I just returned from a break from STO (I like to mix my online gaming up a bit) only to find the away teams are now totally TRIBBLE. I was initially stunned to find that I was being killed very easily by the enemy, only to realise that I was getting no backup from the away team, as they were all miles away from me! When I went to check where they had gone, some were trapped on a bit of scenery, others just stopped walking altogether! What is going on? Now I find that the ground missions are just annoying, as I have to shepherd every away team member through every door, around every bit of scenery etc etc.
Don't get me wrong, this is probably the best online game with regards to playability, but please slow down on the content release and speed up the fixes!!!

Also As i'm rebuilding a new Reman Fed character, I Also noticed in the mission The Undying", you get stuck at wave 1, without any other waves coming out.

Does anyone else suffer with a 'tard away team?
Only happens on nimbus and on one other, romulan specific, mission.
Its not even "there since release" but seems to be a rather newish problem, seems it got patched in recently on accident, so no need to cry about "fix things then release new stuff" bugs happen in every iteration of software.
Well it looks like we do, if indeed they 'broke' the game with an accidental fix! Besides, nimbus isn't a 5 minute episode, so herding the away team around just makes it longer.
Nimbus sucks anyway. Seriously, my ship has a gorram transporter. What am I doing hoofing it every-****ing-where?
I played to get past it and replayed the last mission for the piercing tet DBBs, and then left and never looked back.

And of course, it has to have sandworms, because that's like a law of science fiction that every damn desert planet in the universe has to have sandworms.

i was thinking swtor's tatooine doesnt have sandworms but then i am forgetting the sarlacc, unless that doesnt count.

It does if you think of tube worms. But yeah, functionally the sarlacc's more like an overgrown ant lion with tentacles.

Well far as the Rambo comment the only class I can pull that off with these days is Engineering if I prep the battle space and have the right kit. Basically bunker busting or the fabrication where I can use the orange shield, drop the shield/medical generators drop the turrets, kick out my drone/drones if I have it and go to work. Also if you've gotten the shard from "boldly they rode", 2 more short term pets you can call for.
There are ways around not having your away team.

last time i heard the mention of the word rambo was a rambo medic from wolf enemy territory and those guys were bloody hard to kill unless you were a panzernoob .
but i have never been able to completely become a rambo at much point on STO, never cared to be overpowered and having a challenge is the point in enjoying game sometimes.

Nabreeki actually has a point in there. 90 percent at least of everything done on the ground with away team you end up doing yourself anyway.
God forbid you give your engy away team guy a cover shield or generator. Watch them place it 100m away from any sort of action.

I long ago learned to never, under any circumstances, give my boffs cover shield. They put them in the absolute worst places..... and you can't get rid of them.

I once had one completely block off a doorway with it. I couldn't even get past until I realized I could manually command him to put a new one someplace else.

Dune is pretty much the origin of "giant worms living on desert planets" trope. It's like after Tolkien, everyone started aping his stories the immortal elves and Scottish dwarves, so everyone started aping Herbert with the sandworms. Bonus points if they copied the space Arab-Zulu warriors too.
I've noticed it a lot on missions that were new to LoR or recent additions. Usually LoR missions that take place on ships or on Nimbus 3 in the Syndicate fort and the Gorn Canyon. When i have to go into the Syndicate prison i pretty much walk down there backwards so that i can manually unstuck any away team members.
There was a mission a looooong time ago on Bajor where you go into the pit of fire. My away team members would always get stuck on the catwalks. Even if there was nothing in blocking them or they werent snagged they just didnt want to move. I took a break and came back about a year later, played the same mission and it still have pathing issues.
So if your away team was all Caitian/Ferasan, would they be...
...leo 'tards?
<cue groaning>
Nimbus is by far the worst mission for AI pathing I've come across in STO. I've found that setting a rally point when Boff's get stuck or just stop moving jars them awake and they start moving again. Until they stop. Then set another rally point. Continue ad nauseam. Definitely needs a fix, but rally points take it down from Torturous to just Obnoxious.
Star Trek: Online - Now with 100% more dinosaurs!!
like Glados says about the cake, the same is true for the ai pathing on N3. due to the need for your ai followers sit in one rigid formation all the time it causes problems if your ai follower runs into a wall and the ai matrix isn't intelligent enough to get itself out of trouble by plotting another ai path out of the issue. sometimes an ai follower gets stuck on a map tile. occasionally so do i. so it may not just be the ai pathing that could be messed up a few maps in my time on STO have also been screwed up thoroughly enough that in one instance doing exploration grinding before f2p my ai followers did not move at all, on another instance on several different planets, the ai followers found an exploit in the map you cant use and they end up under the ground, i even ended up outside map bounds once as well when i was beamed down on this tree like structure at a corner of a map and just fell off.
it is best to make sure that maps are clean of issues and the pathing is correct, but i doubt N3 will be revisited any time soon.

You can activate Boff ground abillities yourself. You can disactivate the Boff AI and take full control, you can keep it activated and have some control or you can give full control to the AI. If you do the latter don't complain about their behaviour.
There are pathfinding issues on Nimbus. They weren't there, now they are and yes, it needs a fix.
The sandworms aren't impressive, but you only have to fight them in the second episode of the cycle. I often replay Station 18 and I can get there, bypassing the worms, without getting a scratch.
Those platforms with throwing Gorns are imo a nuissance. They don't hurt, but you get knocked down constantly. There are to many of them and they respawn to fast, no point of fighting them and since that is the case, what is there point anyway?

What i'm afraid of is it may be a problem not just limited to Nimbus 3. Are they doing something new in map creation that is causing your away team to have these issues? will dinosaur land have pathing issues as well? Smash and Grab is a Romulan mission (under chapter named "Allies") and there are issues on the ships too. Other ship or station layouts with corridors dont have problems, but why this one? Were they using a new method of creating maps? are they doing something new with creating these maps that is causing the already bad pathing AI to get worse?
Another thing too is the ground portion has you beaming from your ship to freighter 1, then you beam to freighter 2, then you beam to freighter 3. A lot of times though your team doesnt beam with you. I wonder if these freighters are actually just on one big map with each freighter separated by distance. Are you actually beaming to an instance with freighter 1 then a separate instance with freighter two? or are you in freighter 1 at x=1, y=1 and then you "transport" over to freighter 2 which is on the same map but at x=1000, y=1000 a couple thousand meters away. I suspect that when i beam from freighter 1 to 2 my team sometimes glitches out and gets left behind. They will be on follow, not standing in a spot, but sometimes they still wont transport.
I was going to farm up a reward from Smash and Grab which meant i had to go through it 6 times. But i got so sick of the pathing issues that i just gave up after the first run through and i ran Sphere instead for the gear. Then i got tired of that too just cause i'd already done it so many times so i just bought some gear from the exchange :P

Assault through tactics work here. Take out a group and move on to the next before it has a chance to respawn.
Have I seen this?
Yes. Nimbus required the most cat herding and hand holding to get my team out of the canyon. But I also see it on older maps. Drozana when you go below they can get stuck on decorations and one one occasion a map tile. Basically they got confused by a painted line. :P
Since this did not used to be an issue, I assume it is being fixed. . . . . . . .
