GALACTIC WAR: Ideas for the new Season

Revival of "Defend the Sector Block" Missions

These were good and fun, and the lack of them now is making DSE's pointless. I suggest overhauling and reimplementing them.

New Mission Structure (All missions will now follow this sort of progression):

Defeat 8 Enemy Attack Groups (Fighters, Frigates, Escorts, Battleships)

Defeat the Enemy Flagship Attack Group (Dreadnought++ w/ Escort ships)

Mission Rewards:

Skill Points (comparable to Patrol missions)

Expertise (comparable to Patrol missions)

Choice of:
25 Fleet Marks OR 480 Dilithium Ore

Additional Notes:
- This will also see the introduction of Federation DSE's (for KDF players) in the Eta Eridani and Pi Canis Sector Blocks.

- DSE "Orbs" Will be replaced with an iconic ship from the respective faction, but these ships will not attempt to ram the player. They will simply "wander" a bit in their respective location.

PVP System Overhaul
Including:
- Removal of Que
- Removal of all Fed/KDF-related missions
- Removal of old Warzones

BEAR WITH ME!!!! ALL IS NOT LOST!

Public PvP will now sort of be melded with PvE, similar to the old Warzones (which are now gone) and, funnily enough, DotA. Now, instead of "Arena" and "Scenario"

How will this work?

- Planets in Eta Eridani (and Omega Leonis) that previously launched PvP queues will now actually have to be entered to participate in War Games. Each planet will have a different kind of battle taking place, and both a SPACE and GROUND challenge.

(For example, Otha's ground warzone involving the Borg will be merged with Ker'rat's space warzone and location. To access both the ground and space BORG Warzones, the player will have to acquire the mission (which I will get to in a moment) and fly to the Ker'rat system, where they will have the option of entering the space warzone or beaming down to the ground warzone. Make sense?)

- So the planets will serve as actual gateways for each type of Warzone, but where do you get the missions? From your Faction-specific STARBASE of course!

- The above is why I propose we change the Cursa system into another Starbase/Social Hub for the KDF.

- Several Officers will give you varying missions for ground or space warzones (1 each) similar to the Fleet Action missions you get that grant rewards on top of the FA reward.
- Additionally, Icheb, who used to give you random daily missions at VA, will now give you one daily mission that grants even greater rewards. Here is an example:

* Commander Makza (Borg Salvage Operations: Space and Ground)

* Icheb (Protector of Starfleet (Daily))

You will be able to hail all contacts from sector space to get missions for PvP. You can also transwarp to Eta Eridani (a power granted by Diplomacy/Marauding Doff rank 2) to reach these new warzone planets.

THE FULL PROGRESSION IS: Talk to Commander Makza on K-7 (or equivalent on the new Cursa Starbase), talk to Icheb if you're at VA, fly to Ker'rat, fight in both Space and Ground Warzones, reap the reward of Makza's ground mission, Makza's space mission, and Icheb's daily mission. Got it?

The WARZONES Themselves...

Now you're probably thinking "Oh great, so all that PvP is turning into Warzones now? Just a ploy to make this game full on PvE, this sucks." But it doesn't! Now I wanna talk a little bit more about these warzones...

FIRST OF ALL - There will be more than one type, so instead of just PvPing/Warzoning on the same old map, you have options on the scenario. One will be the Borg Salvage Warzone, but another may be a battle for an unaligned colony in the Otha system! Another can be a Warzone in which Starfleet and the KDF have to battle for control of a fortress(in which the scenario would resemble a CAPTURE AND HOLD PVP MISSION from before)!

Second of All - Things that All Warzones will have in common...

- The First Priority, as sad as you may find it, is not to brutally murder players of the enemy faction. While some scenarios may not even include PvE enemies (such as the capture and hold-type scenario i mentioned before) you will not win by simply killing your opponent - the first goal will be to play the objective (to capture the fortress). Like the Ker'rat Warzone, it will come down to playing the objective (and fighting the PvE side, when there is one.)

- Just because I say you won't WIN by killing enemy players, it doesn't mean you will go UNREWARDED. Killing your enemies will set them back, thus giving you a better opportunity to win the objective. Additionally, in some situations, the winner will be determine by OVERALL TEAM SCORE, which can be affected by kills.

In the Capture and Hold Warzone, score will not be counted, because the winner is obviously who Holds the Fortress.

In the Borg Warzones, score WILL be counted, because completing the map doesn't make the winner obvious. In this case (and other cases involving score) the scoring mechanic will work something like this:

Objective completion: +800 points
Team Death (losing a member of your team): -150 points
Player Kill (rewarded for killing a member of the enemy team): +100 points

So not only are you punished for losing a member of your team, the enemy team is also rewarded, and vice versa.

Rewarding System

Now, in addition to mission completion rewards (which I'll talk about momentarily) both teams get some rewards for completing the challenge match.

Losing Members get an [Outstanding Conduct Box] containing:

360 Dilithium Ore

15,000 Energy Credits

Winning Team Members get a [Valorous Conduct Box] (or an [Honorable Conduct Box] for KDF) containing:

480 Dilithium Ore

45,000 Energy Credits

A Level Appropriate Ground/Space Item (Very Rare quality)

Warzone Assignments

Don't forget you also have these to collect from! Each Standard Assignment will reward:

Skill Points

Expertise

50 Fleet Marks

There might be a cooldown on these.

Icheb's VA Daily Assignment will reward the following for completing 1 ground warzone and 1 space warzone per day:

200 Fleet Marks (More if turned in the during bonus marks event)

1440 Dilithium Ore

There will be a cooldown on this one: 20 hours.

And last, but certainly not least, the Accolades:

FED/KDF| "Captain of the Guard" - Complete every Sector Block Defense Mission
FED/KDF| "Squad Trooper" - Complete 5 Warzone missions
FED/KDF| "Team Captain" - Complete 20 Warzone missions
KDF| "Battlemaster" - Complete 50 Warzone missions
FED| "Valorous" - Complete 50 Warzone missions

UPDATED #1

Private PvP
Private PvP will remain the same. You can challenge the player or create a private que to collect your own friends and have a space or ground private match.

Reputation System

The Reputation system's levelling, to spare toons, will now require less time to complete and will give more reputation points.

Old Reputation:

Project M - 2,000 Reputation/340 Dilithium - time to complete: 20 hrs.
Project m - 800 Reputation/140 Dilithium - time to complete: 20 hrs.

Approximate time to reach completion (if both are completed every day): 36 days

New Reputation:

Project M - 3,500 Reputation/340 Dilithium - time to complete: 16 hrs.
Project m - 1,500 Reputation/140 Dilithium - time to complete: 16 hrs.

Approximate time to reach completion (if both are completed once every day): 20 days

These changes will effectively reduce amount of time and resources to complete a Reputation system by 55%.

So, that's what I have so far. Thoughts? I know its a lot to process. :o

In Ker'rat, there is (or was, I don't know if it's still there since the map's warp in point got screwed up again) a glitch where you can switch factions. Mostly used by feds (like me) to join the Klingon side, hence the term Red Fed.

    That's what it means.

EDIT: I just read through the whole thing. While I think I understand what you're saying, I dont' think the stuff in the current system should be removed. Sometimes I just want to set up a private PvP with my friends. I also really love Kerrat as it is, and I don't want it to get over complicated. Add on all your ideas, sure, just let me keep the simple warzone.
I ask nothing but that you remember me.

unfortunately, the way the story has been progressing, I think the Feds and Klingons are past open conflict.

lol uh I don't know if it would still be there then hehe...

My idea wasn't actually to get rid of private PvP, I guess I didn't make that clear enough in the OP. Private ques will still exist, public ones will just be replaced by the new warzones.

Ker'rat probably will undergo some minor changes. As far as the current PvE and PvP mesh goes, that won't change, and the objective shouldn't either. In fact, the only big change will be the moving access of the Borg ground warzone to Ker'rat in sector space.
