Reminiscent the good old days.

So I was in in pug estf: statis ground. There were 2 guys with full maco set, so I thought we would breeze through the mission with ease. However, to my surprise... those two haven't done any stf ground.

In the good old days, you couldn't obtain mk XII borg set without doing eSTFs (ground or space.) It was difficult and challenging, but players had to learn how to play estfs correctly. Now, players can get the ground set without ever set foot on the ground.

I think one of the reason there wasn't any quitter back in the old day 'cause everyone must learn how to eSTF. The estf (ground/space) pug hads the same quality players as private atm. Also, a lot ppl would pug for estf grounds.

I wasn't playing when all the timers were implemented. I'm guessing it happened after the introduction of the reputation system.

The good old days.

Easy fix, look for Omega and Maco Type 3 mod.

All my characters have a mix of adapted and type 3 armor. Anyone with this armor has done at least one of each ground eSTF.

Ah, ye goode olden days. Where joining a ground STF confronted you with people who were so 1337 that they only wanted to play the stupid mission and not teach newbs the necessary strategies. After the bad experiences in ground STFs I never even bothered with going into the elite versions. So they most definitely shall not be missed.

Which I find hard to believe since the old "1337" players were a tight bunch that always were open to teach new people to the encounter. There were plenty of open and closed channels that provided help and good mentorship to help new people get to know the STFs. I know since I was one of the first people in STO with a full Honor Guard set when they were still related to the DROPS, not the stupid mark grind.

As OP pointed out, it's utterly ridiculous what Cryptic did, removing the unique drops from elite STFs, anyone with half a mind to grind can get the stuff now. It'd be nice to see a new loot system for the elite STFs (ground especially) that gives access to a full new set of gear with it's own unique visual, at least there'd be a point to doing them next to grinding marks and borg bits to reform into dilithium (which is my case now).

Very much NOT my experience. 1337 players are very demanding prejudiced and annoying in my experience and all they do is complain about someone not knowing about how things are done. They also tend to argue amongst themselves so as a result less time is spent actually running the dungeon and each and every one of them are saying the same things about the next, they're all repeating the mantra "Gosh why do I have to play with newbs" imagine 4 1337 players saying that about each other the entire time in these things. Not fun in the slightest.

Well to be fair, I was one of the old guard that did over 1000 stf's in the old days, yet never got a complete MK12 set despite how many I did.
The old drop system was wildly unfair, and having a full set was never any relation to the hard work you put into doing the stf's, it was down to pure luck.
The new system is not perfect I know, but neither was the drop system....

Same here, however, why couldn't they just fix the drop rate, and used the Omega Rep as a tool to help you succeed in getting the rare drops, rather than having players, who literally have the highest endgame gear without really doing endgame content. Especially, now you can get farm birds to get the marks without ever stepping into an STF.

It is better this way as ground sould only be used for roles playing and not missions and ground is not very good anyway but space is more good for instance my character is a fire safety expert who also flies the ds9 across space and time so being forced to do ground missions is vary much out of character for him thanks for listening

what they should do is make it so you have to earn an accolade in normal stfs before you can move on to elite ones. it can either be complete x amount, or complete in a certain time.. or both.

i like how you can get the gear now, tho its a tad expensive..

Missing one ESTF optional for that set. Pretty annoying. Never found a PUG capable of doing it right.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
