the STO website is virtually unconnectable for me since yesterday mid afternoon. im having to resort to google to get to the forums as a result. i do not know what the issue is but it hangs or when it does get through on a connection it is so slow it's not worth wasting the effort. in addition to this even the forum a little slow to load.
just for reference, the game works without issue and hardly any lag, and every other site i load up does it immediately. what ever it is, is directly with the STO website.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
Was wondering if it is just me or did anyone else notice that the forums have slowed to a crawl last couple of days...I have no problem what so ever playing STO just the forums are slow.
...talking to players is like being a mall Santa. Everyone immediately wants to tell you all of the things they want, and you are absolutely powerless to deliver 99% of them.
*hooks up the 56k, logs in with old details. the Modem dials out with the characteristic beeps and electronic noises* right now i would kill to have even a 56k connection on the other end, even if the lagecy puts it at 250ms. it's better then this.

Just popping in from the other thread, this is annoying an 56k would be better right now, just wondering if this world wide or localised to a region (not enough thread's to be worldwide) so im from the UK, everyone else experience these problems... where are you all from?
Ok there goes my theory, so this is happening across the whole player base, great. Oh well guess this is gonna be another piece of work on the pile before Tuesday.... yay!

Greensboro, NC with a ~2 MBps connection and I'm experiencing forum lag, and often pages will even outright fail to load with an error message.
It seems PWE is so utterly ****ing incompetent at programming that not only does their glorified adware not work properly, but they can't even keep their website working.

It seems to be only STO, since I can go into the other PWE fourms , and neverwinter foumrs pretty fast, STO is super slow, but CO is kind of slow, but not as slow as this.
I swear it's like this happens only on the weekends...maybe it's a defense mechanism to detour impatient posters from making stupid posts, while they take their weekends?
It's been extremely slow here in Norway the entire weekend, so whatever that forum maintenance did, they screwed something up badly, since it's been a long time since the forums were this slow.
Sure they can be slow from time to time, but it's usually over with in a few hours, but this has been going on the entire weekend, so something is not right...
Cryptic, might I suggest that Emergency power to Forums III be activated ASAP Zulu???

It's been going on for a few days; it didn't start yesterday or Friday after work, so it's not just a weekend thing.
I've experienced this on other sites in the past, but usually when the site engineers were working on the site. I wonder if PWE's site engineers are finally fixing more of the issues besetting STO players in the fora. I noticed a few days ago that some things work now that didn't in the past.
Its a PW tactic. Put forums on old slow servers and make the negative threads and posts slow down overall when people rage quit the forums. Its less overall bad word of mouth for newcomers to read when they sign up.

If it's anything like what happened last time we'll probably find out the site was under attack and someone has pinched all the passwords and usernames. Hopefully unlike last time they won't wait for a year to tell us.
I'm having 56k flashbacks. AHHH, Who picked up the PHONE NOO!!!!!!!!
You're lucky it was 56K. My first modem in 1988 was 1200 baud. And the phone line was shared between three computer owners/users and one computer user (not owner). It was always yelling from one room to another, "Is anyone using the phone? I need to dial a BBS." "Yes!" would be the usual answer.

Note: Didn't they do a 48 hours maintenance on the forums last week?

It partially is anyway, it uses Internet Explorer.
Ditto on the forums running horribly the entire weekend.

then i have to refresh to make it load the page.
It. Is. Annoying.
I think we deserve a forum tribble for this... every activation moves our join date back by one day.

Getting errors like that here as well, plus Gateway Timeout messages, extreme slow loading, and assorted other unpleasantness.
