2. This project only costs 1 commendation. The other reps all cost 10k expertise, 30k+ ec in commodities and up to 32 marks.
3. This commendation is automatically given on completion of the first STF per day. You need to play one mission per day to grind dyson rep.
4. This mission also gives marks, meaning that you can either get an extra 150-450 commendation exp (depends on which mission you play, TBE is the highest) or save enough marks to buy gear upon reaching tier 5.
5. Advancing a tier only costs 5 marks.
If you only play 1 mission per day, you will end up at tier 5 in 40 days with ~1500 extra dyson marks. This is FAR easier then the omega or nukara reps.
The gear is also cheaper - only 9k dilithium for gear that costs 15k in the other reps.
The little talked about part of the rep is that you need exactly 40 commendations to advance through the entire thing.
100000/2500
The easiest way to get 40 commendations is to do the 20 hour 350 marks project (it literally takes a half hour to get 350 marks in the battlezone) eight times
So four hours of battlezoning and then logging in once every day for 30 seconds = hard?
This is without doing the little 150 point projects, you could speed it up a LOT depending on how hardcore you want to be in game every hour.

My only complaint, literally the only one, about this rep is that the tiered missions that are given out so far have been only cutscene with zero interaction.
The romulan ones actually had missions to do. In that regard I am wholly disappointed. =/

I agree with you... Yes it's another grind but its been made far simpler. I have avoided the reps until now... I leveled up one toon in Romulan rep to tier 5 but am now completing them all. I have 15 toons I want to get the rep on mostly for the passives. I'm already tier 3 Dyson on one person and I'm going to use the sponsor token for the rest after he is leveled up. I've also shifted my toons to doing the Dyson for dilithium as it is a better grind than anything else when it comes to time invested. You get your dilithium and your marks at the same time without cooldowns.
With the sponsor token I have four other reps that started tier 1 Romulan when S8 went live and are now approaching tier 4 Romulan and should be tier 5 next week at the latest.
I for one am very happy about that and there is probably more sales in it for Cryptic as a result. I'm playing my alts again instead of using them just for dilithium grinding. So whine if you like folks but this grind isn't much of a grind anymore. Grinding is never going to go away... this is an mmo. This game also is F2P... so get used to it, or move on to something that suits your tastes.

Im surprised so many people are already at tier 3 actually. I am 1 commendation project from it, but i could have gotten there I guess, you guys are grinding it hard though.
Mathematically if someone had like 16 hours a day to play they could already be tier 4. Or very very close.

10-20 minutes of Sphere space zone missions gets me enough marks to do the 2500 rep and 2 140 rep missions, and still have 50+ marks per day.
Yes it is the easiest lo level, but the same grind to get the sets, especially if you want more than one....
The grind for gear is less than the others because there is no grind to unlock the stores. You pay for the gear that comes with the tier and that's it. You also get your dilithium at the same time so no need to go do dilithium dailies on top of earning your marks. Since the tiers are easier to obtain and their isn't a store to unlock it's certainly not the same.

I don't think they will do this again. If there is one universal complaint out there even for those like S8, it's the need to put a mission in there instead of a cutscene.

Another thread of people complaining about complainers.
Is this the easiest reputation? When it comes to the daily grind it really is no different than the daily grind it rquired players for the other reputations All it took was 1 Elite STF, 1 Elite CE, 1 Tau Dewa daily or a Epohh Tagging. These required the same amount of time it takes to do your Allied zone commendation grinding, and they were far faster than the Dyson PvE queued events.
Now if we are talking about working ahead, then yes Dyson reputation has its advantages in converting Dyson Marks into Commendations and you can do a week's worth of grinding and stockpiling ahead so you can lay back without needing to do anymore work.
Now then you factor in players with multiple characters, THEN IT DOES BECOME A GRIND. Because on one character it's cake, but the more characters you have and you don't want to wait..........the more of a grind it becomes.

Running in a team = every zone flips in about 10 minutes tops. Our fleet is pretty pro at ground stuff. Not to be ego or anything, just stating truth, our fleet leader is a ground player through and through.

Easy? Hard? doesnt matter to me either way.
Now is it fun? is it boring? thats what i care about more then difficulty. Just because mmo=grind doesnt mean it has to be boring. I've seen several people mention this in the past couple of days. The trick is to hide that 'grindy' feeling behind activities that are fun and exciting.
Despite me having done WoW dailies ever since Burning Crusade, even on as many as 8-10 characters i still found them enjoyable. I skipped out on Cataclysm expac, but then i came back to Pandaria and the dailies were still ok. They were starting to get tedious so i only did them all on 2 characters, then on the rest of my characters i only did a select few. Now i compare that to SWTOR which has (imo) crappy dailies and crappy locations for you to do them in. At least with STO the locations are kinda nice like New Romulus and the Sphere (even though sphere is kinda graphics intensive). The only thing that i think sucks with STO dailies are the types of activities you have to do.

I don't care how you slice it... this rep is easier than the rest... All you have to do is the math to see that. Now for the folks that log in for 1/2 hour and that's it, well yeah, those people are are going to take a while to complete it. If all you are going to do is queued events or space well then you are putting yourself at a disadvantage because ground is where it is at for getting the marks the fastest. If your zone is moving to slow then change instance to one that has their TRIBBLE together.
I'm actually pushing through on one person so I can get the sponsor token to do the rest.... otherwise I wouldn't be logging in every hour (not all night but probably 8 hours a day just to do do the project and back off). I have multiple toons but with this new sponsorship deal, I'm breezing through my alts on the past reps (tier 3 or higher since going live)...
I'm not a grind fan but I've come to understand that its par for the course in mmos. The difference here is the grind doesn't start at level 1 like most mmos. I love getting my dilithium with the marks even on non-stf type stuff... its getting double for your time basically. All I'm really saying is the grind isn't going away so make the most of the improvements that have been put into season 8. I want more story too but I'm not going to not play the new content and do the rep just because there is less story with it.

That's your opinion.
And sponsorship token is a joke. Only good for those who haven't hit Tier 5 on their alts. Does no good for people who just started a reputation.

I mentioned this in another thread, but i'll post it here too. If you play at the minimum 1 hour a day you should be getting more rep with the new system. By my calculations the only way you are making less rep with the new system is if you only log on long enough to start and complete projects. This is if you are on for less then an hour, could be 45 minutes or just 5 minutes. As long as you have currency or if it only takes you less then an hour to get it. To match what you get in the old system you are only claiming a one hour project and starting another. After that you can leave it alone until your 20 hour project is finished (or keep doing more 1 hr projects).
Scenario 1:
2 hour play session every night
6:00 PM - start 20 hr project, start 1 hr project #1
7:00 PM - claim 1 hr project #1, start 1 hr project #2
8:00 PM - claim 1 hr project #2, start 1 hr project #3, go to bed
6:00 PM (the next day) claim 20 hr project, claim 1 hr project #3, repeat
total claimed = 2500+450=2950 rep
6:00 PM - start 20 hr project, start 20 hr project
7:00 PM - play
8:00 PM - go to bed
6:00 PM (the next day) claim both 20 hr projects
total claimed = 2800 rep
Scenario 2:
Only play 1 hour every night
6:00 PM - start 20 hr, start 1 hr #1
7:00 PM - claim 1hr #1, start 1 hr #2, go to bed
go to work/school/etc
6:00 PM - claim 20 hr, claim 1 hr #2
total claimed = 2500+300=2800 rep
6:00 PM - start 20 hr, start 20 hr
7:00 PM - stop playing, go to bed
go to work/school/etc
6:00 PM - claim both 20 hr projects
total claimed = 2800 rep
Scenario 3:
Play less then 1 hour every night
6:00 PM - start 20 hr, start 1 hr
6:30 PM - go to bed
6:00 PM (the next day) - claim 20 hr, claim 1 hr , start 20 hr, start 1 hr
6:30 PM - go to bed
total claimed = 2500+150=2650 rep
6:00 PM - start 20 hr, start 20 hr
6:30 PM - go to bed
6:00 PM (the next day) - claim both 20 hr projects, start two more 20 hr projects
6:30 PM - go to bed
total claimed = 2800 rep
Scenario 4:
Only logging on every night long enough to claim projects and start new ones (currency stockpiled)
6:00 PM - start 20 hr project, start 1 hr project, go to sleep
6:00 PM (the next day) claim 20 hr, claim 1 hr, start another 20 hr, start another 1 hr
total claimed = 2500+150=2650 rep
6:00 PM - start 20 hr, start 20 hr
6:00 PM (the next day) claim 20 hr, claim 20hr, start two more
total claimed = 2800 rep

This is the result of so many people complaining non-stop about time gating.
It also means the complaint pendulum will swing another way. Hopefully Cryptic will be able to come up with a happy medium for whatever comes down the pike in season 9, because the people who complained about how long the rep system took last time are probably going to be screaming there's nothing to do a month from now, and probably until season 9. At least, unless Cryptic has other features in mind for S8.
Stop complaining about Dyson Reputation grinds. A simple analysis proves why:
1. The main project gives 2500 commendation points - 500 more then Omega, Nukara or Romulan.
2. This project only costs 1 commendation. The other reps all cost 10k expertise, 30k+ ec in commodities and up to 32 marks.

You don't say. It's not like it was toted in the run up to S8 that the Rep system would be revamped.
Just start praying to whatever god you worship that they revamp the old reps in the same way and any upcoming ones.
You're just a machine. And machines can be broken.
And sponsorship token is a joke. Only good for those who haven't hit Tier 5 on their alts. Does no good for people who just started a reputation.
I beg to differ on that it does no good for those characters who haven't started their reputations. The token helps them get the reputation done twice as fast as one's first character to do the reputation. Take, for instance, the reputation start-off of any of the reputations. The XP needed for reaching Tier 1 from Tier 0 is 5000 XP, if you have the token and then begin two projects, one being the 1600 XP project and the other being the 4000 XP project, you get Tier 1 in a 20-hour period. How is that not good for those characters who have yet to start a reputation? By the way, the Double XP for the reputation is a permanent thing for the life of the character.

So your complaint is that running the same thing on multiple characters at the same time makes something a grind.
...Duh?
I'll take running "TRIBBLE around space adventure zone killing things for like 3-5 minutes" over "run the exact same STF on every character" any time. :V
Also the tokens help plenty if you're not daft enough to try and grind something on every character you have at the same time. That was kind of the point. To help people who want to do reputation on alts, since the rep system dissuaded making new alts due to the time investment involved in the rep system. There's nothing so amazing in Dyson rep that you need it on every character at the same time or ohmahgerd you'll just explode.
Dyson Rep is by far the single easiest rep to casually run while also facilitating faster progress if you decide you absolutely HAVE to grind it. You're fundamentally wrong in suggesting it's equivalent to Tholian, Romulan, or Borg rep systems in overall grind-ness.
The Dyson Reputation system is by far the most player friendly rep grind of the 4 reputation systems.
Has it was already stated we only need one Dyson Commendation to fill the Daily Rep project and you can also use the one hour project to earn 150 Rep XP to help move the chains along.
My plan is to complete the Dyson Rep with one Character and then just send sponsor tokens to my 9 other Characters.
Being able to get 5000 rep XP for the daily and 300 XP for the one hour mission will help you breeze past the Dyson rep with your alts!
I hope that all of the Rep systems get retrofitted to match the Dyson Rep.
I beg to differ on that it does no good for those characters who haven't started their reputations. Okay then prove it to me, do that method and see if you can your alt to Tier 5 within 40 days. While I grind out 9 characters the old fashion way and see which one is faster.
So your complaint is that running the same thing on multiple characters at the same time makes something a grind.

Hey buddy, the reason why people complained the first place about the Reputation is that players were frustrated in doing it on multiple characters. Did they fix that? NOPE!
Dyson Rep is by far the single easiest rep to casually run while also facilitating faster progress if you decide you absolutely HAVE to grind it. You're fundamentally wrong in suggesting it's equivalent to Tholian, Romulan, or Borg rep systems in overall grind-ness.
Omega Reputation = 1 Elite STF (Enough for 1-2 days of reputation) = 15 Minutes
Tholian Reputation = 1 Elite Nukara Event (Enough Reputation for 1-2 days) = 15 Minutes
Romulan Reputation = 1 Tau Dewa Daily (Enough Reputation for 1-2 days) = 15 Minutes
Romulan Reputation = 2 Minutes per day for 1 week = 400 Romulan Mark Epohh
And that's just by doing the dailies. But oh hey "its easy because you can convert 350 Dyson Marks to commendation" which is 5 days of free rep for doing some time in the Battlezone. Yep while one Epohh Tagging yields enough reputation to last me for 2 weeks.
Eh, I have a hard time calling it a 'grind' this time around. I'm having a blast just running around in the battlezone or even the contested zone. I'm not sure if it's the ease of being able to jump in and out of the action at my leisure, but it feels like a lot less of a 'chore' than the previous reps that generally centered around queues you got locked into.
Damn beat to this part, while the rep is super easy to advance the marks gained are only good. Omega marks are still rewarded in larger amounts while nukara and romulan are slower to obtain. The auto store unlocking is a good way to save time and money until you notice the tier claims require dilithium (not a lot that I have seen so far) so it is somewhat of a trade out. The big issue is just like romulan and nukara rep gear the high dollar space gear requires 250 more marks per piece than the equivalent omega. So while I do find the grind to build rep tiers up much more favorable than the others, the costs of purchasing items and tier claims to simply be good and not great.
Okay then prove it to me, do that method and see if you can your alt to Tier 5 within 40 days. While I grind out 9 characters the old fashion way and see which one is faster.

What will happen when people finish the voth rep and move on, Cryptic WILL move on and release another Adventure Zone and another Reputation system and naturally players will move along leaving the old areas deserted.
And what happens to new characters? they have to do a reputation system with deserted zones so the Battlezone is "easy" now but 3 months from now? how about next month when the Winter Events rolls out?
The Battlezone is still a great source of Dilithium and I forsee it it remaining relatively popular even after people finish with the rep. Even with fresh level 50 alts, I've still been able to solo everything except the V-Rex + silos(can usually do one or the other just fine, but my boffs tend to die off too quickly if I try to juggle both). I might die to some cheese every now and then(curse you spec op stunlocking charge spam!), but the content is mostly doable by people who have a good mechanical understanding of the game.
Likewise, I have characters that can take and hold towers by themself in the Contested zone. Mind you, the constant AE spam does get a bit more tedious than the variety you can find in the Battlezone. It also doesn't have the whole dilithium draw the battlezone has either.
Eh, I have a hard time calling it a 'grind' this time around. I'm having a blast just running around in the battlezone or even the contested zone.
So in that respect, it is a grind.
Like to know how you manage to get 350 in 30 minutes, because it takes me 2 hours running through two full battlezones to earn that many.

I'd rather it paid out a "mere" 2000 rep and have a companion project that paid out 800 every 20 hours as well. Such as it is I'll have to complete the hour one with lower pay out several times over the course of the day just to finish the rep grind as quickly as all the other factions.

You don't say. It's not like it was toted in the run up to S8 that the Rep system would be revamped.
Just start praying to whatever god you worship that they revamp the old reps in the same way and any upcoming ones.
Okay then prove it to me, do that method and see if you can your alt to Tier 5 within 40 days. While I grind out 9 characters the old fashion way and see which one is faster.
Hey buddy, the reason why people complained the first place about the Reputation is that players were frustrated in doing it on multiple characters. Did they fix that? NOPE!
Instead, they helped out weekend warriors.
Do the math, kid.
Allied Zone Commendation = 10-15 minutes
Dyson Event = 20-30 minutes
So really, who are you kidding?
Praetor of the -RTS- Romulan Tal Shiar fleet!
There you go I fixed that for you!
Praetor of the -RTS- Romulan Tal Shiar fleet!
Funny, didn't know get 35 when you divide 2500 into 100000.
Eh Drak said it well enough. :P
