My first summer event and observations.

First let me start by saying that I am only trying for constructive criticism here, please do not turn this into a flame war or shouts of noob.

1st. There really needs to be a mail station in the resort. It you are going to have an exchange terminal, there really should be one. Also, if like me you are running multiple characters thru the event, it would make moving favors from one char. to another a lot easier than leaving and having to warp back time and again. (really annoying with 4 chars.)

2nd. There seems to be an issue when leaving planet and coming back with the floaters disappearing until you re-make or change part of your costume. This has happened on every char. and with or without off duty clothes.

3rd. I know not everyone will agree with this part but I personally feel that the dance contest is too long for the amount of favors you earn as compared to the hunt. I.E. 4 1/4 minutes for up to 60 favors in the hunt to 10 minutes for 35 favors. and that's 10 minutes if you hit every dance. I know many get upset for not knowing that they can dock the emote menu and make life a lot easier.

4th. Change up the dance music a little! I have grown to hate the music in just a few days! Unfortunately for me, it is now just a very annoying part of the event.

5th. I know you have heard this from many others, but here is my take on the costume choices available as rewards. If you don't want to make the swimwear a costume choice or listen to the players complain about it, then take them off the vacationers and dress them in the same ugly outfits you want us to buy.

6th. Get some decent color choices for off duty clothes. The drab boring color pallet has ALWAYS been a turn off for me in this game. The human eye can distinguish an infinite color pallet within the spectrum and any 32 bit computer can display 16 million shades. STO only seems to know a few drab shades of colors. Even in the shows and movies the colors were at least bright. Off duty clothes especially should have a huge color selection. That's why they are called off duty.

7th. I find it hilarious that the vacationers can do every dance move, but the instructor and the 4 platform dancers cannot.

8th. It seems only those who have the resources to buy the purple quality science officers have any chance of getting a tufted bird mutation. I really don't think that's exactly fair to the low levels trying like mad to get one. I've heard many a complaint on the difficulty of getting a tufted bird. Yes, before anyone flames me, I know that it's supposed to be hard, or they wouldn't be purple quality. What I am saying is that it should be a LEVEL playing field for everyone in an event like this. Everyone should have the same chance so that a level 10 can feel just as proud for getting one as a level 50. I am tired already of those who post about the multiple rare birds they have when many like myself would be happy for one and I do have a level 50 but still can't seem to crit one.

9th. This last one is a personal gripe that I cannot stand! Make favors unsellable! Tradeable among your own characters yes, sellable to other no! If a player is to damn lazy to earn them, then too bad! I saw the same thing in the winter event. You are playing a game and that is part of it. That's why it's called a SPECIAL EVENT. If you were playing a console game that required you to earn them, you would have no choice. I was very pissed off watching these people throw huge sums of money for favors and BANG! day 1 they are the hottest damn thing around flashing everyone their hot fancy floaters! and that's all they seemed to want.

I'm not sorry if that last point angers anyone, or hurts the feelings of those who threw money for favors. Before anyone claims I am just bitter that I couldn't afford to do it myself and that's why I'm angry, far from the truth. Nor am I an opportunist ready to take advantage of some sucker or young kid playing the game just to steal their money. The selling of favors is a scam.

Learn to earn your rewards. It's not a reward if you buy it!

    1) The lack of a mail terminal feels like an oversight. Hopefully they'll add one.

    3) They increased the reward for the Hunt, the dance competition could use a similar boost.

    6) The costumes feel unfinished, but that's normal and expected for costumes in STO.

That's all the response I've got, really. No criticism of the event itself, it's all fun and the environment is wonderful.

    One request of my own:

    1) Keep the Lolnut Pearl reward on a 20-hour timer, but make the Flying High obstacle course repeatable much more often. It's so much fun I'd do it for no reward. Add in more courses, including maybe a PvP floater race, which would just be stupidly fun.

I don't see what's wrong with selling favors. It follows STOs general free-to-play model. You can either grind for dilithium yourself, or buy it from others with Zen. Some have the time, and not the money/resources. Others have the money/resources, but not the time. It's not really any different here with the favors. You can grind the favors yourself if you have the time, or buy them from someone else if you have the EC.

As for the rare birds, it's luck more than anything else. Sure, you can increase your chances with good quality doffs, but it still boils down to the random number generator. I am 2 for 2 on the tufted bird mutation with using 2 green doffs.
