It would be nice if you could reappear where you were when you entered into public ques.
Example:
If you're on your starbase, and you enter an STF lets say, after the STF you do not reappear in your starbase, you reappear wherever you were before the starbase.
same if you're in the Dilithium base, or the Embassy, etc.
Essentially, if you're in anyplace that the player-base has to build up, you have to retravel there to be there after an event.
That's due to how holding instances work. From what I can tell, each holding has one instance allowed per fleet, if it empties, the instance ends, and is re-created next time someone enters it. This is likely to save on processing power.
With queues, you automatically attempt to re-enter the instance you were in when you started the event. If that specific instance isn't there, you'll go to another one, as if you just beamed in. When you return from a queue and there's no instance, it dumps you into sector space as a fallback.
I'd expect if, say, DS9 suddenly lost all people while you were playing SB24 or something, you'd have the same thing happen. That non-fleet zones get mulch-instanced is the only reason it doesn't.
