Precursor:
This is the only thread I will be making for this tournament. Use it for everything related to this tourney, including signing up, rules discussion, strategy discussion on how to beat the "king," etc...

Rules and Format:

1. There are no restrictions regarding equipment, ships, captain careers, pets, consoles, weapons, bridge officer powers, duty officers, bridge officers, consumables, or special abilities.

2. If the top of the map is reached, a declaration of "top" should be made in zone chat by player(s) that get the top-of-map pop-up message. At this point, both sides should cease fire, fly away from each other, and put pets in recall mode. You are then to either fly down to the middle of the map or do a quick relog, which will respawn you at the gate. Once both sides are back in the middle, a declaration of "game on" by any player will be made in zone chat and the fighting will resume. If a team refuses to cease fire within 2 minutes after the declaration of "top" has been announced and it is caught on video, they will forfeit the match.

3. If the game goes over the 1 hour mark, whoever has the most kills wins the match. If it is tied at the 1 hour mark, the team to score the next kill wins. A declaration of "1 hour" should be made in zone chat which will either end the match or indicate that the next kill wins if tied. However, if anyone on either side refutes that 1 hour has been reached, then you must continue fighting until everyone agrees that they have reached 1 hour.

4. A team captain will be selected at the time of sign-up whose responsibility is to schedule the match with the other team's captain. The team captain must give his @handle at the time of sign up. You have a total of 2 full weeks to play your KoTH match. If the game has not been played in 2 weeks time, the challenger team forfeits the match. If this happens again with the same team as "king" then they will forfeit the match and the challenger will be placed as the new "king." So at any time, if a team does not get their match played 2 times in a row, they will forfeit the match even if they are "king." If the first match is not played within 2 weeks, both teams will forfeit. The 2 week timer starts the same day that the previous match is finished on.

5. Whichever team wins the match will become (or stay) "king" and face the next challenger.

6. Team members are not required to be in the same fleet. However, if a team wins a match, they are required to have at least 2 of the same players play in the next match. In other words, you may have 3 substitutions per match.

7. The Team Captain will remain the same for the winning team ("king") unless a post is made by someone that played in the previous match on the "king" team and another @handle is provided to take over the captain/scheduling responsibilities.

8. You may play on more than one team.

9. Challenges will be arranged in the order in which the teams sign up, which you will do in this thread.

10. Teams are required to select a name, which can be your fleet name or something else.

11. If a team is beaten, that team is free to sign up again.

12. The winning team must take a screenshot of the score and post it in this thread. If this is not done and the other team refutes that they have lost, both teams will forfeit the match.

13. Rules are subject to change, and any change made in the rules will be edited in this post in red.

Suggestions:

-Don't take 2 weeks to play your match. I consider this to be a very long time to get a single match played, but I realize it can be difficult to get everyone on at the same time, which is why I want to allow each match to have 2 weekends that it can be played on, which is usually when more people are able to get online at the same time. It would be great if every match took less than a week. This is also why I allow 3 substitutions per match. If you can't get certain players that you want on your team, then pick up some temporary (or permanent) subs. It's better to play the match with a non-optimal team than it is to forfeit.

-Video capture the match and post it in this thread.

-The losing team should post in this thread about how they lost, what the team that beat them was running, and any other suggestions they may have for future challengers of the "king." The goal is to beat the "king" no matter what they're running.

-Feel free to suggest new rules or rule changes, and I may or may not add/change them.

    Might turn off...

    A) Premades that do not use certain gear, knowing the other team might.
    B) Premades that do use certain gear, knowing the other team might as well.
    C) Pugmades that do not use certain gear, knowing the other team might.
    D) Pugmades that do use certain gear, knowing the other team might as well.

    It's only fear for B & D. It's just not worth it, not fun, etc for A & C.

I don't use certain gear, but that doesn't mean I'm going to refuse a match against someone else with it. If someone is winning using certain builds/gear/tactics, I encourage others to try to counter it instead of whining about it. Sure, you can whine too since that's the only way we can get anything changed, but I just think people should try to come up with counters in the meantime. This is the tournament to prove that certain strategies that people deem as OP are in fact counterable.

Selection (A) should be the most interested in this tourney because they can prove that their skill, teamwork, and planning can counter a "king" that may be using unsavory tactics. And although you are welcome to come with a pugmade, I fear it may not be worth it if you haven't played with the people on your team at least a few times. But who knows, maybe you can get the pugmade dream team and roll all the premades (if any join :/ )
