Complete, unadulterated noob question; how do I get this?

Sorry for the complete noob question here. I've Googled this endlessly but I can't find an answer to what this is or how you get it.

I managed to park my ship between a pair of Avenger class ships tonight; one was blacked out and the other looked like it was clad in tungsten. Shortly after this screencap, an Odyssey showed up that also looked like it was tungsten clad.

How does one go about acquiring that nifty skin? The closest I've been able to find is 'skin 4' which just makes the ship look old.

A little help, please?

    the tungsten is the Maco shield fromn the omega Rep

    Various special shields alter a ship's appearance. Most of them are from various Reputation sets. The only non-reputation ones that I can think of are Jem'Hadar, Breen, and Aegis.

    You can also get the Reman shield from one of the missions. I think the Colosseum one.

    Thanks for the replies, guys! Its really cool to see that there are ways to change the appearance! I've really been wondering about that.


    Does anyone know how the guy with the black ship got it that way?

    The black skin is the avengers unique color scheme.

    The Avenger as a ship gets a special "Avenger" skin that is black. Although I'm not sure that's what I'm seeing at the pic, the fleet Avenger also has a fleet skin that is black and grey/silverish.
