Not sure what chg'd in last 8 hrs but now I can't even get patching to complete

Well... I'm back again... and Bran Flakes or some other moderator will probably have to move this again since I could no longer see a related moderator thread...or any relavent new thread.
Last nite, before 2cd patch, and after 1st one, I was crashing as character selection screen popped up... of the various suggestions put forth in thread was one about a recent windows update creating problems, unfortuenately the author was not specific.
I am not sure he was correct, but I DO know this...since I went to sleep last nite and then tried to log onto game just now, 2 things have happened, with 1 or both causing the problem to get worse...now I can't even get past 31% of patch before launcher crashes.
One of the things that has occurred in that time was the 2cd shutdown...the other was my downloading the Windows update that were sent when my computer auto updated while I was sleeping.
5 outa 6 of these updates were security ones related to "Malicious Software Removal Tool" [altho I was still waking up...it may have been "invasive" not "malicious"]... interesting enough, last ones were also primarily about this... which begs the question... if this is the source of problem, what is attempting to install on my comp that Windows sees as Malicious/Invasive...?
For any others whom may be interested, ticket number is now 14180033.
I seriously hope this helps as I will play games off CDs for a day or 2 before looking for a new one...unfortunately, if I am forced by this lockout to find a new game in a day or 2, it will be the conclusion of my STO experience.
In closing and on an unrelated subject, even if this is made to work again, I hafta wonder what updated Windows will think of ARC...? LOL
Hope this helps you STO folks sort out this mess...before it is too late... I enjoy the game immensely but am pretty much at my limit for tollerating all the current glitches...and from what I see on Forums atm, you folks have managed to break ALOT of the aspects of STO, even for those lucky enough to get into game, with premature launch of season 8.
