A little more borg a little less liberation

For me personally i'm a fan of the Borg, i really like that in game i can play as a liberated borg, with an assimilated battle cruiser, with borg sets. But i think that we should have the options to be a little less liberated, especially since the lore says that the newer borg are a lot more difficult to liberate since they're so far gone. I would love for this to actually reflect in game somehow and have a few suggestions on just how to do it.

1) full body skin

The infected skin looks awesome... on your head... and thats it. The skin ends very weirdly at the neck, the hands have NEVER shown any change, there is no skin color option that matches it, even in the alien generator (my main is Vulcan with the infected skin), and with all the open uniform options it looks terrible, unfinished, and frankly reflects badly on cryptic to have such a glaring visual asset issue. Please make the custom skins full body, or selectable under body options like under the head.

2) MOAR BORG PARTS!!!

Don't get me wrong, the head options look nice (although i don't like the single eye peice, it just looks funny to me) but what about the other options? Why not have more hand options? or custom body options that are exposed on open uniforms? Why does the 7 of 9 arm implant vanish at the wrist? It goes up the fore arm, we've seen it in the show, and it would be nice if it did it in game as well as having other options to reflect as such.

3) Functional Borg Arms.

Sure we have the weaponized borg arms, which is horribly morbid in it's own way, you know, to be carrying around a severed arm and using it to kill people, but i'm talking something more than that. And considerably less Macabre. Give us the borg arm as our arm, let us choose a few options and set it as our arm, left or right. What this would do is work as an asset replacement. You could still equip what ever gun you wanted, but instead of working like normal, you would be shooting straight from the armature(single pistol animation). When using emotes this would take place as well for things like tricorder scans and such as well.

4) Full assimilation options.

I know i'm not the only person who has at least one costume option dedicated to having the character look as full on borg as possible. It would be nice to get more options to show this, allowing us to do this would be awesome.

5) The Borg Aren't Racist

So we shouldn't be forced to be either. Liberated Borg should unlock as options under character creation, not as Faction specific races. If I want to make a liberated vulcan, why can't Betazoids be assimilated? or Bajorans? There's nothing to the Liberated borg right now that can't just be an option for any and all playable species aside from the Gorn, Catians, and maybe ferengi, and that's only because of their head shapes not being compatible with the Borg head pieces. Aside from that there is no real reason to limit us to Human, Klingon, or romulan. This step alone would give a great amount of additional value to the lifetime membership as well as be a great time to introduce the re-classification token allowing us to rechoose our species without being forced to remake the character.

I think LiBorgs should have more exclusive options since they're lifer.
They should have exclusive devices or special devices slots for Borg 'implants'/
They'll have different buff or abilities for that character to use. For example, they can add an EV implant for space, Hazard implant for Nukara, physical augment implant for increase melee, leg booster implants for higher jump, leg stabilizer implants for knock down resist and reduced fall damage, and a lot more varieties.
For balance sake in PvP, some can be disabled as default or have it so certain Critical damage will disable or jam an implant. The more implants you have, the higher the risk of negative effects that reaches beyond implants stats such as regular movement speed, healing speed, and regular damage resist. It would be a gamble.

good points made here, but the bottom line is that lib borgs affect a small percentage of the player populace ( though it is a larger group then joined trills), and as such probably won't see any resources spent on it.

points 1 and 5 hit home for me however. All of my lib bogs are from the mirror universe, and as such dress with less - the skin ending at the neckline does throw off the look a bit - however the detail is so small for it anyway that other players don't even notice you have it most of the time.

with point 5, I would much rather had my orion slave girl be my klink side lib borg then a klingon. The klink race has so few options in the way of hair, uniform, and so on that every lib klink looks the same no matter what you do. - and no klink side mirror universe costumes? I spent well earned zen stipends to get the mirror uniform options for my feddies, and not even a special sash for klink - - -it's like the borg have a klink factory producing the same model over and over.

it is kinda a joke that the 7 of 9 piece is the only non head borg implant option, and that it doesn't even fit the whole forearm - but it also bugs me that I can't change the color of the laser that shoot's out of my eyeball - NPC borg have green lasers, and on some of the other pieces we have the ability to change the color of the energy on the piece this seems like it could be done with just a few lines of code - - - again however, so few people have borg options at all that it isn't worth their time to create more.

here are pic's of my three bog, I am planning on doing a borg reman once I have that race unlocked as well. as you can see I was able to come up with pretty unique looks for my feddie and rommie (who is klink allied) - but couldn't realy do anything with the klingon.

It kills me that Cryptic has such great ideas sometimes but does so little to actually put them ingame. this is kind of evidenced by pretty much all three of their live games right now. Liberated borg is a huge draw for the Lifetime subscription, especially now that there is so little difference between gold and silver that isn't better off being bought from the C-store. To be honest, its kind of a joke to buy the LTS since F2P launched. An idea like this would make it a much better deal as well as make it easier later on to introduce a borg oriented faction later on. Just look at how much they had to do to bring romulans in as a playable species (they're not a faction, i'm sorry). If the Liberated borg were on the same level but LTS only, there would be so many people dropping the money for lts it's not even funny.

I agree with everything in this thread! :)

Especially point 5 though. There really is no reason why you couldn't just attach the current borg parts to ANY 'standard' race and leave it at that. Plus i'm sure that i've heard before that gorn borg parts are already in the game somewhere. (something to do with the ground borg's assimilation?)

I tried creating a Reman today just to see the options, and i seriously just backed out and turned the game off, it was that bad. From the very first screen the skin was a glaring issue since it's head only, and even then the default Veiny hand skin also visibly ends at the wrist which is also terrible looking. There were a lot more issues and i wrote a thread on the forums about it, but it really made me think of how the liberated borg are done, and to be honest i would be ashamed of my company if they let things like this happen in the game.

Its ridiculous that things are in such a terrible state that they refuse to finish basic art assets like the custom skins. None of them are fully body except Caitians and trill, even the basic human skins are head only. Its really saying a lot about what's not happening with this game, especially when people are putting a lot of great ideas on the forums that wouldn't really require a lot of extra work from the dev side.
