches and fixes, let alone the ones before. the frequency of patches is not unusual.
yes, it would be ideal if everything works on the first day. let me know know that magical MMO turns up.

Don't knock patches, it means things are (hopefully) getting patched and fixed!
Yes patches really help by fixing stuff that should have been worked on before release, than only to break stuff already working fine or break stuff even worse than before. Oh and most patches seem to only fix current issues and not ones dating a year+ old, so no not happy by a long shot. Fixes doesn't mean they fix older related problems, and sure as hell doesn't mean not causing even worse problems with each fix, just look at what they have done with a problematic skill such as BFAW!

And I'm sure you can program a perfect game with no glitches at all.
I think the complaint isn't about the patches but about the completely unready state of s8 when it launched. It wasn't even remotely close to ready, and they haven't even finished it by putting in the Voth zone yet. Maybe it'll turn into another Defera communications tower? No that wasn't supposed to be there, ignore the map that shows it there too.

So everyone tends to agree that lazy programming is simply the norm, and everyone should conform and live with it is what you are telling me! :mad:
you do realize that usually a seasons content isnt done until the next is released, correct?
if they were to wait until everything was 100% done and 100% bug free, you'd have one update a year, and thus we would basically be at season 3 right now instead of season 8 + an expansion.

It takes a long time to "bug test" in the same way that having a thousand players play it for one day will. Too long to be practical.

If you want a static, unchanging game where most of the bugs have been ironed out, go play a game that isn't an MMO, as unfortunately at the rate MMOs are updated to remain active, something will always break.
So I am guessing their own beta tests along with beta servers for player's to test on serve no purpose?
Some bugs only show up on Holodeck due to the lack of people testing on Tribble. If there is 100,000 people playing on Holodeck and a bug only affects 100 of them, then it won't show up on tribble since that is only 0.1% of the players and there is a very low chance of those players going on tribble and reporting it. There is also the issue that some fixes are not bugs, but responses to player feedback. Just look at the beginning of Season 7 with the 40 hour projects and equipment projects requiring 20 hours to complete instead of 2 minutes.
Their own beta tests catch a lot of bugs that we never see. After all, a Season goes to tribble before all of the content for the Season Premiere is done. We basically get a somewhat fixed version of the game where we have no clue how many bugs that we never see. There are also some bugs that are caught on Tribble by players and the devs fix them before they go live, but the devs have a bug priority list. Some bugs that are encountered on tribble by players could be very low on the bug priority list and will be fixed weeks after the Season is launched. However, Tribble's main purpose is to get the players excited for a Season. Not everyone goes on tribble and the excitement generated by certain players certainly helps the game. So Tribble and their internal test servers serve a purpose.

I can think of at least 3 bugs that were caught on tribble that never made it to the live server.
1: I think it was season 6, KDF chars who had armor visuals disabled would walk around in an invisible EV suit even when the EV suit was active. Kinda fun on Nukara. Just a graphic glitch though.
2: Season 7, One of the new solar system in Tau Dewa had a duplicate system object. Again, strictly cosmetic.
3: LoR, the boff unseating bug was 10x worse on tribble. It would clear ALL boff stations every time you changed a map. the variant of this that made it to live was greatly reduced in scope and frequency. It didn't always happen, and didn't always unseat all boffs.

While there are bugs that are liveable, they tend to cause ones that are game breaking quite often. And as for the outfit/costume bugs, those are plain old laziness and perfect example of not testing before implementing.

If this is your idea of a "game breaking bug" you really have to relook at your priorities. Outfits are a pretty low compared to boff leaving seats and powers and ships.

Also keep in mind that this season had the winter event so that's sort of a mini season in itself.

Sure he can... I mean, it's as simple as:
if(error == TRUE) {
error = FALSE;
}
Well you know, some people are only truly happy when they're miserable, as surely as some just want to watch the world burn.
