The Entire Team at Priority One Podcast.
We have an exciting show this week, so James, Elijah and Tony decide to skip Trek it out and get right into STO news because there is a BUNCH of it: The new Obelisk Carrier, Featured Episode Replay event, Dev Blogs up the wazoo, Free Lobi, Season 8 official release date, Dyson Joint Command reputation and so much more! If that wasn't enough STO goodness we then sit down with Cryptic Content Designer Kate Bankson to go behind the scenes of the just-released Featured Episode ?Sphere of Influence.? before finally opening Hailing Frequencies and listening to your incoming messages!

Fixed it for them
Cheers,

1) An allusion to Cryptic Kate;
2) It works as a LOST reference;
3) It's a set of children's books, popular in the UK, certainly heard of in Canada if not widely popular (incidentally where LOST got their episode title from); and
4) Profit???
We've decided to change the title of our episode to What Kate Did though, due to REDACTED.
I don't mean to go off on a rant, but the game has issues in terms of 3D and HUD flexibility and its been this way since launch. Fixing the AA, Shadows and explosions so they are not 2D FX on top of 3D models would help the game be more enjoyable in 3D. And making it so we can safe multiple HUD setups with names and load them on demand would be nice. The game engine has been upgraded multiple times and still look really pretty, space battles no longer look like a bunch of ships attached by strings as it did with the pre-beta and early days and ship models have improved a lot (except my beloved Sovi).
LTS, here since...when did this game launch again?
On one side, we don't have to go through the hassle of unlocking stores now. And it's faster to level up your reputation. On the other, it really doesn't answer the problem that people had with the reputation system. While Cryptic did focus on the needs for "weekend warriors" so they can stock up on reputation so they don't have to play every day. But it doesn't solve the problem of players whom has multiple characters and have to play every single one of them daily, which is a massive burden.
Though some might say that the new Reputation Donation system solves that, but it requires you to reach Tier 5 in a given Reputation and sacrifice 100 marks for every reputation boost token. Which makes it useless for those who have multiple characters. Because if you have 6 or 8, that means your main has to save up on 600 or 800 marks in order to donate to each of your characters. And again, it's after you maxed out reputation.
So in the end, it's a worthless system.
Sphere of Influence:
I really enjoyed the episode with the new tech that was brought to the game and of course Mr. Dorn reprising his role as Worf.
Only complaint I had with the episode, well really it's a nitpick, was with the map room. Earth had ESD above Southeast Asia when ESD is geostationary above the North American West Coast. And ESD was see-through (where Tacofangs commented it was due to a software situation). Also, Qo'nos is lacking Praxis. (Tacofangs commented on this as well saying it was hard due to all the pieces of the moon. Though I thought maybe Praxis could've been put far enough that the asteroids that they could've used a gas cloud.?) And too bad the planet maps wasn't improved.
Overall, it was enjoyable as a storyline mission.
Yes, the new rep system is just as useless and annoying as the previous one. The devs basically wanted to keep it the way it is, but created a false illusion of it being less time consuming.
It is still an artificially gated system by 20 hr cooldowns that you are compelled to grind in order to stay competitive.
So, all in all, same grind as before.
Also, "weekend warriors'... lol.
