Romulan Just Hit 50 and can't use Fed VA ships

jelly0jelly0 Member Posts: 560 Arc User
I dropped 30,000 zen for federation C-Store ships, mostly Vice Admiral for my 4 Federation characters for ones I liked and some for the consoles.

I just hit Vice Admiral with my Romulan Character woth whom I decided to join starfleet. Why the hell can I not use ships on a Federation character just because its a Romulan race.

This is complete rubbish, I didnt manage to purchase any romulan ships because you geniuses don't allow purchase of ships that are outside of level range. I wanted to unlock ships from the C-Store for romulan specific but wasnt going to be able to hit 50 by end of ship sale and couldn't buy them because I wasnt 50.

Let me use my Federations Vice Admiral ships / equipment on my Vice Admiral (Thats right, EVEN A FEDERATION RANK) Federation faction Romulan character.

Good God.

Try and hit up customer support, see if they will let you trade the purchase for a ship you can use if not give you your money back, which I think probably they won't.

Only alternative is creating a federation character for that ship alone.

LOL not gonna happen, you should have gotten some advice in advance or did some research into romulan use and restrictions on ships. The fault is all on you sorry to say 8(.

The devs decided that Tier 5 ships would be limited to their respective faction. After all, why run a KDF or Starfleet character when you have a ton more ships by rolling a Romulan/Reman character if they are allowed access to Romulan ships and thier allies' ships. Fed and KDF players would be annoyed that Romulans can get their ships, but they can't get Romulan ships.

What i think they should have done
was let us access the T5 ships but
    give them a romulan skin.

this would have made more sense to me.

    1 ship 3 different skins 3 factions.

Don't need to do research, as I stated the purchases were for my 4 main federation characters, I was just annoyed at the fact that Romulans are not their own faction like KDF and Federation you have to choose who to join.

Level 50 Federation Romulan Vice Admiral cannot use Federation Vice Admiral Ships, huh.

It would make sense if they were their own faction but they are not.

There is no fault anywhere, I just think its stupid to not have access to federation ships on a romulan FEDERATION character that has a federation rank.

Research is your friend, not Cryptics fault you did not know better. The reason is quite obvious, if they allowed Romulans to use fed/klink ships, there would be no reason to play a fed or a klink. Crying on the forums is not going to do anything.

BTW, Romulan characters ARE NOT members of Starfleet/KDF, just allied with them.

Cryptic made this very clear in multiple dev blogs before LoR even released.

Just because you fail to make the effort to keep informed about important things, doesn't mean Cryptic is at fault.

Threads about Romulans not having unlimited access to allied ships pops up so much.

I do not understand why anyone is surprised Romulans have restrictions. It makes no sense in any way that Romulans would have unlimited access to allied ships/technology. In the shows allies did not share all their technology/ships. In the real world allies don't share all their technology/ships. It would also be bad for game play if Romulans could use all allied ships their would be little reason to play anything other then Romulan.

Hey dicks wads because he didn't read that doesn't mean you need to become complete dicks to him. If you buy a damn ship on an account you should own it all the way through. Sorry OP what is happening to you is complete BS

Every week these threads pop up.

Good thing you bought them to use on your other main Federation Characters eh? They aren't going to change this any time soon.

Always check the fine print, twice. The Ferengi have lots to learn from PWE.

At this point I think its safe to say it should be all or nothing. Either open T5 ships, or turn them all off.

Since when was the Scimitar part of the Romulan Fleet, afaik it was just in 1 film and got the TRIBBLE kicked out of it.

I also didnt see romulans having free reign on federation starbases and such either in the shows but yet I can goto them now and even beam down to earth and use their recruitment program.

Why make access to any federation ships for that matter. With romulans having their own and all.

Should stay as is. Someone might only play on the Romulan side and spent Zen to buy allied tier 1-4 ships for their consoles and removing them would be bad. Giving Romulans all allied ships would be bad as well making their be little reason to play as anything other then the Romulan side.

I think people are getting the wrong idea, I purchased these ships to use on my 4 Human Federation Characters and being able to use federation ships on a romulan after choosing to ally with the federation all the way up to 50 but not 50 itself was just really bloody annoying.

If the romulan faction was seperate like KDF I could understand but choosing federation and being able to use their ships as you level and even have federation rank at the end you should be able to use the end game ships.

The ONLY Romulan ship that I like is the D'Deridex ship. Others are just plain ugly.

So you want to make the Fed and klinks worthless? Great way to start killing the game, getting rid if the reason to play 2 of the factions

    ???

He was saying either open up T5 KDF and Federation ships to romulans that choose either allegiance or make none of the Federation / KDF Ships at any level available to romulans.

    I think thats fair.

Klingons and Federation are helping the Romulans rebuild and defend themselves so they are sharing some technology but only a fool gives a ally their top of the line ships and technology. That and why play as anything else if Romulans had access to all of their ally ships?

Yes they should just turn them all off, it was a bad idea to ship share anyway. Everyone will lose out on consoles but oh well.

You have touched on the precise reason why it is the way it is. So that people fly Romulan ships at T5 and not the latest Fed (KDF) monstrosity.

Except getting rid of the lower tier ships would get a lot of people angry because they might have bought those ships for the consoles, and allowing rom to use t5 would make actually using a fed or klink character pointless.

Started Romulan and have one of each class (Science / Engineer / Tactical) like I have for my KDF (Klingons = Just Dil Farmers) and Federation Characters.

I am planning on purchasing a D'Deridex in the next ship sale when it pops up and I was interested in the story line.

While I agree it was a bad idea to begin with, getting rid of it now would make a lot of people really angry.

Oh yes lets TRIBBLE of people who play only as the Romulans and have something they spent Zen on no longer be available to them.

    aaawwww, tough.

It wouldnt make Fed or Klink pointless as both factions have loads of different races to choose from for their respective factions.

I hate games that do TRIBBLE half and half, make up your minds either yes or no.

THen do not complain to cryptic or whine here on the forums. You Don't like most of the ships? That is your fault, wanting to be able to use T5 fed ships on a rom just because you do not like the design of most of the other ships is a small excuse to want to kill of 3 of the 3 factions. BTW, Expect to be waiting a really long time for another ship sail.

If someone only plays as a Romulan they could not spend Zen on a tier 5 allied ship because if you try it says Your character is restricted from receiving this item and wont let you buy it.

You can use the alien race to recreate most other races and in the long run none of the really good players would a fed or klink because it limits their ship options. I hate games that make 2 out of 3 of the factions worthless.
