this sounds funny, but is anyone having trouble flying the jetpacks on risa?I'm using the wasd keys as flying a ship but I'm not able to climb moving forward.[only decend] I would be greatful for any feedback.I feel silly for not being able to complete the coarse and really want the free ship.:D
As an amazingly awesome gamer with cat-like reflexes and hand-eye coordination to make you weep from the beauty of my movements... no, I had no problem with a simple motion.
Going down is my Floater's problem. Tried the mouse - not enough visual control/perspective. Tried shooter - don't really like it. I don't think I want to try the courses with either method because of difficulty with orientation to the course gates. Any RPG keybind that will fly down?
i dont think you can fail on this one.. and the time is just for the rental..
if you buy a jetpack you can take as long as you want?

1. Slow down or stop.
2. Look down.
3. Move forward.
I know it's seems extremely complicated, but once you get the hang of it, it's really simple. I just find it odd that the crouch key doesn't descend for you. Most games I've played are like that, space to ascend, crouch or duck to descend.

Best way to descend for more than roughly 40-50 feet is to just deactivate your floater and reactivate it when your at the altitude you want to be at and hold the space bar.
BTW my estimate in distance could be off but its about half the distance as the resort building is tall.
the controls just aren't intuitive. it would be nice if the jetpack wouldn't just hover and you would actually drop slowly. then is would be super easy to control it...and similar to many other games. of course there could be a hover button if you want to hang out midair for whatever reason.
Face your toon in the direction you want to go and press Forward key. If you want to fly up, you can face that way and press Forward. If you want to fly down, face that way and press Forward.
Use your Backwards key on the same axis and you will go backwards. If you are facing up, and press Backwards key, you will go down in reverse.
Use your "move left/right" keys for lateral movement (strafing). This is not the same as your "turn left/right" which only changes your rotation/facing.
Your Jump key will climb vertically, regardless of your facing.
If you need to descend quickly, you can turn off the jet pack It has a slight cooldown so if you are high enough you will have time to turn it back on before smacking the dirt
Hit R to turn on autorun/autofly. Steer with the camera (mouse right-click). Move the mouse right to go right, left to go left, move up to go down, move down to go up...unless you reversed up/down in which case you move up to go up and down to go down.
Or it's just like walking with WASD and space to go up...looking down to go down.
The movement is easier than the WE was, because although you have momentum - you're not dealing with the inertia issue of the ice.
Fly with your mouse! Look with the right mouse button and hold both to go in the direction you're looking. Only use the spacebar when you need more altitude. After a few hours you'll be nimble as a bee, especially if you use a good floater.

A good pack might not be the same thing for everybody, mind you. Some folks might pick up a pack that's too fast for them when they'd have been better off with a slower pack. Perhaps it ending up being a case of them running multiple packs, the faster pack for straight line flight between two distant areas and a slower pack for when they're trying to do more...precise...flight.
If you don't like to shooter mode you can use this method instead.
Space bar (No wasd) == straight up
Space +w = up, while moving forward.
To go down, the fastest way, w plus a or d you will spin while descending (Just like rising or falling in your escort).
well, I tried. got through 2 of 3 coarses before time runs out. tried three times then gave up.I guess if there was no time limit I could do it.looks like I'm going to have to buy zen for the tokens to get the ship. lol

That's what I use my mouse for.
What do you do with your right hand if you're using your left for abilities and movement?
