No other sci vessel in game can beat it in term of pure sci class. The only sci vessel in game that can stood equally with it... may be the vesta. However, in pvp... battle cloak is much better than 1 hanger bay imo.
I normally cloak, full power to aux, and activate all sci skill upon de-cloaking. With the dmg boost... it's deathly. If you're a tac, you can basically wipe out everything in front of you in seconds with scatter volley skill - about 200% dmg bonus from sci skills/weapons.
Apparently the best sci ship in the game isn't enough to appease the usual people always complaining about how sci is supposedly getting shafted constantly and the lack of sci options for romulans.
The Tulwar is a pretty nice Science Ship. Granted, it doesn't have sensor scan, but with 5 consoles, a Lt Cmdr Uni and a 5/3 layout you can do some neat things in this.
The separating one is a cruiser. Leaving only one science ship, not including its mirror counterpart.
Well, once the ship is separate you can either play sci or escort. If memory serves, in un-separated mode, it has a universal lt.cmdr which can be slotted with tac or sci.
Only fed and rom have full sci vessels, and the rom ship is way better than the fed due to battle cloak and cannons... and they're pretty as well. Hence, it makes no sense when ppl are whining about no rom sci vessel. Moreover, LoR is just released.
You cant get any better than the rom fleet sci vessel. It's a pure sci class - sci cmdr/lt.cmdr - with 5 sci cons and extra hull/shield.
*** a full sci ship has 1 sci cmdr 1 sci lt.cmdr 3/3 weapon slots... any different configuration is a hybrid.

Perhaps, but it's still not a sci ship, even by your definition.

KDF has more science based ships than the Romulans when you include the Vo'Qov and the Draguas. The latter is C Store, but still is a lot more variety than the Romulans.

Well you could, you could make the slightly more engineering leaning type available. They did that for the mirror version which you can't get at fleet level. Leaving only one tac leaning sci ship available. I will patiently await more ships though.
Anyway, it is an obvious marketing ploy, and the Romulan Science Vessel which has been mentioned by devs before might be on its way in some form.
Well it obviously wasn't a science vessel no matter how you dress it up. I anticipate them doing some sort of carrier type thing like the Vo'Quv and maybe something small and fast like the Intrepid these would be useful to expand the variety of ships.
Phalanx Science Vessel
Draguas Support Vessel
Korath Temporal Science Vessel
Varanus Support Vessel
Varanus Fleet Support Vessel
Sure they aren't free, but KDF has more actual Sci ships than Romulans do
And that doesnt even include the Vo'Quv and the Mirror and Fleet variants
I regret making a Rom science toon, I thought they would have more ships, but they dont, and I cant use most of the KDF ships either since they are T5+.

Agreed,
I felt like I got punked when I hit max level with my Romulan Science Captain.
No +1 version of a full Science vessel in the Legacy Pack and then the Science and Engineering Snub that dropped with the Scimitar 3 Pack with is pretty much the exact same ship just with different console slot configurations.
The only class that can get the most out of the Scimitar is Tactical

To be classed as a T5 science ship, you need to have a (Sub)Commander Science Station.
And it's Sensor Analysis. Sensor Scan is a captain power.

This was always my favorite looking Romulan ship.
