    I like the idea to play a Xindi-Aquatic or a Xindi-Insectoid

Would be cool to get some playable Xindi and to get them some more visibility generally for all the Xindi species. We don't see enough non-humanoids generally in Star Trek, but STO is the perfect platform to get the likes of Xindi-Aquantic in an NPC capacity like Tholians.

I don't think there is anything wrong in giving the Feds a few more playable species without giving the others any. Klingons and Romulans have always been centred on a single species but the Federation has been about diversity. Would be great to just have a few more added each season - even if it is just in a Boff and NPC capacity.

We're talking playable huh? Well I'd like to see the introduction of a Deltan (somewhat an equivalent of an Orion, just less devious). I'm honestly not sure whether an Xindi Aquatic could be playable (with kits and all). If we ever got the Xindi, they'd probably be NPC like the Tholian are (and should forever be). I doubt very much the Xindi would be part of the Federation as early as the 25th Century.

I'd like other races filled in first, though it's only the Deltans that I can think of. Maybe the Talarian for the Klingon too.
    Cardassian
    +7.5% All Damage
+5% Starship Energy weapon training Stat (if stat=100, +5 to stat)
I would support Cardassian provided they were limited to Federation and Romulan factions. I don't personally care to believe the hatred between the Cardassians and Klingons has calmed to the point that they'd crew a ship together just yet.

There is a reason why we don't have more non humanoid in the game, and on the show (they appear sometimes, but are not part of the crew, only Odo was, but his "default" appearance was humanoid). They are a nightmare. In game, they don't have access to the same costumes, they behave differently, they are a lot of trouble for game balance and hitbox, not to mention emotes. Also, I'm not sure how CBS would react.
And ground mission with an aquatic would simply be impossible. You can't really have a whale walking and fighting on ground like there is nothing wrong. That's about half the game.
A non humanoid specie mean you have to redo all the costumes, all the emotes, make sure it's balanced in both pve and pvp. That's a lot of work, and it's added to the usual work of creating it.

About gamma quadrant species, I don't see why they'd cross half the galaxy to join a faction they know little about. Especially when they have enough to handle at home (Ocampa loosing their paradise world, talaxian being occupied, ...). Not to mention the Ocampa would have to spend half their lifespan in the Academy (imagine spending half your life in school). Except for the offworld Ocampa, but they were quite evil, and their caretaker was not really a Federation's friend. Not to mention they are a few hundreds.

I think there is enough alpha quadrant species to deal with. Cardassians are part of the Federation protectorate, they could easily be included to Starfleet. Hirogen/Suliban could also become playable.

I can see the problems with Ocampans, However, its definitely a possibility for gamma Quadrant species to join the federation, Maybe make then a "Lockbox Race" where you have to find them in a lockbox instead of just Zen Store.

Talaxians should be no problem. Neilix stayed in the delta quadrant just inside Starfleet communications range in a Talaxian Settlement. So its reasonable some talaxians may want to venture tward the federation.

Its also reasonable there are more Sungtype Androids datas been around for a while now, im sure someone figured out how his positronic brain works.

You're assuming you'd be fighting it or something. I'm talking about featuring, to see and talk to in some limited capacity on certain planets or ships. Look at the Horta, a non-humanoid race (which in non-canon written works, sit on the Federation Council and acts like anyone else) they managed to get that into STO in a fashion. It doesn't mean the non-humanoid race would have to penetrate far into the game or have the same depth with emotions et al as other species.

    - Aggressive
    - Accurate
    - Natural Immunities
    - Peak Health
    - Soldier
    - Resilient
    - Physical Strength
    - Elusive

4x out of those, Aggressive for sure.

Good idea in theory. I could argue in favor of one position or another regarding any individual race's inclusion or implementation, but the general idea is to offer more races with a variety of abilities and bonuses/penalties.

I would like to point out that there are several issues overlooked, and one glaring example of this is weaknesses. All of your bonuses have to be offset by something.

For example: the Holographic Life Form would need a database and holoemitter of some kind, (and not a copy of The Doctor's, because that comes from several centuries in the future.) Perhaps something like what was seen when The Doctor's holonovel was stolen by an Earth-based publisher and the Voyager crew had to wear it to participate in the holonovel. The HLF would be immune to damage, but the Holoemtitter Backpack would not be, and would sustain damage that cannot be healed by medical procedures. Instead Quick-Fix would restore Hit Points or reactivate a damaged and inoperative Holoemitter Backpack.

So, random shots at center of mass would impact the HEBP 30% of the time they would otherwise damage a biological life form, but the HEBP would also have only 30% of the hit points of a biological life form. With a ship-based data core a dead HLF could 'respawn' by beaming in another HEBP in the case of total party kill or a death in a situation with no engineer handy to repair the unit.

While I don't see this particular idea being implemented, I offer it as an example of adding depth to the proposals by countering strengths standard characters lack with vulnerabilities specific to the new race. For example, Borg are tough but slow.

I actually do really like the idea of weakness', maybe granting a little bit bigger buffs, but make the weakness' something that would be easy to come across.

As it stands my character is a Vulcan Augment (check the literary challenges to know more), so i've got him set up to do a considerably nice amount of damage, specifically with melee. Depending on the enemies i'm doing more damage with my bare hands than some do with their weapons.

I agree though that if they did add the Photonic lifeform, that they would need to add a different visual for the holo emitter since the tech isn't as advanced. Right now the Photonic Boff will turn into the Voyager emitter.

As for the Android characters, the main issue is that they don't want androids as advanced as Soong's, which is why we have the Boffs looking the way they do, but it doesn't mean that we wouldn't be able to have them in general, just that they wouldn't be as advanced which would have to be reflected in both looks and race traits.
