I specifically remember the Romulans opening fire on the Tholians in Vault Ensnared on one patch. The next patch it was back again? Either way I liked it better with the rommies you saved helping you.
Also on a side note when the Tholian flagship enters the Vault map and players get teleported my combat pet does not and has to fly around 100km to get back to helping me.
