Old Reputation Update Feedback (Response to Branflakes' Stream Question)

edited November 2013 in Reputation System
In Branflakes' recent stream showcasing S8 he revealed Cryptic's plans for reputation with Dyson. He then posed the question of people wanting the old reputations to be updated in kind. I believe the answer from everyone is a resounding YES!!! :D

I was kind of expecting ALL the reputations to be streamlined in S8. Please start updating the old reputations as soon as possible! If you agree, let your voice be heard so that Cryptic may get the responses they need to go forward with this very important task. Please do not prolong our suffering!

My understanding is that the tokens will be for all existing reps. The # of marks for turn-ins vs commendation use will later be adapted for the old reps if it works out for the Dyson rep.

Why don't we wait just a little while to see how well the new system works in the real world first.

    This x100.

What is said by Cryptic employees in podcasts/interviews/livestreams and what actually goes into the game are often very different. Considering they just doubled the Dyson mark costs for the gear in that rep tree, I'll definitely wait and see how this works in-game before getting excited.

Edit: it seems that they doubled the Dyson mark cost across the board.

They doubled it? Well that's unfortunate. For the briefest of moments it seemed as if we were steering away from grind.

They tripled the input costs for EC at the same time.

God forbid the focus is actually on the content itself, rather than the associated grind...

The project costs still cost less than the similar projects in reputation. Remember that that cost doesn't go up with tiers.

The focus of content is the grind. The game is artistically wonderful, all you have to do is hit spacebar and enjoy the graphics.

This will likely end the superior status of ISE and other STFs as dilithium grinds.

ISE with a good team is still the fastest, easiest mission in the game. Three minutes and you're done. Even with a significantly reduced reward, it'll remain the best source of Omega whatevers.

Yeah because its too easy to max the rep with what they were giving us. I hear they are changing the name from STAR TREK ONLINE to STAR GRINDING ONLINE.

God forbid they actually simplify the system and allow us to focus on the game play instead of grinding, grinding, grinding. This is why I haven't touched Nukare rep and unless there is a game busting reward from the new rep I won't touch it either.

I am sick of grinding that is the reason I quit Evony and Batheo. The games turned into endless farming for resources and there was no way to enjoy the game.

They are lucky I am a STAR TREK fan so I have no plans to quit this game.

I agree with you 100%!!! I am tired of finishing a grind to get the best "X" and then they release something better a day/week/month later before I can even make use of it in PvP

I'm really getting sick of Cryptic's TRIBBLE with regards to grinding. It is NOT content. Let's gloss over the fact they're MASSIVELY ripping off both Death Star trench runs in "The Breach" and let's forget they're basing this off one of the WORST Voyager plotlines (a show that admitted it didn't give a rat's butt about quality or continuity) -- a choice which is akin to building a castle offshore on sand and in the circle of fire with 5 tsunamis heading your way, but oh yeah you added your "own" talents to the design and made it out of paper -- but this ENDLESS grind system MUST STOP.

It's bad. I have 2 free character slots, but WILL NOT start new characters. Not with this pure bullcrap grind system in place. Not with all the changes they made to the dilithium system -- making everything cost several times dil they used to, and making all things that reward dil give a fraction of what they used to. I will NOT subject myself to another grind like that, because the way Cryptic is going IT WILL NEVER BE FINISHED grinding.

My fleet shipyard on fed side is T3 still. My KDF fleet shipyard is T2. What do they do? They say "Oh, fleets have already maxed out their fleet grinds, we won't get anything from them -- let's make a new shipyard tied to the spire grind!"

It's absolutely obvious why they are doing this. There is NO honorable justification for doing this. They're basing their decisions on a minority of the game's progress in a stupid grind system, and shafting 80% of us up the afterburners that don't have that kind of fleet progress.

I can't even play the game. I can barely work on daily needs for omega grind, rom grind, nukara grind, fleet grind, times 2 factions (KDF and FED), times 4 toons. I'm out of time and have DONE NOTHING just barely getting some of the basic grind done. I can't even play the game anymore. I can't enjoy it.

If this keeps up, not only will I NEVER start another character, I will quit. I've done it before. I'll do it again. Cryptic needs to wise up and get their heads out of... that dark place... and stop the OBVIOUS money grabbing grind.

Repeat it with me: GRINDING IS NOT CONTENT.

Here was a fun 4-man STF event our fleet ran last Saturday that my team won.

we beat ISE in 2:39. People just need to work on their builds more and find the fastest ways to get things done because cryptic is all about the grind.

Pointing out one massively broken aspect of the game is not a defense for another massively grindy aspect of the game.

ROM are so overpowered it's simply mad.

I also like to point out that this special token that doubles the exp for the rep system requires to have a previous character on your account such as a main character or alt character to already have their rep system tier 5.... once that is finished this special token is to be given and is account locked to the rest of your characters.

to be honest they should give that 4k and 1.6k off the bat for the rest of the system and does not require this token... because it takes 20 hours to even finish that exp stuff for that part of the system and your getting only 2k and 800? that's sucks more time than any thing else... and I am talking about waiting over a month at least to get to tier 5 and I believe its not entirely worth the effort but it provides good items for me so I always do it....

I for one very much like the new reputation taking EC over consumables and hope that the other reps are retrofitted.

I'm fine with the "EC instead of consumables" aspect. Consumables were an EC sink, after all, this just eliminates the middleman.

Overall I like the setup of the new Rep, apart from availability issues with Commendations. I think it is overly complex the way that one reward is tracked separately from the other rewards for the daily and team missions.

Just let us get more than one a day if we want. We already can get more than one a day, in fact, it's just random as bonus loot from rep crates and doffing.

You must have missed the cost for the Personal Armor was 900 Marks, but now it's only 750, so it wasn't increased, it was DEcreased. So, there's that.

Also, it's 20 Marks from Tier 0 to Tier 5, and only 20 marks throughout the Rep for the 1 hour project. For the 20 hour Project, it's only 1 Commendation from Tier 0 to Tier 5. Plus, you can get Dyson Marks in the Sphere extremely easily.

If you watch the video and read the dev blogs, the tokens are for the new rep only. THe old reps are not going to change. Brandon did say if the community likes the new system then they possibly will outfit the old reps with the new system.

This is good news at least partially. But the thing that I don't like is for some reason with the last patch on TRIBBLE, they doubled all the costs for the rep and gear. So I say no don't double the cost but ad the new token system and add the sponsor system as well so was can max rep the alts.
If that's the case, then why do you think I was able to sponsor 3 of my alt characters in the Romulan Rep system if it was ONLY for the Dyson Rep?

How about leave them alone? The Dyson rep, for your first character takes 40 tokens to run to T5. Omega can be done in 18 ISE runs. Romulan in 4 Epohhs raised. Nukara, just pick it up as a side benefit whenever the Crystalline Event rolls around. This new format requires twice the grind of the old ones, and given that choice I'd rather deal with commodities.

How is it twice the grind? In ONE mission i can start my 20-hour. Pick up marks as i please to get 5 majiggers for days i only have time to log on, and good god i am so thankful at the removal of expertise needed on Dyson, that drives me nuts with the other three.
