Need to make Dilithium worth more?

Crazy Idea but..... In ST Voyager Dilithium was expendable and they had to keep the tanks filled..... Making Dilithium expendable would make the value of dare I say it Zen go up.... so that extra 10 bucks I have in my account would be more attractive to me and others.... Making it expendable would be relatively easy to do and could also make it more realistic (in the ST world) not having enough could *prevent warp capabilities or *reduce shield strength..... you want the value of Zen to go up? well here it is

Its hard enough to get as it is, we don't need more dilithium sinks, we need more dilithium sources :|

It is a peculiar phenomenon that we can imagine events that defy the laws of the universe.

You are thinking of Deuterium, not Dilithium.

Dilithium Crystals are used as a catalyst in warp cores, and would rarely need replacing as in voyager they described how their warp core had a re-crystalisation process.

Deuterium was the fuel used to mix with anti-matter (anti-deuterium I believe) in the warp core. This reacted to form plasma which was fed through to the warp nacelles to create the warp field.

So a ship would have very little Dilithium on board, but would have tanks of anti-matter and deuterium. Deuterium of course being very common in the galaxy with it been a stable version of hydrogen.

    Cheers

It was deuterium that was consumed in Voyager, not dilithium.

Duterium, I believe, is also used in the impulse fusion reactors, so it has multiple uses.

As to the OP, I'm a little confused why you think dilithium is undervalued as it's used in almost everything outside of standard play.
