Seems to me it should be easy enough to have a selector on joining a PvP. One button would be so that a pre-made group could face off against another pre-made group. Another button should be for pick up group that you CANNOT join as a team. This would be handy for people trying to learn thier ships and testing builds.
Nothing is anymore frustrating than to join a PUG only to find your "Team" is vastly underpowered or a bunch of noobs. The worst part is you run into a pre-made and of course they recogonize you as the only decent player so it is a 5-1 slaughter match. Sorta like being in Kerrat with a ton of enemies on the spawn point it is a no win scenario.
I am curious as to thoughts and ideas on this proposal of seperating the elitists from the casual player.
Instead of blaming everything on the premades, lets focus some more on making teams yeah? Opvp is there for a reason, to organize matches against each other.
KEep making those pugmades, and you will learn to cooperate, learn from each other.

What is the fun in hooking up with 4 strangers and you find out they are ALL underequipped or simply don't know how to play and they are speaking in foriegn languages? That happens all too frequently when your fleet and friends are unavailable.

Okay. Maybe instead of making everyone else BETTER than YOU, maybe there is some way we could make YOU WORSE so you won't be singled out as much! Or at least keep you from being re-cogonized. Hell, I hate being cogonized even once. I can't imagine it happening over and over! Maybe if you just tried to cycle engineering team? That could work. Let us know.
Arena is all about teams and team builds. CnH not so much. It's a different sort of duck. You may have better success there even with just one friend or fleetmate as a wingman.
In the meantime I wish you success in lowering your profile as a "go to target" in pvp.
Premades are not the evil part of the game. People like running together for various reasons: they like their teamwork, friends or they have good skill. I run ground premades all the time our thinking is always the same. The strategy changes on the fly depending on the people on the other side.
I like teaming up so I can avoid puggin it when one pug takes 15 deaths in an arena and our healer is strained healing them after being asked to stay back, stay down or just beam.
I know going against premades can be hard and frustrating. Several good fleets out there will let you run with them and come onto their voice server. You should look them up.
We always welcome people if they want to try out ground, oddly enough no one every wants to learn.

You mean I might actually have to interact with these nerds who play Star Trek?
Splitting the queues as such would double the queues - would not prevent synchronized queuing - and - by itself would just generally make things worse.
The simplest solution is...
...to realize that certain folks would rather that 5 players have the opportunity to play together and drive everybody that feels differently from PvP,
...to realize that Cryptic is doing pretty much everything they can to drive folks away from PvP as they expand their casual PvE playerbase,
...to realize that obviously both certain players and Cryptic have joined forces to destroy PvP,
...and just to walk away from PvP in STO.
It may not make you happy, but would you be as unhappy as you are dealing with what certain players and Cryptic are doing otherwise?
I do believe that if you team with more than one or two other people, you should not be allowed to have access to the normal queues. I have no problem with premades, but when you have an elite premade going into PuGs, especially on the FED side where players tend to be more inexperienced, it is neither fun nor fair.
Now, you rarely get a fair fight anyway, but at least in arena I think that if you are teamed with more than one person you should be dumped into a special queue of your own for "teams"
I have nothing against the premades, or channel teams, to be honest you guys have worked and honed your skills, and diserve some respect for that. My issue is more along the lines of premades, or even oPvP teams running the queues to pugstomp. That being said, sometimes it IS difficult for them to find teams to play against... so its either queues or no pvp.
I really don't think there is much chance of a programatic fix. The only solutions I see are
player based (with any realistic expectation that they could be implemented). Gentleman's/Honorable Gamers agreements... code of ethics... whatever you want to term it....
Much like the player driven boot camps, tourneys, leauges... i think it is "up to us".
I know its not fun to get stomped 15-0, and in the instances I got to do the stomping, it wasn't much fun either...
If you see you are seriously outclassing the oposing team... maybe play a man down. Don't spawn camp, back-off and let them regroup.
I'm not advocating anyone throw a match, but make it interesting for everyone.
and for the love of all things holy, please control the trash talk... we really REALLY want PvP to grow, not shrink...

My sentiments exactly they have a easy and elite setting on STFs this should be no different.
The only other way to make it fair is to do away with pre-mades that way you the random player will be teamed with other players not of your choosing. So you might end up against a great team a bad team or somewhere inbetween.

no thanks.
its not my fault you dont have people you can play with.

Here's my idea for evening the odds between the two groups.
Cheers.
