combining boarding party doffs

I just noticed Assualt Squad Officers for boarding party shuttles and flight deck officers that increase the amount of boarding party shuttles lauched have a nice synergy.

They come from different departments, you can have both.

Say two assualt sqiad officers or aso will give you an 80 percent chance that each shuttlecwill come with a point defence turret, while 3 flightdeck officers or fdo will have a 99 percent chance of launching three extra shuttles, which means more shuttles that are armed.

This is good for those that like flying a ship that isn't a carrier, but they wish it was (Galaxy fans I'm looking at you).

    People use Boarding Party? Why?

    Mostly for pve.

Boarding party 3 has an 83 percent chance to shut down either shields, weapons, engines, or aux and an 83 percent chance to delay energy weapons, projectiles, tac, sci, or eng abilies for 4 seconds.

I've had enemy shields just drop making it easy to blow them up, I've had they're weapons stop firing on me and so on.

Dropping thier aux doesn't do much for me unless they're carriers then it stops them from lauching fighters.

Imagine dropping an enemies shields and delaying thier energy weapons for 4 seconds they're defenceless ;D.

They also kill crew, I don't think that has much effect.

Most if not all PVE enemies have no tac team to get protect from boarding parties.'

tac team should ahve a chance to clear boarding party based on alive crew and size of boarding party. That would make boarding party an actual used power and not just a concept in the trainning room.

You don't want to know how many people use them against generators/gates in STF. Always wondered how you can board a generator.

AFAIK, the toughest PVE enemies are immune to boarding party, and don't need TT. I've never seen a tac cube going offline from a boarding party.
Now, it may work on the spheres and all the small trash, but who need single target CC against them anyway ?

I've used them on a tac cube and I think they worked, but I can not remember for sure. I'll test it tonight,

Board party works in stfs against the tac cubes.

I believe its more for PVP than anything. One well-placed subnuc and a ship can become a flying paperweight.

Boarding party has no place in pvp as it is, too vulnerable in transit, to easy to remove, and effects are too weak.

If that's what you believe, sure. I've tested this out already, so I have a different perspective.

Boarding party in PvP can be a nightmare, sub nuc someone with viral matrix and boarding party and they are dead in the water.

If it is stacked correctly as well, it can set all your timers back to more that 10 minutes which persists after death.

    High risk and high reward.

I have it loaded on one build right now doesn't really seem to do much. Haven't noticed any animations from them when they are "armed".

And the 4 seconds disable I can't help wonder if vent plasma isn't a better option if you really want to use engi slots on "dps".

That's the thing, it's not really there for DPS, it's there for a disable effect on one ship and can be useful in combo with other disables like VM.

If you're only going to use the one thing though. Warp Plasma is very good indeed for that with the slow and plasma burn.
