Rivera stated that because of the success of the expansion and the revamp of the Klingon faction's tutorial, the team is already looking at overhauling the tutorial for the Federation and might also be looking at implementing a "Tovan Khev"-style bridge officer for the Federation faction. While he wasn't specific, he told me Cryptic is looking at ways to have a player's bridge officers have "more of a history" with the player than they do now.

I'm a bit on the edge on that one. While I really love the rom storyline and think it was interesting to have a more interactive crew up it is quite restrictive to hang on them. In the end they are the every romulans boffs. But since they came with LoR it kind of worked there.
But now creating similar storylines for the existing fractions? While I really would love to see the storys I would prefer to see my established crews in action.
So... Cryptic wants to have a players bridge officers more of a history? So do I; I already have the boffs now add a story to THEM instead of throwing new NPCs at me that I do not know and also have no space for on my boff list.

I do not think I'm the only one who invested a lot of time to have the "perfect" setup with the bridge crew and would prefer some
screen time for those.
How to do it? I'm not a programmer, but I think something could be worked out with a connection to the department head system (if fixed).

I would like to have a simple "tailor" system where you can select maybe three or four different histories and base personalities from the tailor as you customize your bridge officers. Much like you can choose a stance for your officers, you can choose how they would most likely respond and what they will say in a situation. These choices will open up optional dialogue or additional snippets of personality needed to fill out a character. These additions will be places around the base text that describes the mission.
If Cryptic wanted to be REALLY creative, these tailor personality choices might affect how an AI Boff might react to certain situations changing the way the game works depending on who you bring along. Such as assigning a Chief Medical Officer would mean she would focus more on allies than enemies. Or having a Creative Engineering officer means you have a small chance of two boff powers in space having a combined boosted effect.
For those players it does not matter anyway regardless of how it is done.
Sounds awesome
