Wondering what people recommend, The long range science retrofit, the D'kyr, or the scimitar bundle.
I have not spent the money yet so if i end up getting on of the science will vessels it would save money and i love science ships on the other hand, it is the scimitar bundle.
I have a Fed science officer and a Rom engineer.
thanks for any help, it is appreciated.
BTW, only reason it is d'kyr, OR long range, is because I would probably only end up using one or the other and at least with the three pack i would use all three for three diff types of captains.

Have you considered the Vesta 3-pack? It's a Science ship with all three build types & consoles, and a fleetmate who owns it claims it's the best. Plus, apparently there's a sale atm, but doesn't apply to the scimitar.

i was just about to say i am open to suggestions for any of the ships and that I have a KDF engi as well.
Some of the older ships are not as good anymore, due to power creep. I mean just look at the D'kyr, the BOFF seating is from when science was way more powerful, and isnt really a great setup now. And it has a relatively low turn-rate. All the old ships are like this.

Depends what you tend to do with it. The older ships are still useable. If you PVE solo like myself. I use the older ships all the time and don't have problems holding up. However if you go PVP or PVE STFs. Then you might have problems? I don't do them so I can't tell how they would do.
Telling what you plan to do will help as well.

The Vesta was insulting as a Science Ship, it pretty much makes every science vessel in the game obsolete in one fell swoop. Its sad.
So you think the vesta is a good choice then?
If it matters, I mostly do solo PVE and Rarely PVP. I do love the design of the D'kyr and Intrepid designs, though the vesta looks cool as well. If it affects anything I generally prefer the In Between science ships. the ones faster than the cruisers but more durable then escorts

No, I personally would recommend the Intrepid or Nebula, they may not be as OP but they are good ships in their own right and can be strong still if done right.

I would say the vesta 3 pack if you can get it. I have it and like it, that said I also have the Wells Time Ship, so the vesta doesnt get flown much anymore.

is the vesta really that much better than the D'Kyr or intrepid?
I have to wholeheartedly recommend the Vesta. Its an amazing ship, and puts every other science vessel out there to shame. I didn't bother getting the three pack, but that's just me. Get it. You won't regret it.

well with so many people recommending it, i guess i will get the three pack at one point today or tomorrow. which one is best for a science officer who wants to use a shield stripper or at least a somewhat offensive build and what layout should i use

I went with the tactical variant. It made the most sense for me because of the tac console slots. The QFFC console is also really nice. It's not buffed by phaser consoles, as far as I recall, but it does a pretty hefty amount of damage and is really nice in an emergency situation. Whatever you do, I'd requisition three times, pulling the aux cannons off each time. They're not unique, so you can slot three of them. Since they run of aux power, you can put minimal power to weapons, and not lose out too much, which is really nice. I can't really comment on the shield stripping, because I didn't do too much of that. IMO that particular build isn't worth it, since shields tend to drop faster than would be noticeable with that build. I went with a GW3/ES2/HE2/TSS1. That setup gave me a lot of suitability and flexibility. There are a lot of good builds on the forums. One to check out would be the 10k Vesta build, here: http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=515391
I didn't follow it exactly, because I went with aux cannons, but its a good starting point. Hope this helps.
I used to fly an Intrepid on my Sci. Picked up the Vesta and never looked back. I can't ever see myself going back to the Intrepid. I use the tac version and it's great.

I'd look at going with the Omega 2 piece then, for the Tet Glider passive. It scales with your flow caps, so I'd pair it up with a plasmonic leech console, and possibly energy siphon. I tend to go for general power drain on my sci ships versus specific system drain, but those three things should give you a decent start. The Nukara....T2 reward that gives a passive DEM would help with getting some damage through shields, as well as an embassy console or two.

The vesta does look awesome though so maybe
There"s A Sale Of Vesta?!
any recommendations then?
yeah, all non-scimitar bundles and a bunch of the older ships are 15% off

Romulan:
Valdore
Dhlan-refit
T"varo-refit
Mogai refit
some other lower tier
Fed/KDF
Excel and excel refit
defiant refit
Oddy 3 pack
Nebula and nebula refit
MVAM
Both intrepids
B'rel
most lower level KDF
Oh heck I have most ships
what to get?
I don't have the Vesta pack - not intersted in Kumari - what about the Sov refit?

EDIT: Nevermind got it working
Also, anyway to get the science variant of the vesta to work, which I am pretty sure is the surveillance explorer.
