Launcher fails to update

been trying for the past 3 hours to login to sto. open launcher and get:
Trying to update the launcher.
please be patient.
Tried connecting 5 times.
Unable to establish connection to patch server. please check your internet connection. if problems persist, please contact technical support.
This started last night at 5pm est. figured the 15+ hours would've solved this. I have put this in then bug report section as well, but no responses since 2 days ago. I have installed the game and re installed through arc to no avail. Even a steam install gives me these messages.

Just tried playing Blacklight: retribution and get the same error.
