Who is heading to Ker'rat to Blow up the Scimitar after release??

newromulan1newromulan1 Member Posts: 2,229
Almost without fail after each new ship comes out(almost all Fed for the last bit) new owners rush off with their new toy to see if it's powerful.

Who will met them in their existing ships in Ker'rat??

I was blowing up Bugships 1 vs 1 in my fleet Dhelan 2 days after launch. I will do the same in this Scimitar.

I just can't wait till the Scimmies use thelaron and then realize it takes me far less than 12 seconds to destroy a stationary ship.

I ask nothing but that you remember me.

Any decent player will not use this weapon in pvp, but will simply destroy you with its many other abilities. It is not going to be the sitting duck you think it is with the right player at the controls. Sorry to burst your bubble.

The dev blog says the Thalaron weapon won't activate under cloak, even with the "fire while cloaked" ability active. People will have a full 12 seconds to see it coming and evasive out of the way.

What WILL be fun is a fully buffed Thalaron alpha aimed at Donatra. She's too dumb to dodge it. :D

Or sitting at the spawn point in Ker'rat. There will always be unlucky ships popping right when the thalaron weapon goes off ;)

No going to bother myself - the players who think that $50 ship = 'I win' will learn soon enough.

But if I were going to do this - three words: subspace jump console.

I can also see this coming out of my cupboard today, using it on my soverign to park straight into the schmi.

but to all the the peeps moaning about how powefull this is, its not the ship its how its used, im not gna use it but im gna die by it and im also gona kill it works both ways.

you just goda think of tatics.

Dude... I hope you do realize that I don't actually believe that a competent PvPer will use it, right? And yes, it will be a sitting duck with that turn rate. As others have pointed out, subspace jump, if I'm too lazy to fly around the back of it.

Maybe with you behind the controls. This new ship will dominate, please do not be jealous. Btw..Singularity powers include their own jump, and battle cloaks win.

    Stay frosty!

I do hope that they dont make it as slow turning as the Ha'apax even though it is as large if not larger but the Scimitar was still designed to be maneuverable with with all its thrusters all over the place. There are ways of making big ships move and turn. The Scimitar may not be as big in terms of mass and volume but it does have the biggest wingspan of the Romulan ships without knowing the comparison of the Scim and Ha'Apax.

It got a Pack because thats what is done now I still have hope that It will get a Fleet version to go along with the Fed Dreadnought cruiser when it gets its fleet variant.

I'm gonna go and see how the thalaron pulse hits my ship, just to see if it does any dmg, I'l buy it today later anyways, but, If there's somebody to fire it on me once I can do some calculations.

Bortasqu with DHC is the ideal dreadnought hunter, I did it all the time after the Jem Dread came out. I am going to be torn between using the Scimitar myself or playing my Bort and hunting it lol.

if your going to show you Klingon pride - have Tala - come out in the Bort or a BoP - show them KDF ships are still useful.

Yeah have the bort set up now, going to be in kerrat in that a lot more then in the Scimitar. I survive Donatra Thalaron blast in it all the time on KASE, so it should be able to shrug off the one from players most of the time.

The rom dread is the ultimate PvE ship. No reason to use it in PvP except to showboat.

I don't think that PVP was even thought of when the Scimitar was being created for STO.

Despite my disappointment in the Fact that all 3 Scimitars in the Bundle pack all have Tactical Commander Boff stations, I know that I'll be picking it up.

It will be a fun ship to play around with in Elite STF's and in other PVE missions but I would not take one into PVP unless the premade that I was a part of had some kind of plan to keep me alive.

Has for the Subspace Jump console, it works both ways, charge up your Thalaron Pulse Blast and watch them evasive to your backside, wait till your 10 seconds into your charge and then jump behind them for the Blast.

It would kind of be like Goku using his Warp Kamehameha ;p

What was so comical was usually there were min 2 other fleetmates - or others supporting the scimitar and they STILL were going BOOM - it was hilarious - after 1 hour not 1 was left - guess the went to try new set-up equipment(cough)

It's awesome for PvE though - total PvE ship - got the 3 pack just for that + getting the DD and 3 others fed/kdf ships in the sale to add to my 20+ c-store ships already.

Why exactly is it bad in PvP? When I look at its stats, 5 weapons forward, 5 tactical consoles, good turnrate, shields when cloaked, scorpion fighters etc. I have a hard time imagining it not being effective in PvP. What does my D'deridex have over the Scimitar?

Its turn rate is not good by PvP standarts. It could be a decent broadsider of course, but no one wants to waste its DHC carrying capacity or its 5/3 weapon setup. As far as its fighter complement, I'm not really up on scorpions, but in PvP you want combat pets that mess with ouyr opponnents, usually via CCs.

I will be in Ker'rat to meet them in my Fleet Norgh.

I refuse to use non-KDF faction ships. I'm sick and tired of the proliferation of lockbox/cross-faction ships, it just makes everyone look the same. My best ships are the Fleet Norgh and the Guramba (which I hope they make a Fleet version for, one that's also viable for PvP - which would mean higher turnrate).

Hrmm, the only guy complaining about getting blown up was in a RA Assault Cruiser...everybody else has realized it doesn't mean anything to get blown up. Admittedly, I was expecting more complaints from folks - but I'm kind of glad that folks have become more accepting of it...means more folks are just having pew pew phun.

Bortasqu with DHC's pretty much dominate all other cruisers and dreadnaughts.
Its main achilles heel is escorts, but even that can be mitigated a bit with subspace snare and subspace jump consoles.

Its always better to add more fed kills on your hull dont you know that. That way they well surrender more quickly.
