Because they want to sell romulan ships and convince players to go romulan because its just plain better?

Logically, then, shouldn't GW get a -Repel buff?

P2W aside, Singularity Jump has 5 components to it
    1. 5KM Jump
    2. Accuracy Debuff
    3. Damage Debuff
    4. AoE Damage
    5. AoE Snare

It outclasses GW in every way and is 'free' on all Romulan ships, whereas GW costs LtC or Cmdr slots on others.

cause is romulan and it had to be better in order to sell romulan packs. Now that they sold all the packs the wanted the will fix it..... no i'm jocking! balance is not important here

well, if you're quick enough you can stack them for an even better pull :)

But yeah, GW should be more similar to SJ. They're both singularities aren't they?

I've always thought that GW should get a minor skill cool down debuff and a speed debuff based on how close you are to the center (it is a singularity, and that would be a little more "realistic"), but since TIF I've kinda tabled that idea. Stacking of that would be OP.

If you're specced into particle generators, GW will do significantly more damage than SJ. GW will kill stuff pretty quick, SJ is mostly a getaway mechanism that also has a hold

But yeah, other than that detail, its fairly ridiculous. Singularity tray is basically an extra BOFF that you get for free.

Yeah, GW does do more damage... but it's a wash if you can just walk out of it.

Well I would say the devs do not care that much about sci powers. A better GW would be nice. But I am sure they will buff it when the pvp season comes *cough*

Also a GW is much easier to place, can be buffed by doffs and if you use that jump simply for your singularity you will be out of position and not facing whatever you are pulling.
So I would say the jump is more a defensive tool and GW offensive.

That said I would say romulan stuff is generally on the op side and sci tends to be on the up side because.... reasons.

My stomach is clear and my mind is full of bacon!

I'm all for buffing the pull on GW as modified by graviton generators. Fully spec'd GW3 should be very difficult to escape without using a valuable cooldown, and maybe an engine battery on top of that.

more damage ? it doesnt matter if it will attack 300 or 350, it's useless for pvp, just like tykens rift and psw

anyway, the sj gives them time to battle cloak which is another op aspect

One thing I've not seen mentioned:

Sing. Jump has to be used at R0 or so to snare the target. GW can be "cast" / created up to 10km away...
Detecting big-time "anti-old-school" bias here. NX? Lobi. TOS/TMP Connie? Super-promotion-box. (aka the two hardest ways to get ships) Excelsior & all 3 TNG "big hero" ships? C-Store. Please Equalize...

To rob a line: [quote: Mariemaia Kushrenada] Forum Posting is much like an endless waltz. The three beats of war, peace and revolution continue on forever. However, opinions will change upon the reading of my post.[/quote]

gw has a limited fire arc

ships with poor turn rate will have a big issue using gw effectively ( if it has any effect )

I think GW buffed by full spec/consoled graviton generators should pull at roughly 2x what it does now.

    This.

I have no idea why GW's pull isn't modified by Graviton Generators. As of right now, fully spec'ing into GravGens only increases the radius for a completely insignificant amount.

With the Sing Jump you were comparing to the GW3, how many pips was the Sing Jump?

while SJ users can have their field generators and a free ltcm or cmm slot, and those graviton points in other skill

How does Singularity Drive work on Star Trek. I remember something about it continually generating energy and if you didn't dissipate it, it would build up and bad stuff happens or something.

Wouldn't that be the complete 180 opposite of an alpha strike? Your flying around cloaked and not using much energy, so your systems should actually be working less efficiently.

    You guys are crazy.

Sing Jump doesn't replace GW at all.... GW pulls 3x as hard as sing jump... has a larger AOE... and with doffs will trigger Shockwaves.

Is Sing jump a good skill... of course... its a lot different then GW however.

Honestly When roms use Sing Jump fighting me I am happy... It means they can't go and Quantum Absorb instead.

indeed, but still, gw has only a hold and a damage, SJ will cut a lot more damage since it kinda placates you and reduces your acc, not to talk about a teleport, that for us costs 1 console slot, SJ is still too powefull, gw requires a comm slot, and points in graviton generators, and the hold will still be insignificant, any one can get rid of it

sj is much more complete, and it doesnt cost a skill or a console slot, neither points in graviton generators or doffs to be effective

I can't remember the last time I used Quant Absorb...not sure I've ever used it on Holo. Would have been during early testing during the LoR Beta perhaps.

I never use Overcharge - no energy weapons.
    Warp Shadows are just silly.
Plasma Shockwave is too limited for my tastes.

But Singularity Jump? That's basically the only ability of the five that I use. Even run a Jump Core for the increased Accuracy debuff. I fly around at 132.5% Defense while cloaked, base - I can push that over 200%...dropping a Singularity for the Accuracy debuff - that's going to get me more than Quant's going to give.

    It's not exactly free though.

It costs 40 subsystem power (32 for me, I lose 8 per instead of 10 per). At 5 pips to use SJV - you've lost 400 Stealth. You also lose the +subsystem power you were receiving from the 5 pips.

you have a subsystem maxed, thats the most important, the other is usually for a defensive role, which is compensated by the singularity powers, its not that 40 shield or engine power matters that much, because romulans rotate eptx's and batteries too

GW need 2 doffs. Aftershock and the deflector cooldown(in case you use more deflector abilities it is a good doff to have)

Now. GW clears spam, prevents cloaking and if you pair it with engine power drain it will hold the opponent.

As the game progressed you have to design, plan and test towards certain build paths. You just not add an ability and expect it to do miracles.

As for Singularity jump compared to GW, I would say that the former is used a means of escape.

Personally, that's along the lines of how I use them.

    GW's offense.
    SJ's defense.

I use it for defense when I'm running from something

Other times I use it as supplemental offense when GW is on cooldown or if I need a little extra pull into the middle of the GW. At that point I'm not worried about the sing powers going on cd and I'm trying to finish them off. Kitchen sink mode.

    I use SJ for:

    a second GW
a way of getting out of of tractor beams or webs
    escaping faster
    getting away from siphon drones
(and my favorite) decloaking other ships :)

I love using my Ha'nom as an anti-cloak ship. I can be cloaked, see another cloaked ship, and SJ right on top of them without decloaking..it's freaking awesome :)

It use to, before f2p, then someone QQ, about GW actually pulling u in like a black hole.

Who would of thought a gravity well that actually effect the space around you making it zone denial.

Lol I remember ships fighting so hard to leave or ship on the edge ****'d side ways but moving another. It was surly a seen and a better play environment. Having obstacles you knew not to fly near, when a expert was droping grav wells.

I'm just waiting for a Romulan Sci ship with Cmdr Sci and LtC Eng.

GW 3 + EWP run over your target, with an SJ right as you pass over them to make sure they're all kinds of screwed.

And if you're extra evil, throw some Theta on top of it.
