your day looked about like mine! hitting donatra with the thaloron was fun and all the other stf targets. hitting all them tac buffs and a aux batt did the trick, better spec for batteries so they last longer then 12 seconds though!
it was pretty fun in pvp, like flying my lol 2 AtB negvar, only with the coolest cloaking toys and quite a bit more firepower. i also was able to use the thaloron in battle! a 3v3 fight at a C&H point was going on, and they didn't notice me approach. 2 of them got at least most of their shields gone, and 1 just about died, the mop up was quick at that point.
oh, and when this thing dies, the huge thaloron cloud it leaves is pretty cool too.

Oooohh....I never did try a face to face with Donatra. You sir, are genius. Today after work!
Let's ask the obvious RP question: What's the official explanation for the Federation allying with thalaron weapon users?
There is a simple solution, play KDF. Join us, we have Gagh!
Ok that aside, there has been quite some time between nemesis and now. Also the federation is not always that good. TNG tries to paint that utopic picture of mankind but in TOS they were a bit more aggressive I would say. There is also DS9 which is generally a bit darker and shows what humans are capable off when backed into a corner.
Section 31 was ready to commit genocide and while that was not really federation sanctioned, they refused to help the founders when they found out. In the end the federation was ok with killing them all, because they were loosing the war.
Even Sisko was ready to do some ugly things to get the romulans into the war.
By now the federation had a war with the klingons, has trouble with the true way, the undine are infiltrating everyone, a borg fleet is on the front door and the iconians are out there.
Starfleet has many enemies and few allies. At this point I think they will gladly accept the romulans and just tell them: I am so not ok with your Thalaron but since you have it, point it at the borg please.
Or if you like you can just go with the rogue admiral that covers everything up. Would not be the first one to commit illegal things for the greater good.
How is the turn mode, including the maneuvering thrusters thing, and the fact that you can be cloaked a lot?
And I guess you cant turn when you power up the thalaron whammy?

The cloud left behind after it's destruction. Can it be buffed or anything? I blew a few up yesterday and was left traveling THOUGH the cloud a couple of times. And it "Missed" me every time lol.
How does something I'm flying though not hit me?

Section 31 infiltration at the highest levels. They will do anything to ensure the survival of the Federation, including killing everybody - including members of the Federation. :P
There's good thalaron and evil thalaron. We call ours 'Freedom Thalaron', so it is ok.

Yeah, the ship is a lot of fun. I like the Science version so I can have 4 Particle Gen consoles to help boost up that little Thalaron blast quite a bit. I think mine at 50 aux goes up to about 42k on my Sci. I'd imagine much higher on a tac.
And I did think about the Thalaron weapon from a RP standpoint and was kinda surprised that Cryptic did that. But eh, what ever. They got the green light from CBS so what ever.
You think that your beta test was bad?

I've been able to push the damage up to about 98k with a total alpha running and 125 aux with about 125 in particle gens or so. And that 98k hit became a 199k non-crit hit on my target which was majorly debuffed (3 FOMMs and a Sensor Scan)
Could probably push it even higher. But I'd need more help for that, and also better gear (I only just got my Reman to 50 yesterday)
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.
There are tons - and tons of players(PvE?) complaining that the resists are bugged - the shields are bugged - the hull is bugged - they are melting from stuff looking at them.
Anyone here run some test and see if this is just - my super weapon is not super - or is there some merit to the claims??

You spent time popping them in Ker'rat, no? It looked no different to me than any other ship...those without a clue popped before you could finish unloading...those with a clue did not.
Hey, doesn't mean that there might not be something wrong with particular combinations of gear with the ship...this is Cryptic...but all the same, the vast majority of people do not know how to build a ship or properly use the build they copied.

He's right in this case. Maybe he was popping me last night, who knows. I was flying in Ker'rat for awhile (had fun too), then once I had my fill, went to test the Thalaron damage with some help.
Either way, I think that the main issue with the Scimitar is the 'shields while cloaked' console. It appears to be working for some things, and not for other.
Things it appears to usually work with:
Being fired at with weapons
The Secondary Shields console
(That's all I can think off the top of my head )
Things it appears to not be working with:
Tac Team
Heals of any kind
Shield regen
Warp core breaches (and other kinetic explosions like mines)
(That is also all I can think of)
So basically it seems that it's ok in terms of getting shot at, but the game is still treating it in many ways like you do not actually have shields up despite having that console equipped. While you might have your shields up, the game thinks you don't, and thus calculates it so that some of this damage is going right to hull when it shouldn't.
That said, everything seems to work fine when out of cloak, TT, heals, etc.
As for the resists, I think too many folks are dropping all the consoles in engy slots, and/or they aren't specced into the two armor skills. When I was getting actually properly hit, to both shields and hull (as in, getting shot at while uncloaked), nothing seemed out of whack for me. Could be mistaken of course, but nothing felt wrong there.

Well i was there for the first few hours after launch - and then between 2-4am EST - and was popping just as may scimmies then - if not more - as there were more at that time.
Eventually i just got bored and left. Problem is right now i am using me Fed Reman T'Varo as my KDF sister Reman T'varo - dupilcate build - she is not even at T2 rep - so she's running behind.
I just did 3 Fed/rommie toons(tac/sci/eng) first because it was easier with getting missions - then I started a new Klingon male toon - from scratch to get to do all the new KDF content - then finally this Reman KDF which i am working up the rep right now - it will be a month before she can put out the dmg that my Fed Rommie can with the same build.
I suppose I could pull out my Fleet B'rel with my KDF joined trill - but It just seems like a step down sadly.

I can confirm there is something fishy with the Romulan hull, shield and resist. The difference is subtle in PvP but in elite PvE such as the Crystalline Catastrophe Elite which I play regularly, I noticed a huge difference between when I fly my Fleet Dhelan and when I fly the Scimitar.
Did two CE (Elite) today in the Scim, in both cases, the CE barely scratches my hull and my shields are mostly intact. I barely had to heal myself. Note, I was quite apprehensive going in as a Scim because of the slower speed and turn rate, which may make the ship easy target for Large Fragments. Well, it turns out not to be the case at all. When I am in the Fleet Dhelan, which has comparable shield capacity : 1.045 vs 1.10, I always scramble to keep my shields up and my hull, always struggle to stay afloat. To further prove this isn't just some hunch, I usually finish 1st at CE (Elite) about 60-70% of the time and about 20% of time, 2nd place and maybe 10% of time 3rd palce. Never finish outside of top 3. In my Scim, tried it twice now, the fight went so much safer and secure yet I finish 3rd twice. The culpit is likely because I don't have to heal much at all.
In addition, I did many PvP today, 4 X times Arena and 1 X C&H - didn't die even once, totally smashed all my opponents. One of the PvP was a Premade, Sol Vanguard, didn't matter, still beat them running. Many tried to BO me, either they miss or when they hit, barely scratch my shields. Certainly never close being one-shot by BO alpha. But when in the Dhelan, which has higher Defense value by +10, the BO don't miss that often and when hit, no way the shield still stands even if the ship may survive.
I am certainly noticing a difference. Whatever they did, the non-Scim Romulan ships seem to be bugged somehow. The Scim seems to be fine but if this comparison in any indication, this is worth a closer look.
