something is up with the servers.. it only lags while moving items to ships.. it also some times lags when aquireing drops.. that make them impossible to pick up.. like you click on them and nothing happens.. so you fly over to other drops and they work.. Have you checked your Ram recently?
When you have multiple windows open - as when you have a ship and inventory window open at the same time - it requires a huge amount of extra memory over just running the game. When Ram gets low it creates a lag as it tries to keep switching between the multiple aspects of the game running that are asking for memory. So X amount is running the game, and then it needs Y amount more to have the inventory window open and then Z amount more to have the ship window open - and the ship window uses a lot of Ram. If you Ram is at capacity you get lag when you open multiple windows.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

In my perfect world (pun intended) every gamer will be forced to work network QA for a year. See how the other half lives, y'know?
There are tons of possible explanations for lag and the server is just one of them. Unless everyone else here is posting about the same problem, chances are the problem is on your end/your ISP's end.

I for one welcome our new Google Fiber overlords.
Exactly. Personally i have very fast internet for my area, Caps at about 40/mbs speed with literally a few hours of downtime per year max.
I still get lag sometimes, and that's just the way it is, it's not their fault.
mine lagged right as I was trying to get in my overflow bag for my rommie marks. then it glitched and wouldn't open the window no matter how I tried to 'reset' the UI. had to log back in the next day to get in my overflow bag. litl pist I had to do more rommie stuff to move my rep XP, but no biggie.
Lyndon Brewer: 20% chance to capture enemy ship for 60 seconds on successful use of boarding party.
