So, one of the things I really enjoy in Star Trek Online, and in Neverwinter is that I can chat with my fleet mates and guild mates across game platforms in their respective channels.
That is a very nice feature, and has helped grow our interest in both games.
What I don't understand is chat in the Arc Client.
You have a chat feature, but not the same one we have used, and love, in the games.
It doesn't track the Friends we have already taken the time to set up in the STO/Neverwinter chat....
Do I need to add people by their PWE forum IDs, instead of their handles, etc?
Will chat be implemented in the future so it is like the nice system we have in STO/Neverwinter with guilds and fleet channels available in the other games?
Thank you-
Chris

Back on topic, there was a chat update for the ARC client a month or so past, but not one that allowed us to communicate in game to Neverwinter or STO players. Might we see that in the future?
I mean, it certainly seems they want us to use it. ; )

I don't use the Arc client, so there's a high probability I don't know what I'm talking about...
But the whole reason STO and Neverwinter (and Champions!) players can communicate in-game is that they're all using the Cryptic chat server, and the accounts are based on the Cryptic @handles.
The Arc chat client almost certainly uses the more universal Arc/PWE user accounts, so any Cryptic chat channels, friends lists, etc. are probably not going to port over.
...talking to players is like being a mall Santa. Everyone immediately wants to tell you all of the things they want, and you are absolutely powerless to deliver 99% of them.
If you look at STO, you see alot of features that are unfinished.
For example: Doff system.
Implemented. Heavily praised. But not one update since.
Diplomacy: Hilariously, it is still in game.
Exploration: Genesis system. Nuff said.
Gateway: Cryptic went on on how "Second Consoles" were needed in games and PWE was pushing it for STO. Then it was never updated again and probably won't. Even though second consoles are the future.
Foundry: I can't wait until Neverwinter comes out so they can update this puppy. El Oh El.

I also don't use the Arc client, but as mentioned above, the chat system for the three games is fully accessible via the web assuming you're a current subscriber/lifetimer to either STO or CO. I chat with my friends, guildmates, and random chat channels all the time thanks to it.

One of Cryptic's best features, IMHO.
Do you remember where the instructions for how to set up an XMPP client to use the Cryptic chat severs are? That could at least give the OP a work-around.
And I agree with you - the reason the Arc Chat doesn't know about the STO and NWN chat is that it's a different chat system. And it's one of the cooler techs Cryptic has. (Together with the whole account system that gives you the charactername@accountname and thus the ability to pick your favorite name regardless of how many other people take it.)
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.
