Boot Camp Territory Control coming soon!

Hi all,

Just wanted to share with you a project we have in the works over at Bootcamp.

We are still very much in the planning stages, but I wanted to share you you two visual teasers to give you some idea of where we going!

We hope that you will support us, and that you start to think about it.

The Siege of Bepi III on the 10th August (scroll to the bottom and register!) is being used to test the scoring for the tournaments which will be used to monitor the Leaderboards.

Originally I was not going to share the surprise, but realised that perhaps if I did you would be more inclined to support it.

I hope you to see you all there. Some of you know how long I have hoped this day would come to pass.

    can't get how this works in particular, but what i see looks really good and long awaited :).

    if this gonna work i'd say someone deserves a pvp-saviour-medal :D :cool:

    Looks cool. I'm usually just a solo PvPer in Kerrat (don't get me wrong though, I build my ships around PvP) but this looks fun. :)

    Yep, been one of those things where it's been said that somebody in the community would have to take the initiative to create something like this - that it couldn't wait on Cryptic to find a way to monetize it to see if there would be an acceptable return on their investment...players have the tools needed to create their own form of campaigns/territory control, etc, etc, etc.

    Interesting, the map seem is quite nice. I am not sure I get or agree with your sector map though. I have not read the rules though.

    I love the campaign idea and the control of territory. But I prefer to play in pug. I really hate to have to make a team that's something that might prevent most people from playing I guess but not dedicated pvper.

    Thanks for all the feedback. Yes the sector map is still in process and these were just to give all an idea what we're working on! The production ones are going to be a lot more detailed!

    In the end we hope to introduce a form of territory control that is based on a tournament atmosphere, one in which winners get to win some cool prizes, together with allocation points which they can either use to

    - build their territory defenses
    - save for use on another tournament map of more importance
    - or use it to initiate another offensive move

    All in all its going to be great fun and we are considering having the following factions:

    - Federation (non-Romulan Allied)
    - Klingon (non-Romulan Allied)
    - Romulan
    - Ferengi/ Tholian
    - Cardassian/ Breen
    - Dominion/ Breen
    - Mirror Universe

    How would the community feel about these factions?

    If we do happen to provide some positive feedback for territory control and show Cryptic how keen folks are, who knows what the future may hold!

    said before drk, you are a legend.

    faction-wise i think dropping the dominion/breen combo in favour of just dominion would be better. there are plenty of dominion-type ships out there and cardassians have the galor and chel grett for themselves so i evens it up a bit.

    but otherwise keep up the good work and i'll make it work :P

    We are working on ways to make this possible. Zensoji1's our resident code guru so we are working on a platform that will cater for some if not all of these concerns!

    Thanks mate, but this is really a community effort!

    There are so many faces to this, and people who deserve our thanks - Kolln, Jedinikon, Sivar, Mimey, Adm. Zenso'ji (thats you!!), Livin, and many more. The fleet leaders for supporting the Senate, and the invaluable contributions and commitment by all the great coaches, asst. coaches and students. Coaches like Stardestroyer who on his own initiative proactively taught fleets in his own time and personally created them a training manual! He's not alone here, as I hear these stories of encouragement and enrichment of the PvP community daily. Its what we do that matters.

    Perhaps I can be accused of blowing a trumpet for them - but if you only knew how dedicated and how hard they have been working, its long overdue!

    People think we are a thing on the past ;)

    We haven't even scratched the surface of our collective potential. Excitement is a choice.

    Assume, however, that I know absolutely nothing about how Boot Camp and the various Tournaments work (it probably wouldn't be far from the truth, as I don't engage in either or pay much attention to 'em). How exactly would this system of yours work? You say it's tournament-based, but what do you mean by that? A quick summary would be nice, at least.

    Hi all,

    The test event on the 10th is really important.

    Although it does not form part of the territory control per se (hence why its not Bepi 113 :) ), which only kicks-off later, its crucial for us to determine if the scoring system works well in a live environment.

    We would really appreciate all your help!

    Do you need to have been to any boot-camp sessions to join? Also, what time is it?

    No you don't :) This is open to the whole community.

    I must just emphasize that the event on the 10th is not really the kick-off of the terriroty control which starts a bit later once at the nuts and bolts are tightened!

    But its also very important because we will be putting out scoring system through its paces :)

    The event starts at 6:00pm CET and will continue well into the event for as long as we can :)

    I've been making comments along those lines, worked out a business model for cryptic that would make them money, worked out the mechanics of such an undertaking and just hope that someone from Cryptic sees it.

    Owing to the fact that I know some of the mechanics involved in this foundry PvP maps would be IMMENSELY helpful to making this breathtakingly awesome.

    I will also ask the VA's to not bother your fleet with any of our projects in the future just to be on the safe side of things ok.
