Heavy Graviton Beam Sucks?

Am I missing something but this does not seem to work against my targets. Is it bugged?

I've seen it used to great effect by ships which are spec'd into the Graviton Generators skill. The Heavy Beam's knock-back effect is usually much more pronounced than the kinetic damage it deals. Otherwise, if you're looking to deal kinetic damage, just stick with torpedoes and/or the Kinetic Cutting Beam.

I would not suggest flying a build focussed solely around using the Heavy Beam due to its long cooldown. If you don't need the Heavy Beam, then you might want to consider swapping one of the three MACO set pieces for something else (provided you have something more effective to use for your build).
Forget the possibility of PvP, for so much has become pay-to-win, never to be balanced. Forget the promise of exploration and research, for in the grim dark future of Star Trek Online there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting publishers.

It's effectiveness depends on your auxiliary power and graviton generator skill points/consoles. With 100+ aux power and fully skilled out in graviton generator, it's quite effective.

I swapped a mk x purple positron deflector since the stats were better overall. It is a tac bop so I don't run aux beyond minimum. I was interested in the 5 sec weapon disable feature more than kinetic damage. That seems to not work.

I seldom use it, but noticed that against borg npc it only last 1 second...against other npcs, it seems to last 3- 5 seconds. I don't do PvP, so i have no idea of how long the effect last against other players :)

    This.

It is EXTREMELY useful for the floater in NWS saving a dread in waves 8 and 9. That's pretty much its only use, but it's a damn good one.

It has a warm-up period of around 2 seconds before it fires, so make sure you keep your target in the firing arc for those couple of seconds.

I am definitely hitting the target with it. Oh we'll ... I could alway grind the other maco set and get the 25% torpedo damage boost.

3000 omega marks, 100000 dilithium ... Shoot me now. :(

HGB knocks the targets auxilery subsystem offline for a few seconds. Sustained powers which rely on aux will be deactivated by the hit. Not a bad thing if your polarize hull/A.T.Omega is on cool down and your caught in a tractor.

this ability is depending on 3 factors: graviton generator skill for more push back, particle generator for more dmg, and aux power to increase both...also any dmg buff from attack patterns or debuffs will greatly increase the dmg part of this ability.

if you have none of those things...then it truely is worthless. If you have those skills and high aux power levels, you can go for full maco and the set bonus.
i use it on my breen cruiser, with attack pattern beta, and 6 points in both graviton and particle generators. Aux power is also above 100.
it certainly has it's usefullness, but never expect too much.

Look at the bright side. Omega marks are comparatively easy to get and with cash 100,000 is aquirred in a handful of seconds.

Otherwise (like me) 8000 dil a day divided into 100000 is .... ain't nobody got time for dat!

Ah the joys of running 3 toons just to wait out cool downs on each other.

    /facepalm

The MACO beam is working for me. I used it about 50 times in mirror invasion. Handy little thing with all the paralyze in there.
