The Avenger is OP and needs to be NERFED!!

In before the others!!!:P

Just wanted to get a head start on all the threads and posts to come out asking for a nerf - or an update to their ships because of the Avenger. You know they will start flooding in over the next few days as she starts to see real action in large numbers.

P.S You guys got your nerf already from 1.2 to 1.1 shield mod - so stop your complaining!!:P

P.P.S - Cryptic you better not nerf the Avenger again!! Enough is enough!!!;)

Oh and double P.S - could you change the Fleet B'rel to a 3/3/4 layout and a 27k hull - just saying!! Thanks!!

Oh and could Transphasic torps get the same bleed through as mines!!

Oh and Could we get a Mk XII Breen Set that boosts it stats in the lobi store!

    I have a bad feeling the patch notes mean they are changing the visual of the ambassador to the avenger, and not that the ship is being released yet.

    But that is just me being particular.

    The ship was confirmed for release today in yesterday's blog, although it might not go live until around 10am PDT rather than 0930am PDT, which is when the maintainance is due to finish.

    The patch notes are just reffering to the ESD shipyard model. Which, in my opinion, is about damn time that there was a new ship at that window.

    I actually don't think it's being released today. Haven't seen any patch notes saying it's live, just esd will be showcasing it

    Cryptic has never included C-Store releases in their patch notes. I'm willing to bet that come 10am PST, it'll be up on the C-Store. ;)

    Newromulan my friend, i see nothing wrong with any of your requests, oh and nerf everything that makes this game fun ( we should only use our starting ships ).

    Best bug ever. Cryptic ruined the entire game removing that bug!

    In all seriousness, though. It was a really funny bug watching Cubes, Gates and Unimatricies worble around looking at you.

    I'm pretty sure it's today. They did the same thing with that Romulan ship. All these Dev Blogs about it, then released it with the Thursday Patch.

    Rom > FED > Should be a KDF Ship next.

    Aye, but the patch notes only say:
    • The new Federation Battle Cruiser: Avenger Class is now on display in the ESD shipyard.

    They generaly never state new ships will be released in the Patch Notes.
    STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

    100%!!! I will toss my 32(soon to be 33) c-store ships and shuttle aside and we go back to our first T1 Miranda!!

    Seriously though - the KDF bops need a boost - they are way underpowered now - just changing those 2 things on the Fleet B'rel 3/3/4 and 27k would make her relevant again - and should only take a few hours of coding if that!

    The Breen Mk XII lobi ship set would be cool for those of us who like transphasics

    And with all the new resists and passives + new armor - we need either more torp bleed through or a re-vamp shield mechanic.

    Well, the Dev Blog said it's available tomorrow, BranFlakes confirmed it on Twitter so yeah, it'll very likely be available.

    The Ar'Kif/Ar'Kala warbirds were released on September 12th, but they didn't get mentioned in the Sept 12th patch notes, beyond a known text issue.

    Oh yes, I am not ashamed to admit I put money into this, lolz.

    However I will say this much, if they stop addressing issues with the same gusto they have been, I will go back to my nonpayment >=/

    In all seriousness, although the ship is not super-OP like scimitars, its still not balanced at all. It can mount DHCs, it can cloak, it turns faster than all other cruisers, and has better inertia (better control), but is not significantly weaker in any regard. +40k base hull means its not fragile, 5/3 weapons means it can do the same broadside, etc. Balance means, every strength is accompanied by a coresponding weakness, so that each ship is good at something and bad at something else. The only plausible downside to choosing this ship is that you dont like the BOFF layout. Even if you dont want DHCs or cloaking, you are still going to buy this ship because it is faster and more flexible than all other cruisers.

    This is how cryptic constantly gets balance wrong. Everything is always all positives and no negatives.

    The Avenger looks to be a fine ship. I may make a new toon and get one. That said, how about some new ships for the KDF? Obsolete BoPs and ineffective raptors with bad pivot points are not going to draw players to the dark side. I know, I know, the last new ship the KDF got was a flop and no money was made. That's because the Bortas'qu just wasn't a very good ship. Too big, too slow, too cumbersome. The KDF needs new escort-class ships badly.

    Ugliest ship released to date and oh boy, another federation ship.. Also yeah, the stats on that zen ship are crazy stupid and /facepalm at getting a fleet version out of the box. Gosh Cryptic, if you love the Federation so much, why don't you marry it.
    You know Cryptic has Jumped the Proverbial Shark when they introduced Tractor Pulling to Star Trek Online! :D

    You do realize that the Avenger does not come with a cloaking device. Even then its just a cloak not a battle cloak. I find that I don't use the cloak on my Defiant Refit. Id rather have a different console in its place.

    Avenger is on par with the Scimitar, IMO. Those team powers are not to be sniffed at. And it does some crazy damage. it might spike a little lighter than a scim with battle cloak, but it hits just as hard in the long run.

    Really wonder how much better the Bortasqu' would have sold if they had given it a turn of 6.5 vs 5.5 and inertia of 35 vs 18. :eek: I have my Gorn tac in one just because he likes to be difficult but I think those would have made it a much better ship especially with the boost from the Bortasqu' Cruiser Set adding .5 turn from the 2pc set now and the Ho'Sus pet gets a Mini-disruptor Autocannon.

    p.s. really wish we could get most of the Kdf NPC ships updated models. I counted last night and there were 10 that I might purchase if they were playable, and that would fill out the roster nicely. Make a couple lower tiered with a T5 retrofit and a fleet version for options bang our ship problems are solved. Especially the following ones:

    Vishap Frigate
    Tuatara Cruiser
    Zilant Battleship
    Syphon Frigate
    Nausicaan Destroyer Escort
    Ravager Dreadnought
    Slavemaster Battleship
    Warbarge Dreadnought
    Fer'Jai Frigate
    K'Norr Escort
    Drek'Hi Dreadnought
