Look, I'm not here to qualify myself being better than them or not, I'm here as a STO Player, that play games since I got off diapers.
I played Tibia, Mu Online, EVE, Blizzard MMO(You know wich one, I can't put it here, because they would edit the name out)... and lot more MMOs... I also played Starfleet Academy, Klingon Academy, Star Trek Legacy, Star Trek Bridge Commander... let me tell you something: Those are games with fun histories and plausible plots.
Geko is being pointed responsible for some serious misplaced speeches and design decisions...
First: Voth Dinosaurs.
I really hope you will give us some "Trek" reason for them, because when we think about shuttles, transporters, rifles and even air bombardment, there is no reason for T-Rex with beams...
Seems that he in a arrogant act decided that... just because he wants it and we players have to shove it down our throats. Can you drop your ego and create content that make sense?
K'Vort and Galaxy and general player base feedback
Your podcast today was a testament that you're misinformed about the K'Vort and don't want anyone questioning your opinion.
Come on Cryptic, take a look on the Forums, on the Fleet chats, ESD channel, the MAJOR part of the playerbase want an upgrade on the Galaxy.
KDF players are crying out loud for a equivalent of the Scimitar/Andorian Escort.
Why don't you listen to so many requests...?
KDF don't make profit speech
I'll say only this: Make that faction as good as Romulans and Federation, then you will see the player population rising... and then people buying stuff and a sort.
If you don't take care of your farm, would it grow?
A Warning: Blizzard made a stupid decision when they dropped the great lore content of "Blizzard MMO" to put Pandas... the result: Big drop in player base.
LISTEN to the players, take a look on the Foundry, so many good content there... make polls
asking the players about the BIG requests coming
from the player base. Like mapping the most annoying Bugs and correct them.
If someone here step and say that all I said is bull**** and they need to make money, go to school and learn something about marketing first. You can't make profit and be happy with it if your customers are not satisfied.
I wonder how much stress the DEVs and the IT team get on Cryptic and PWE in general.
Well... I do congratulate Taco, Bran and the other DEVs that show up here and talk with the players... even if they can't talk about the decisions being made or the player base acting aggressively most of the time.

Dinosaurs with lasers....overkill for sure, but it's to draw a lower age/immature demographic to sto. I'd rather they be pulled...but it isn't game breaking, I barely play ground as is
Obligatory stuff...
Can I have your stuff?
DOOOMMEEDD!!!!
Looking forward to your mmo...
My PvE/PvP hybrid skill tree
That "in development" status is here for more than two years...
It is not overkill, it is ridiculous... with energy weapons that can blow Borg Relays, what a Dinosaur can do? Why a such advanced civilization would have Dinosaurs instead of flying Shuttles?
You want more stuff for kids, add humor to the content... god, TOS, TNG and even DS9 was full of brilliant and fun moments, we don't see this kind of content here. The universe is darker, to musch conflict? In DS9, in the middle of the Dominion War they made lots of fun scenes with humour... Klingons like to have fun, make jokes... even the Romulans like Sarcasm and laugh a lot.
No, I paid for some of my Stuff...
And... I'm not quiting the game, just want to stop some decisions based on the ego of some members of their staff.
And... Why "my MMO"? Are you mature enough to understand a constructive critic?

When will people stop raging about Trek being added into Trek?
You wanted more "Trek", yet your age when you get it. Make up your minds.
I can't help with your avatar and what you said!
Mr. Wonka...:P
Don't get me wrong... I just like to debate...
"If we're going to be damned, let's be damned for what we really are." - Jean-Luc Picard
Can you explain what you said better?
I'm not raging in the first place, actually you are raging because I stated some content and design problems.
I never saw anyone complaining about loyal content being added to the game... just things like this Dinosaur issue.
I even understand why Romulans are farmers and not Romans anymore...

There is trek reason they were from earth they took a ark( filled with all sorts of dino age stuff) like ship to the delta quadrant.
The galaxy really only needs a slight update in flexibility its perfectly good ship. Just people try and use it for what its not which is the most dps. which a majority of players seem to like doing. SO its really not the ship for them.
Now i agree with the KDF statement if they had more constant ships and content etc. There would be a bigger playerbase. But part of the problem is People are happy playing fed. So even if they tried to really put effort there. Then the whole game would start to suffer profits over all. Its really unfortunate what happend to them, had the kdf been released in better state I doubt it would be as unbalanced as it is now though, I know there would still be more fed. Since they were the most prominent in the shows, we often only saw klingons as the bad guy.
9001x this!
It's blatantly obvious that they don't know what they're talking about sometimes. Is it true that the K'vort is a bigger B'rel? Yes, but not on the scale that they're thinking. At the proper ~350 meter length ( http://www.suricatafx.com/?p=274 ) the K'vort is the same size as just about any other BoP in the game ( http://hydra-images.cursecdn.com/sto.gamepedia.com/7/77/KDF_Size_Chart.PNG ). And if they want to go by the fact that it was often called a battlecruiser, its the perfect size for a that too (see previous link). If they don't want the K'vort and B'rel looking alike, give it another skin! Is that really so hard?
Support 90 degree arc limitation on BFaW! Save our ships from looking like flying disco balls of dumb!
Please educate yourself before trying to critique the decisions of professionals.
Well, since you're so well educated in this matter, can you do more than just decry me?
Sir... Like I said, I'm here to express some points and debate...
I put lots of arguments there and as a experienced player in MMOs, I have my POV as a player, that's enough to form my opinion and put it to debate.
Now, if you have something useful to say, feel free.

If I was raging I would be complaining endlessly about dinos with lasers.
There have been so many people acting silly over them.
Trek is anything it wants to be, there is no limits to the imagination IDIC, including Dinosaurs.
I'm glad the K'vort is not in the game, it's a stupid ship, and a big BOP, that was mentioned in two realities, as well as the B'rel, and both ships were used by the same footage of the same battle in Yesterdays Enterprise, it was the show's way of saving money till CGI came a long and it was rescaled a little better.
Want the K'vort get a magnifying glass and put it on the screen over your B'rel and never go into red Alert....I want new looking KDF ships not the same BOP again because the same model had 3 different names, but used the same footage for all of them. /rant
Seriously, this game needed a heavy boss like this somewhere. The "mini" bosses of borg are tiresome at best, and you rarely see a good one outside that.
You will fight "normal" bi-pedal voth soldiers that have a monster or two up their sleeves.
Instead of thinking of them as dinosaurs all the time realize that they are engineered voth "super soldier/tanks" in a way. Shock and awe man, nothing wets the pants like a F-ing T-rex charging you....
I am Il Shadow and i approve these Shennanigans!

Makes me glad they gave the franchise to Abrams to reboot and pulled star trek off the air. Obviously immersion, believability, writing and player wants take a back seat to "I want dinosaurs with lasers!" Really? Thank god he doesn't work at the CDC or NASA. I can only imagine what half a**ed crack pot ideas he'd unleash on the public.
Hopefully I will be able to grind my way through another of Geko's bad ideas to get gear and forget ground combat with dinosaurs ever occurred. Total disappointment in season 8.
The more I think about it, the more I actually believe that this dev team wants to bring about the worst plot lines in Star Trek, and combine them into a conglomeration of fail. I have played this game since beta, heck I actually bought a laptop (gaming laptop) for this game specifically. I had that much hope and confidence in the franchise and Perpetual. Then cryptic showed up and like the smell of a family member's rotting corpse you just can't get the wrongness out of your memory.
So... you like the idea of T-Rex with Beams? Fine, really, is your opinion and I respect it.
But.. I can't accept that because the major part of the player base felt that unecessary, you call it silly or raging.
And... the point is not with the T-Rex... It's about being loyal to the lore and style. For 48 we have being taught that their current technology don't require ground vechiles or animals for transport and heavy armored troops. Now, by a person decision we have something that goes against all of that.
You know, many people complained about the Romulans, but when you play their history line missions, you understand their motivations. I just hope we have the same explanation for T-Rex with Beams... that's it. Give me some canon loyal explanation for them and OK.
But... what about the rest of my post?

Agreed with the "everything happens" in Star Trek, but even those things have some guidelines.
About the K'Vort, I don't mind with the shape and design, the crowd is crying for a new KDF ship that matters.
"If we're going to be damned, let's be damned for what we really are." - Jean-Luc Picard
Shock troops, The Voth don't have a home world, they live on Huge ships, would you send your people to War when you can just breed ancient killing machines to take the blunt, and become cannon fodder.
If I were most people I would not worry about the Dino with lasers i would be wondering if we are going to wipe them out because when we blow up a dreadnaught we are taking out a town or a city.
Say that to Klingon Academy... that game didn't sell more because of the absense of
advertisement... but even there, It sold more than Starfleet Academy.
The problem with the KDF is really absense of good content... Klingon Academy had one of the most fun campaigns and a very good history.
Put something like that here and the results will begin to rise.
Sometimes I feel that Star Trek Fans are really Elitists and Racists... Like Klingon being Afro people, Romulans being europeans and asians and the Federation "White power" US people.

It's silly when a lot of the threads I've seen have just been obnoxious about it.
May the fleas of a thousand camels infest your armpits for that statement. It is trek blasphemy and has earned you a very serious black mark on your permanent record.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to grab my chair and my beer and my popcorn and enjoy all this nerd rage.
Well, I saw couple of threads with comments going down the level, but the OPs seems to stay in the line when creating the threads.
What I saw was some serious people talking about it, like the Doctor from the You Tube(JustGamming4Us), that guy wrote the book on Star Trek Online and even him didn't like it.
"If we're going to be damned, let's be damned for what we really are." - Jean-Luc Picard
It's fun how the avatars reflect the comments...
Don't forget to mention the last he wrote, that he was glad because it let the franchise rest in peace.
"If we're going to be damned, let's be damned for what we really are." - Jean-Luc Picard
KDF faction definitely needs a bone thrown to them though. That there's a ship in the works for c-store release is more or less certain now, when it'll come though is still to be determined. I'm hoping for S8 launch personally.
As far as dinosaurs go, the Voth would take their pets and beasts of burdens with them when they left Earth so it makes sense that Voth would have dinosaurs or their descendants. We have used horses in combat so it makes sense that alien races would bring in their version of war animals. The cybernetic harnesses on the dinosaurs make the Voth seem more advanced. Voth are the only Star Trek race that could introduce dinosaurs. Essentially, if Voth didn't have dinosaurs and mechs, then they would just be another boring opponent. If you don't want to encounter dinosaurs, then there is plenty of ship content in the Dyson Sphere so you don't have to encounter them.
At least inside there, water scarcity might make sense as an issue.
It never made much sense to suggest that water could be rare or hard for a warp capable species to acquire, so much so that they chase other Voyager at warp, and ignore that every planet Voyager stops at has water.
And getting back onto cryptic.. I see a lot of the same mistakes here as well.. which has me very alarmed for the game and its future. Not saying strickly dino's will kill the game, but as a player and my own set of views.. its lowered the value of the game.. and its view. I understand the process behind bringing them in.. but I think it was a very.. VERY bad mistake. Not saying its a game ender but, like anything there is going to be some impact on the game.. how bad.. who's to say.
And also the issue is quality.. cryptic for me anyways isn't known for quality work. Yes I went there. There lack of fixing bugs... and even acknowledging them is just insane, and I really don't know what the job of the community rep is... other then shooting off videos with his co host, or posting in the rp section. I mean... your the community rep.. serve the community and let us know whats going on with things on a more frequent nature since we have no other source that talks. Havent even seen the man himself Mr stahl come on the forums and speak out.
Anyways, this isn't a rant just a personal view of things I see around myself that are very..... bad for cryptic that should be changed. But it wont.. been here almost 4 years now, and its the same mentality. Fix a few things here and there, add some cstore ships, little content after several months... talk a big game, and that's that.
And just want to remind this isn't a rant, personal attack or anything alike, just trying to shoot my thoughts out here and see if anyone shares the same views or doesn't, just getting what I want to say out. If it sounds like I have I apologise.
whining about dinosaurs, do you even know your source material? this is star trek. in a universe where a man devolves into some kind of freaky spider thing or when you go past warp 10 you inexplicably turn into a prehistoric lizard and has every alien ever, including dimensional beings that could possess you and give you godlike powers, or Q who can do whatever the hell he wants, some bionosaurs suddenly aren't allowed or don't make sense?
get outta here, there is almost no canon in star trek, it was always at the whims and mercies of whomever was the writer, which is why it was rife/riddled with plot holes.
Guys think Q is ok but draw the line at dinosaurs with friggen lasers, when a guy exist in your universe who can just create them out of thin air.
idiotic. and you wanna call geko or the staff arrogant?
