It's come up in several threads (not just recently, either). It was one of the reasons for the Romulans not being a completely separate faction...maintaining the RvB nature of things.
When it comes to PvE, Feds & KDF fight side-by-side. So why not in PvP?
FvF is still RvB. One team is Red and one is Blue. Same with KvK. One Red - One Blue.
Some reasons for doing it:
1) Faster queues for all.
2) Not being "punished" for having picked a certain faction.
3) By combining the queues, it opens the door for them to be split in other ways that folks have requested (separate discussion - an addendum?).
Some reasons for not doing it:
1) Those that only want to fight FvK.
2) Those that do not want to fight against a certain faction.
What are the reasons folks might have to oppose PvP becoming mixed teams of Fed/KDF fighting out in RvB matches and doing away with the FvF, KvK, FvK queues?
Other than 'fluff', I can think of no reason not to do this. We're all one big happy family vs Borg, etc.; these are just wargames.

I don't *want* to fight alongside the Klingons. But having just spent a charming afternoon with some on Risa competing in regular dance competitions.
Canon got hanged long ago.
I'd rather not have to put up with AA's though. There's a reason I rarely do FvK anymore.

In the ten minutes that PvP was "owned" by a dev, he stated that he was thinking of doing away with FvK. I have no problem with RvB as long as FvK is still in the game.

I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.
It might be later this year, it might be next year - but odds favor AA showing up in a lockbox and being available to the Feds as well. Is it a case of just hoping that Cryptic puts that off as long as possible and then deciding whether to walk away or not at that point...or...perhaps moving forward and giving Cryptic room to do more with PvP?
It might be next year or the year after, but already FvK is no longer FvK...what will happen as they add Cardassians, Liberated Borg, etc, etc, etc down the road? The FvK "War" in STO was very short lived...it's over very early for Feds and it's only over later for KDF because historically KDF started at level 20. FvK is actually F&RvK&R. If things go well for STO, Cryptic has laid the groundwork to add those other factions. F&R&X&Y&ZvK&R&X&Y&Z. Again, does it become a case of trying to ignore that for as long as possible until deciding possibly to walk away...or...again, perhaps moving forward and giving Cryptic room to do more with PvP?
As is, one could say that the KDF are punished for having selected KDF as their faction or those Romulans that selected KDF as their allies are being punished. Neither FvK nor KvK (lol, am I actually suggesting KvK queues pop) pop as frequently as FvF queues pop. To be frank, there's simply not the population to have all the queues hopping the way they are currently separated. Adding more queue choices, will only worsen the queues. It also means that Cryptic's hands are tied in trying to do more in that sense...
...these are the queues we have:
FvF Ground Arena
FvF Ground Assault
FvF Space Arena
FvF Space Capture & Hold
FvK Ground Arena
FvK Ground Assault
FvK Space Arena
FvK Space Capture & Hold
KvK Ground Arena
KvK Ground Assault
KvK Space Arena
KvK Space Capture & Hold
If they add another "map/game type" - then that's six additional queues they'll be adding, 3 Ground/3 Space as they do FvF/FvK/KvK. It becomes very restrictive, eh?
With the possibility of PvP Rep down the road, improving the overall endgame (including PvP) - wouldn't RvB instead of FvF/FvK/KvK give Cryptic that much more wiggle room to do things? Think about how it could increase participation, eh? Folks that might not PvP because of the queue times they face, might start queuing more. The more folks participating, the more Cryptic might see the investment opportunity that exists there - they've been very clear that if something makes money, they will do more of it. It makes sense.
In the end, you kind of have to ask yourself...do you want PvP to grow or do you want to cling to what you think you've got for as long as you think you've got it...until you just walk away?

But... tbh... PVP is so broken that this is probably just a dying gasp kind of thing
